We’ve got identical twin girls coming in July and coming up with 2 names that my H and I both love is going to be a near impossible task. He will suggest nothing, but veto is his favorite word. Our DD is Anna Felicity, named after MHs grandmother.
I love Ruby and he says maybe. I also love Iris and he says no. He thinks Caroline is too long. We both lost grandmothers this year, and one name I love besides the spelling (Clare) and one name I don’t (Lexine). MH thinks it’s too soon to use Clare/Claire as a first name but is open to it as a middle name, though I’d prefer it as a first name. I’m holding out hope that time will change his mind.
My top choices are Ruby Matilda Iris Amelia Claire Beatrice
I’ve also suggested Ruby Clare and Iris Lexine as a tribute to our grandmothers and while I love both first names, the combos don’t do much for me.
Any suggestion to expand our options?

What are your feelings on matchy names?
I love your names. Here are a few more I would add that I think would make a wonderful sibset: Rose Eve Jade Faye

I love Ruby and Caroline. I came across Ruby Quinn and think that’s pretty cute.
Suggestions Cora Cara Ivy
I kind of also love the idea of Ruby and Hazel as a set, but not sure if that’s too much.

What about variations as a nod to your family names rather than using the same names? Clara or Alexis, perhaps?

I was going to suggest Clara as well. But I love Ruby and Iris together.

I like all of your name ideas, but my first thought is that Anna, Ruby, and Claire sound great together. I love that they are similar in length and style but all have different ending sounds.

You have great taste. I think Ruby and Clare sound amazing together & with your DD.
I also think Ruby Clare and Caroline _____ would be lovely.

I really would love to use Claire as a first name, but I think I need to check with my MIL and make sure it wouldn’t make her more sad than happy since that loss (her mom) is still pretty fresh.
I also worry a little about my grandmothers feeling slighted about not using any of their names when we used both of MHs grandmothers, but I think it’s a pretty fair trade that they get to know all the babies.

Wow, yeah, Lexine's a pretty tough one to swallow. Matilda and Iris are great names. Suggestions: Clara (a nod to Clare, but not the exact same and much better than Claire) Flora Imogen Simone Alexandra (clearly the name from with Lexine was derived) Lily Cora Petra Rose Sylvie Corinne Phoebe Daphne Thea Beatrix

... so this thread led to a dream that I had just had b/g twins and then was oopsie KU with a baby. The baby was born but didn’t have a name because I was completely out of name ideas and too busy between five little kids and my job to try and figure one out.

I would use Clare and Lexine as middle names and find first names you both love. I’m not into changing names of the people you want to honor, though. Use them as is; those were their names.
I think Ruby and Iris are quite matchy because they are both closely associated with a color (red and purple). Your husband hates Iris anyway.
I love Ruby. So much.
EDIT - wait, did I make up that he hates Iris? Lol. I thought that was in your OP.
EDITEDIT - yes, there I see it. Whew, what a day.
