I can see that. Your last name is basically every woman in my family's middle name. Until flamingo mentioned on here at one point that it was her last name, I just assumed it was her middle name and she was trying to be Facebook private. Exact same!

cagoldi I hope your grandma is okay and recovers quickly. Hopefully someone in the family can get more information to pass along as well. nam2013 I hope your grandma's surgery goes well tomorrow. Stay positive, she's in excellent hands and the medical world has made drastic changes. I couldn't believe the advancements made between my H's heart attacks/stent placement. ladystrat fingers crossed you get good news today! Please update when you can.

Thanks for the well wishes. Feeing awful. So the pedi called in tamiflu for the kids. Has anyone given this as a precaution? How did the kids respond? I’ve heard tamiflu has bad side effects for adults so I’m planning to ride it out, but not sure what to do about the kids. I stalked ggandlee's post history. This was the response to tallb 'Tamiflu has been shown to reduce symptom duration by about 12-18 hours when it is started within the first 48 hours of illness, best when started as early as possible. If fever and cough both began on Monday, then he is outside of that time window and it will offer no benefit. Tamiflu is not a great drug and I am not a big fan. If M or C got the flu, I would probably not treat them with it. It does often have side effects, most notably nausea/vomiting, but also more rarely some neurological side effects such as seizures, hallucinations, etc. The AAP recommends treatment for those at greatest risk of severe complications- children younger than 2 yrs, children with chronic medical conditions (moderate-severe asthma, chronic lung disease, cancer, sickle cell disease, immunocompromised/immunodeficient patients, CF, etc), and those that are hospitalized due to a more severe course of illness. If J is within the 48 hr window of his fever onset, but doesn’t have any chronic issue putting him in a high risk group, then I would not treat him. As for prophylaxis for N- how old is she? If J has been sick for greater than 48 hrs (and so her exposure has been greater than 48 hrs), prophylaxis is going to be of little benefit. The prophylaxis dose is lower than the treatment dose. Obviously, if she has had a longer duration of exposure, her risk of getting sick is higher. If she were to actually get the flu, but is treated at a lower prophylaxis dose than true treatment dose, you then expose her to side effects, don’t properly treat her illness, and increase the risk of potentially developing drug resistance. If she is within the 48 hr exposure window, then go for it. If outside of the window, I would not give prophylaxis. However, I would consider starting true treatment dosing as soon as she becomes febrile, should she get sick, as she is less than 2 yrs and so theoretically in a higher risk group.

Hey Ladies! It's a gloomy, rainy day here which is not good for my mood. I am predisposed to both antepartum and postpartum depression, and while it's been fairly manageable before, this time around I got hit hard. I may update in the private group one of these days.
I took myself to the art supply store and to Whole Foods this morning just to be in my happy places. I got the biggest, chunkiest cookie ever and I am not ashamed to admit that it is bringing me joy to know it's in the house when I need it 😉

*snip* I was talking to a guy in my running group this weekend and he may have convinced me to sign up for the Providence Marathon instead of the VT City one. It's closer, cheaper and it's a faster course. Of course it's also 3 weeks sooner, so I need to test out my legs tomorrow and see if it's reasonable. If it is, I'll probably ask if he wants to start meeting early on Saturday mornings to get in our long runs together since we run similar paces and our goal finish times are in the same ballpark. I'm still struggling with my confidence though, it's annoying. dude. If MH can do a marathon, so can you. What's the longest run you've done? It wouldn't take you long to train since you're already an active runner. I haven't run more than 14 miles since before I got KU with Colin, probably not since my last marathon which was October of 2012. It's just daunting because I know what I'm capable of and it seems like a ton of work. Because it is.

A marathon is 26.2 miles and the longest race I've run was 37.2, in which I experienced actual road rage about halfway through. It was weird.

wedding how did C do last night without the pullup? He wet the bed right before he got up this morning. He has taken the pad off too. We talked about it and he really wants to try again tonight. I asked him if he knew he had to pee and he said yes, but he didn't want to get up. So it's laziness, which is what I knew before. I told him I will give him a quarter if he wakes up dry tomorrow.

MH put a cooling wrack in the dishwasher and I can't get the bottom rack out now! It's driving me nuts cause I need to unload it and the dishes in the sink are piling up alarmingly high. I mean I could hand wash them, but... Can you try and pull both racks out at the same time? Then maybe you could pull up on the top rack and get the cooling rack out. No, it's not stuck on the top rack, it's jammed in the bottom of the track to pull the top one out if that makes sense.
