J is bawling his eyes out....again...for his nap. How long do your babies cry before they fall asleep for naps? It's making my heart hurt listening to him cry today. He's fallen asleep in 9 minutes, 3 minutes, then 8 minutes, but this one is going on longer and it's killing me.
Night sleep is still going well...he barely cries at all now and wakes up happy in the middle of the night and in the morning which is nice.

It varies really king26. Most days at least 5 mins, today was like 15 but then she slept over 3 hours so 🤷🏻♀️ I’m just lost because there is no rhyme or reason to this baby’s sleep. Your giving me hope about night sleep! I’m just worried that check ins will work her up more. The extinction method seems really tough and cruel but that’s basically what I’m doing for naps bbbbuuutt that feels different since it’s not all night long.

J ended up taking 4 40 minute naps today and then fell asleep on me while drinking his bottle after a nap and slept an extra 30 minutes. He cried 8 minutes, 3 minutes, 9 minutes, and 10 minutes before his naps. I HATE hearing him cry but it's better then yesterday's 18 minutes and 25 minutes. Plus he's consistent if nothing else. For bed tonight there was whimpering when I put him in his jammies but no crying when I lay him down and he was out in less then a minute.

There were times she wasn’t crying so we really only checked in a couple times but she went ballistic when we did the check ins 😢 I hope I can stick with it, I feel so shitty right now. I know it’s for the best but it’s really hard.

R napped three times today: a 30 minute, an hour and possibly 1.5 hours. So, her bed time ended up being 5:30pm. I woke up at 11:50pm to her fussing hard on the baby monitor so I don’t know how long she’s been up. So, now she’s getting a bottle then back in her crib.
At least I don’t have to feel bad if she wakes up at her typical 4am since it definitely won’t be hunger related.

I woke up at 4:30am and heard R on the monitor. She was happy, but I tried the paci a couple of times and repositioned her, because she was sideways in the crib. Then I went back upstairs. Then she woke up at 6ish. I ended up showering at 6:30 and when I came down stairs she was fussing.
So, tonight I think I’ll wait to go downstairs until she’s fussing. If she’s chatting happily I’m going to leave. She doesn’t take the pacifier and my trying is pointless.

I'm following this thread. I thought sleep was getting better after the 4 month regression, but now he has a cough and we're starting leap 5 and everything is messed up again. He went down early at 6:30, but then slept his longest stretch from 8 to 11 and was up about every 1.5 hrs after that. At 5:30, he was wide awake and ready for the day. And the three year old woke up twice. Sleep kids! Sleep!

So night 1 was a success, hopefully it wasn’t just a fluke!
The initial going down was awful. It was almost an hour, not crying the whole time so only a couple check ins but that definitely escalated it. I felt horrible. She went to sleep about 8:00. She woke at 11:30, rolled and talked a little bit, let out a couple cries but not full crying and put herself back to sleep! She didn’t wake again till 4:15! She wasn’t even fully crying but I still fed her since she hadn’t eaten since 7:00 and my boobs were ready to explode. She went right back down without a fuss until 7:30. She babbled for around 15 mins and I fed her and cuddled in my bed. Of course I barely slept all night because I kept waiting for her to wake up and couldn’t tell if she was breathing and was sideways in the crib lol. She doesn’t take a paci at all so I had a lovey in there which helped but I need to find something smaller. This one is like a bunny head with a little blanket but makes me nervous it could cover her face.
I’m sure this was a tease how good it went but it feels like a great start.

Fx that’s what’s going to happen going forward jt2378! A barely napped yesterday because we were out and about most of the day. He also didn’t eat as much as he normally would, so he was up every 2 hours and wanted to nurse every time. And decided to be up for the day at 5:30am. Le tired. MH and I have a deal that I’m with the baby solo MOTN, and MH is to come into the room at 7am and get him. Guess who’s up and who’s still sleeping and it’s 7:45am. I’m so irritated because it wasn’t discussed that he’d sleep in. I’m sure he’ll claim he’s sick, so I’m letting the baby be as loud as he wants. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@easilyunamused omg RAGE!! I’m so sorry. jt2378 that’s awesome! Honestly I couldn’t go the cry it out with checkins. We tried on NYE and it killed me and I sobbed and sobbed on the couch until DH called it quits and I ran to pick him up. Pier to you mamas who can. It will be worth it but I can’t bring myself to do it yet. bsouls it sounds like you have a solid plan! at least you don’t have to do the up and down to try the paci only? N was amazing over the weekend (1 wake up each night) and last night when it was just me he was back to multiple wake ups. But then I got cancelled at work and our nanny is still here so I just took a three hour nap. I would like to sleep more but I’m afraid of being judged lol.

