My mom's puppy just tried to chew on Jack's shoe. While he was still wearing it. I hate this damn dog.

Driving to swim a cop turned his lights on to blow through a stop sign and then again to turn left on a busy street. Not cool, dude.

Going to the gym may cost me apt of money. I just biked 10 miles and placed a $50 Old Navy order. 😬

Hey-o. I am out of it and cranky. We cannot adult. I catch myself googling "how to know where to live". I think we are incapable of making a decision. So I'm browsing vacations naturally.

Regarding an earlier comment about the kids coming to sleep in bed with you in the middle of the night. I was wondering if I would regret not letting them sleep in our bed. They've never asked, but I've never pushed for it either. And they're only little and extra cuddly for so long.

xolastunicornxo I had to experiment with my snuza. I changed where I put it based on what she was wearing. My kids were all belly sleepers so front of the hip worked best for me. I had about 5 false alarms total... but I was okay with that- nothing is fool proof. I cannot express how much better I slept as I am extremely paranoid about SIDS.

Yeah, I’m so excited to use it. I spent the last two nights in the hospital getting up every 15 minutes to check her breathing!

J has started coming like clockwork into our bed and we tried to snub it, which ended poorly. I actually kind of like it, but would appreciate a king sized bed. I think it was aha parenting or some website that recommended letting them fall back to sleep in your bed and moving them to their bed. And that they will outgrow it, but often good to get the cuddles in that they don't need as much during the day.

joelies gah I cannot handle the idea of sending j off on the school bus. I only rode the bus freshman year, so the idea of a 5 year old is completely foreign to me. Of course he cannot wait.

Evie rides the bus to pre-school. I was nervous the first day, so I drove to the school to meet her there and see how she did. She barely glanced at me, she was thrilled to ride the bus.

L has never slept with us but we will get kicked, headbutted, hit, ect with C. And he takes up so much space that I can barely fit on the bed. We get terrible sleep. Both of my kids are cuddly though while watching videos/movies and I LOVE the couch snuggles!

guster, n goes in spurts of coming into bed for a few nights and then staying in hers for a while. Dh blames me for starting it but now he likes the snuggles and tells her it’s okay. We have a king bed so sometimes we don’t even notice, just went she tries to rub our ears!

Well for the first couple of years, he'll take the minibus that daycare charters, so it'll be all kids he "knows" and doesn't seem nearly as scary. I'm not sure at what point that'll stop. DH works at home so eventually it'll make sense for the boys to just come home after school. Fortunately that, at least, is a decision we don't need to make anytime soon.

I'd like it to be an option but because they never slept in our bed they think it's party time if they come to our room.

cagoldi - Same. I've tried to have Colin nap with me but he can't settle down. He's always napped fine at school but he also has his own cot. Being close to someone is just too much for him to ignore.

B has never tried to get in our bed overnight, come to think of it. If he wakes up and needs something he calls out to us. He is not a snuggly snuggler--hard head, long limbs, sharp elbows! Sometimes if he gets up early, we'll offer to let him snuggle in our bed in hopes that he'll fall back asleep, but only occasionally does he take us up on it. He is usually ready to get up and watch TV.

This girl finally got her flip to back float at swim class. I talked her through it beforehand in the car, so she was ready. She really wants to move up to the next class. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180124/dbac33af8c0e450d04c8e88f775267fd.jpg)

As much as I wonder if I'd regret not having the kids in bed with me, I also don't think I'd like it. I'm no where near a starfish in bed (much more like a barnacle), but I appreciate the extra space around me when I want to flip over.

Me too. They redid our elementary school with security offices and coded doors to get past the lobby. But the middle school and high school haven't done that yet. But of course this was a student so security probably wouldn't have made a difference in this particular case. Right.... I was thinking that. Why don’t schools use the same locks and entry codes like DCs do (my coworker informed me that her kids’ ES does). But then when it’s a student who does the shooting, I guess locks and secured access aren’t really preventing anything. 😞 My high school campus was very open, and all the classrooms opened onto exterior walkways. There was not really a way to secure the place or control access. About 6 years ago, there was a shooting there---disgruntled, newly-fired teacher snuck into the headmistress' office through a back entrance near the football field. Shot her in cold blood while she was sitting at her desk meeting with another employee. It was obviously very shocking to our school and city; I never dreamed something like that could happen there. I do remember having "stranger on campus" drills in high school, but that was after Columbine. Never would have crossed my mind in elementary school. I hate that we will have to explain stuff like this to our kids and talk about what to do, etc.

But then when it’s a student who does the shooting, I guess locks and secured access aren’t really preventing anything. 😞 I do remember having "stranger on campus" drills in high school, but that was after Columbine. It was a huge open campus--almost more like a college--and all the classrooms opened into exterior walkways. There was not really a way to secure the place or control access, other than just locking individual doors. About 6 years ago, there was a shooting at my high school---disgruntled, newly-fired teacher came onto campus and snuck into the headmistress' office through a back entrance near the football field. Shot her in cold blood while she was sitting at her desk meeting with another employee. It was obviously very shocking to the school and city; I never dreamed something like that could happen at my school. I hate that we will have to explain stuff like this to our kids and talk about what to do, etc. Yea it broke my heart in the press conference- the police commissioner saying that staff and students did exactly as they were trained to do to ensure the most stayed safe. I hate that we have to train our schools for this.

I just went back and re-read your original post. Do they clip them into the DC bus? Evelyn is on a school bus, but she wears a vest with these heavy duty rings on it and they clip her into the seat. Cannot imagine a bunch of little kids loose on the bus!

Dh didn't give C melatonin so he was all wound up and just went to bed at 9:30. I hate relying on it but on school nights he really needs the sleep. Good luck to me tomorrow dealing with an overtired boy.
