Yeah, this is quite the turnaround from what I just watched for the past hour or two. He's a dick. They were willing to work on something and he just noped right out of that. I want to kick him where it hurts.

Mitch McConnell is a brazen, craven man. He literally is saying the brown kids aren't worth it. He is attempting to codify Trumpist racism and xenophobia into law.

The NYTimes news alert made me really angry. This isn't on the Democrats.

The NYTimes news alert made me really angry. This isn't on the Democrats. Their base is going to eat it up and they will never believe that they didn't even have all of the Republican votes. Fuck the NYT for that headline, fuck the GOP, fuck 45, and an extra helping of fuck you to McConnell.

So maybe they were just performing for the base and did come to an agreement?
I'm going to bed.

I had forgotten Mick Mulvaney was in the House when the government shutdown- er, “slowed down”- in 2013. Back then he blamed it all on Obama, yet now says this can in no way be blamed on Trump.
If I eyeroll any harder my eyes will be permanently facing up.

Tom Cotton needs to get the fuck away from McConnell. Tom cotton and Steven miller are about to jump ivanka and Jared in line for my most hated. Speaking of which where has Ivanka been? Trying to lay low?

So what happens now? Do they keep negotiating on Monday? I am just...they had a deal. They have one job. I don’t understand why they killed it over nothing.

John Kelly can get fucked. I'm so mad he has such pull.
Edit to add I read Trump and Schumer made a deal and Kelly nixed it after

Apparently Schumer and Trump's deal had money for the wall but a great DACA deal and they still wouldn't take it.
What I don't understand is if Trump is the only one not on board, why not vote for it in house and senate and put it on his desk and make him do the dirty work?
Also I thought house members went home this weekend?

I’m reading the House was supposed to be on recess next week but are hopefully going to stay in town and they will hopefully have a deal within the week so it’s not too disruptive.
I personally would find missing a weeks pay to be pretty disruptive, but I am hopeful this doesn’t last long.

I'm not worried about the pay check but we live on base and rent comes straight from our pay check so I have no idea how it'll work with no pay check. (If it gets that far)

Also, I have a rant. I'm so fucking mad at speaker ryan for his statement saying the dems are putting troops in danger.
1) Stop using my husband's service for you political gain. He missed 50% of the first 4 years of my oldest child's life. He missed so much. Not so you can say the dems are putting him in danger.
2) And the biggest one. If he really cared about the military he wouldn't call everyone troops. NOT EVERYONE IS A FUCKING SOLDIER. He can't even use the correct terminology.

I don't usually go here because my job requires a neutral political stance publicly but I wanted to send me love out to those facing furlough. It has to be quite scary and unsettling and I'm sorry.

And I'm spiraling. McCain is 5'9". Graham is 5'7". Paul is 5'8". Bannon is 5'11". Pelosi is 5'5". Pence is 5'10". Ryan is 6'1". Biden is 6'0". (Shorter than I thought.) Bernie is 6'0". (Taller than I thought. For some reason, I think of him as a hunched over little old man.) Cruz is 5'10". Rubio is 5'9". (Again, shorter than I thought.) Bill Clinton is 6'2". HRC is either 5'4", 5'5", or 5'6". There wasn't a consensus. HRC is short. I’m surprised she’s even 5’4”. I stood next to her when she was a senator and I was working on the hill. I’m 5’6” for reference.