Your nanny sounds awesome addymac ! She is great, but mostly she wants to get paid. Like, she said she will adjust her schedule to what we need, but she needs a minimum of 35h/wk and if I get cancelled and don't need her, we still have to pay her, so she might as well come here and help out. I totally get it, so it's fine. Like today, I will go get a pedicure and put together the care package for my friend and send that so I can get some shit done without having to stop every two seconds to focus on N. She did offer to cut up all our fruit for us though. lol. like I had bought a mango and grapefruit and i guess she saw it was still sitting in the fruit bowl a week later, so on friday she was like "I cut it up and put it in tupperware for you to eat before it goes bad." AMAZING! and today she said she would be happy to do that whenever we get fruit so I can take it to work easily. Cutting up fruit is one of my least favorite things in the world so this is amazing to me lol

jt2378 I'm so glad it went well! Night training went easily for us and I hope it goes well for you. Yeah j doesn't cry at night now in the middle of the night but if it's been a while I feed him. Last night he slept 6 hours then 4.5. Naps are still rough. Th said he cried 15 minutes before his first one but just 2 minutes foe this one. thinkchocolate05 I hope you can get sleep going well again. Every 1 to 2 hours up is so rough.

addymac, yeah the crying really stinks but was only bad at the initial going to bed. It ended up we only did like 2 checkins because she would settle for a minute or two. I hope it’s much less tonite but who knows. I’m torn because I never thought I could do this but sleep has been nonexistent here so had to try something. I’m glad your nanny is so great! That’s awesome 🙌

Omg addymac. I want a nanny that cuts fruit for me, lol. I hate cutting fruit too. It’s sweiously amazing I was like 😍 lol. It’s things like fruit cutting that make me wish my mom lives near me bc she always cuts it for me when she visits. Now my nanny will do it! DH thinks she just feels bad for us bc we’re always rushing around in the morning like chickens with out heads cut off. He thinks she thinks we’re a disaster and knows we have no family. I say 🤷🏻♀️ She’s not wrong and if it means I get cut up fruit then I’m game 😬

The first she didn’t cry at all and the second one only 5 mins! The first she slept almost an hour but hung out in there happy and playing for like 30 mins after. 2nd nap like 45 mins and no hanging out lol.

How many of us have stopped room sharing? Baby h has been in his crib in his nursery for a long time, but we had been sleeping on a foam mattress on the floor. Monday night he woke up every 1.5 hrs and dh is a loud snorer so I wondered if that was a factor. Last night, baby h was in there by himself for the first time and he woke to eat every 3-4 hrs. It seems like we'll get more sleep not being in the room but I worry so much just because of the AAP recommendation to room share for a year. I emailed my pediatrician with the same question, and I'll share what she responds, but I'm wondering what the rest of you have done. We are so exhausted but I would never forgive myself if something happened. But his room is literally across the hall from our bedroom. I can see the adult breathing regulating their breathing when they are a newborn, but he's so big now and rolling both ways.

A was doing so well with 3 hour stretches but the last 2 nights he’s been up every hour or 2 hours. I don’t know what happened. I feel like everytine I feel like there’s progress, or goes right back to the same constant wake ups.

thinkchocolate05 E has been in her crib in her own room for a couple months now. I know about the AAPs recommendation, but it's just that, a recommendation. You have to do what works for your family.

thinkchocolate05, I just moved M a couple nights ago but we were cosleeping so clearly I’m a rule breaker lol. I know it seems nerve wracking but if he is rolling both ways I wouldn’t worry either. As they approach the 6 month mark, the risk of SIDS goes substantially down.
