BMI is ridiculous. Seriously. according to the BMI, I'm considered a healthy weight even though I was told I have to gain 40lbs when pregnant. How is it even remotely possible that I'm supposed to gain almost half my weight in 9 months and yet BMI says I'm perfectly healthy. It's all crock. Especially because it even considers people who are all muscle overweight/obese. There's so many things it doesn't take into consideration!! I'm surprised we have the same EDD but they couldn't confirm? Thanks! I I'm glad I'm not alone in my feelings on the BMI. My u/s ended up being too early to be considered for dating purposes (baby needs to measure a certain size or date between 7w&14w for them to date accurately). And really, although I hate the "obese" label, other than it being suggested that I take baby aspirin and calcium, it just means some extra monitoring, and with my PGAL brain goungnall the time, the extra monitoring will be helpful I think. How are it doing today? Any more spotting? How interesting about the having to measure a certain size or date! I had never heard that before. The way my doc does it, they go by LMP unless baby measures more or less than 5 days off, in which case they may choose to change the date. With S, she was 10 days behind in measurement so they pushed her date back. With K, I think he was like 3 days back so they left it. This time, we were measuring 5 days back which is right on the cusp so they decided to leave it since i usually have my kids early anyway haha. And so far, no additional spotting. And my icky feeling has come back with a vengeance, especially in the afternoons so I'm taking heart in that. Thanks for asking!

Had my first MW appointment yesterday. Unofficial due date is now Sept 10. Have to go back for another dating u/s as baby was not measuring big enough or far enough along to confirm Edd. I'm okay with the extra u/s. I'm a worrier, so the extra reassurance is good. I'm also considered obese due to my BMI, so on top of my Incompetent Cervix complications, I now have that designation. I know I'm overweight, but when I look at myself, I don't feel like it, but of course hearing it is hard and makes me feel bad. Ugh! hugs. I'm obese by bmi standards too. Both my previous pregnancies I was told not to gain too much weight, gained 40 pounds both times and lost the weight within a couple months each time. It's just how I pregnant. Don't let medical "standards" on size and weight get you down. Just do your best to be healthy and have a good pregnancy.

flutterfly88 - I’m sorry about the BMI crap and how it made you feel. I’m in the same boat. With my last pregnancy we kind of talked about limiting my weight gain, but that was it. I probably brought it up, not him. Definitely no mention of BMI or extra monitoring or baby aspirin or calcium. I am very surprised. It sounds like your doctor is hyper focused on this and probably unnecessarily.

My betas this week came back as follows: Tues - 12,314 and Thurs - 15,947.
I was surprised by how high the result was on Tues. I'm a little worried that they didn't double, but they did have a nice increase. I'm hoping my Dr will email/call about the results with some words of doctorly wisdom.

tbirdlove - Not a dr, but I believe I remember hearing from other moms back on TCF that once hCG passes a certain threshold it can take longer to double. Considering how high that first measurement was, it seems like you could be past the point of doubling every 48 hours. I can't remember who I learned this from, but hopefully you hear from your dr with basically the same sort of explanation!

I'm glad you say that because I thought I remembered hearing/reading the same thing. Like above 6000 or something.
