RunsforWineandCarbs , thanks for the recs! I feel sluggish and foggy since cutting carbs. Have you ever noticed that? yes - it's because you are eating less sugary things. it goes away after a few days. drink lots of water.

shellyr Good for you for being proactive with getting in to see the endocrinologist. Do you think the sluggishness could be from cutting back on calories or protein too much? The more I thought about how to do low carb vegetarian I realized it's pretty challenging. I think I'd be subsisting on beans, nuts, cheese, eggs, and greek yogurt, plus lots of fruits and veggies. Do you eat any meat substitutes like veggie burgers? Is tofu low carb?

I have to take 3 kids to the dentist in the morning. I'm hoping this goes better than I'm expecting.

Cycle day 3. 3rd day of this miserable period. Usually it's the first, SOMETIMES the second day, that suck.. I think with the added stress lately it's messing with my cycle. I got my period 5 days early this month and I'm not a happy camper.

I cannot keep down this path It takes around 6 weeks to get the medicine level settled out in your system. The first week I felt shaky and weak. That being said, I did indeed gain 10 pounds in 9 months (I do not come from a family with weight yo-yos, so this is extreme) Something I wasn't prepared for: It amplified the effects of alcohol, so I would literally be blackout drunk in 3 drinks.

Day three at work and I am logged into the system.
Now to sort through my 1100 emails.
Also, my new year resolution to be more positive about my job is being tested.

Things that confuse me.
(Reminder... I live in Minnesota. Where it’s currently winter)
Target is full of swim suits. But I could not find adult snow pants. Found some on amazon.
Maybe you are more confused at why I don’t own a pair of adult snowpants.
Weather forecast keeps changing. We’ll likely get a decent amount

Do you eat any meat substitutes like veggie burgers? Is tofu low carb? I saw 4 people today. Endocrinology, diabetes nurse, a new PCP and ophthalmology (endocrine sent me there). My hemoglobin a1c is under 5.5 but my vitamine d level is in the gutter. I definitely think I’m eating too little but I freaked out that the baby was swimming in toxic sugar sludge for weeks and I didn’t know. Now that I know differently, I’m going to play around a little more with my diet. I might need to suck it up and eat some seafood for the next 10 weeks. Tofu is low carb

Omg shellyr fish and seafood have been my major aversions this time! I normally love fish, shrimp, crabs, mussels etc etc. and some of it is so healthy/good for you but I just can't stomach cooking and then eating it. Do you normally like it? Are you vegetarian? Just being nosy...uh I mean curious.

shellyr: besides tofu— quinoa, seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, chia— add them to salads, pilafs, smoothies, etc), buckwheat (which is not actually wheat), anaranth, peas, beans, lentils, green beans (obviously a bean, but I think people forget about fresh beans), artichokes, spinach and broccoli are all protein sources. Also seitan and tempeh of course.

Also, shellyr, if you do end up doing some fish, an easy one might be anchovies. You can chop them up, add them to olive oil and they will kind of melt, and then make a tomato sauce. You might not really even notice them that way.

My suggestions were useless since I forgot you are a vegetarian shellyr, I'm sorry. I'm glad coconutbacon chimed in.

shellyr, also, another place for recipes is Purple Carrot. It’s a meal subscription service like Blue Apron but all vegan. I’ve never actually used the kits (though they may be something to splurge on for a few weeks) but their recipes are all on their site. If you look specifically at their Tom Brady recipe line (ignoring that it’s TB), they are high protein and vegan.

I swam laps this morning. Waiting for MH to drop off P so we can do her art and swim classes. Then we’re going to head into Manhattan for the Women’s March, and headed to a friend’s party in the early evening. Busy Saturday!
