Dude with flu just walked in.....I hate these people. Feel better lahdeedah ! Do they not have the ability to WAH? That's what everyone in Pete's office does when they're sick. I know it's not feasible for everyone but I would think they should have that set up... Oh yes, he could very easily work from home. In fact, all of the attorneys here could, but they choose not to. They are just idiots who don't understand that shit spreads and just because you are able to get out of bed it doesn't mean you should.

I just made a watermelon ‘pie’ for the kids. I added some fruit in little pieces, so they could decorate their pie and a candle to make it real! I did this before and t I forgot how easy it was and how much the kids love it, thought I’d pass on the tip!

lahdeedah oh no! That's a long time to be off. I'm sorry you also aren't feeling well. Maybe there's a silver lining here and you can take the week for some self-care. Could you use a massage? A good book? A haircut? Just some ideas to make the most of your mandatory time off. ladystrat I am sorry that you're dealing with this. Thinking of you in the difficult time between now and when you have some answers. Try not to let your thoughts run away with you, I know how tough that is.

So it's already going horrible. I've had to go to my temp assignments office twice. They are about two blocks away so not a quick little thing. I'm trying to stay positive but it's really hard

The water company for my Dad's house responded to my inquiry. Their response was "Your usage seems higher than normal. You should check for any leaks." Thanks. That is so freaking helpful and not obvious at all.
I'm hoping to head up there the first weekend in Feb., which is only 2 weeks away. The water is shut off in the meantime, so hopefully it is just a running toilet or something simple. Please be something simple! I can do basic plumbing/pipe repair, but I'm not crawling under that house to look for leaks.

So I guess my grandma is having surgery for a mass in her abdomen.
No idea what that means since she didn't even tell anyone about it until last night.
She's been acting really weird and complaining about a lot of physical ailments lately but was refusing to go to the doctor. So whatever happened seems to have made them decide to move to surgery quickly.

I hope it goes well for your grandma, cagoldi. Not to mention for you - your weekend sounded hideous. xolastunicornxo - I thin it was the "little miss" comment but Melissa popped into my head. So random. I've never seriously contemplated girl names.

I think this is such a man-thing...they're afraid of looking wimpy or feel like the can't be replaced or something. Hate to generalize, but. MH was literally vomiting every 20 minutes last year with some stomach bug and was going to try and go in because he had a meeting and something big to finish. It took me yelling at him to make him reconsider. Not only are you exposing your coworkers, but then they take it home to their families, new babies, etc. Plus, how the heck are you going to commute almost an hour to work on the interstate if you're having to stop and barf?? Like, c'mon, dude.

Anyhow morning!
I'm in the office today trying to finish something up for one of my coworkers. Tomorrow is another field trip for Colin's class and I found out this weekend that his class only had 1 chaperone sign up. I didn't sign up originally because I figured other parents might want a turn, so I called this morning to offer up my services. So I'll go for a long run tomorrow, chaperone the kids to a museum, then work all afternoon. Now that I typed it out, I may have made a huge, tiny mistake. LOL.
I was talking to a guy in my running group this weekend and he may have convinced me to sign up for the Providence Marathon instead of the VT City one. It's closer, cheaper and it's a faster course. Of course it's also 3 weeks sooner, so I need to test out my legs tomorrow and see if it's reasonable. If it is, I'll probably ask if he wants to start meeting early on Saturday mornings to get in our long runs together since we run similar paces and our goal finish times are in the same ballpark. I'm still struggling with my confidence though, it's annoying.

cagoldi, do you have Purple Carrot in your area? A coworker uses it and really loves it. It is a vegan meal service similar to Blue Apron, Plated, etc.

I really like Marissa! 3-syllable names that end with A (yes, that specific) don't work well with our last name...it's kind of country music singer-ish or something. But I have always liked it.

I can see that. Your last name is basically every woman in my family's middle name. Bingo. Whenever I speak with someone and give my name, half the time they end up using my last name as my first; i.e., instead of Mrs. Smith, they just call me Smith. It happens so frequently that I usually don't correct them unless it's needed for exact paperwork or an appt or something.
