True story. Santa Clarita(?), CA... I'm just glad it wasn't Florida, for once. I'm giggling because the radio stations here will do crazy stories from around the world and there is always a running joke that everything happens in Florida. Or if it does come out that it's Florida, its' all, 'well we expected no less'.

My parents will be 72 and 70 this year. My maternal grandparents, if they were still living, would be 125 and 117 this year. It's crazy to me that my children have so much distance between them and three generations removed. Yeah, my dad is 78, mom is 75. My FIL is 82 My paternal grandmother died 15 years ago, I think she was 93... so I guess she'd be 118 now? Grandfather would be 120? My maternal grandmother is 97, , and my grandfather would have been 101 if he was still alive. I've said it before, but I literally could be peachsmama's mother.

The humorist Dave Barry has written extensively about this, too (he's from Miami). But seriously, it is always Florida.

What an afternoon. It's been almost a month since Josie's been to dance because of a holiday party and then the break, and then a snow day. Dance went off without a hitch, but then we had to quickly transition (change and lunch in the car) and off to school. She just about lost it. First that she didn't want/couldn't go, then when we decided she wouldn't go, it was about how she wanted/needed to go. She eventually calmed down enough to talk to me about how she feels like she can't do one thing after the other without a break. It was really mature of her, and I'm trying to respect it. She is 1000% my husband. We stayed in the parking lot for about 20 minutes and talked. And while we were talking, Charlie shoved his hand so far down his throat that he threw up. So then we sat in smelly car while she tried to puzzle out the rest of her brain. On the way home, my gas light came on, so we had to stop for gas. I had removed Charlie's outer layer and cleaned him as best I could with wet wipes, so because I knew he wasn't sick, we stopped at the grocery store to get comfort food for tonight. I think we all need it. Oh, Charlie. Your kids seem so different from each other! Poor sweet J, I hope the comfort food helps you all tonight!

tgrimes , I'm sorry your Dad is having to deal with all of that. How is your nephew doing? He has an eye patch and a walker. My sister took leave from her job and is staying home with him. He'll have to do online schooling for the time being. He can't read since he can't move his eyes side to side or focus with both eyes, so she's having to help him out a lot. He does therapy 3x a week.

trtlcrzy, Unfortunately it would be the same thing -- just immediately after preschool. I'll either have to look for something on Fridays or on the weekend. Oh bummer. For some reason I was thinking she only had preschool on tues/there like H.

flamingo - That Christmas tree story sounds like something my FIL would do. He returns EVERYTHING to Costco, including dead bushes that died due to poor maintenance. My MIL is super pearl-clutchy so I can't imagine how she survives. I'm with your poor MIL, I'd be dying of embarrassment! I've noticed before on plants at Home Depot that you can return them within a year IIRC but I don't think I'd ever actually do it, whether I inadvertently killed them or not. Like, they're plants? Shit happens. I think I've told this story before, but when I worked at Ann Taylor in college we had a serial returner (beautifully coiffed/groomed older lady) that would essentially return all her purchases--clearly worn--at the end of the season. At the time AT's return policy was super generous. She would literally safety-pin the tags back in and claim she'd never worn them, and we'd issue her store credit. She'd buy a bunch of new stuff, three months later she'd be back...rinse and repeat.

The roofers are working directly over C's room and somehow she's managed to sleep for going on an hour now. Sleeping like a baby, indeed.

Josie was such a calm baby and early toddler. I'm sure it was because it was just us with her. The stuff that Charlie's doing in the last 10 months are things that she did when she was 2+. I guess having an older sister influences things.

No. I gave her detailed information regarding baby food. Brands, stages, etc. Than just pffff... I hope the situation improves. She did the same thing regarding protein powder. My dad needs more protein so the doctor told her to get some protein powder. She chose to just get protein shakes from costco because she couldn't figure out the powder. How difficult is it to add protein powder to whatever he's eating? Me: Mom, just add the powder to his applesauce. Her: Your father can't eat applesauce. It's too acidic and burns the sores in his mouth. Me: You're missing the point. You can add it to whatever he's eating. Her: So I just add 1 scoop and that will give him 30g of protein like the shakes I bought? Me: I wouldn't know how much protein and scoop has in it without seeing the cannister mom. If you just read the back of it, I'm sure it will tell you how many grams are in 1 scoop. Her: This is just too difficult. He can just drink the shakes. Don't even get me started on trying to explain to my mother the extra calcium my dad needs to take since he needs 2grams and her pills are only 600mg.

My mom had me at 37. In the 70s that was practically unheard of. My dad was 47. My grandma had her last child at 40, this was in 1964. She already had lots of grey (probably from raising the four boys!) and when she was out and about with her infant people thought she was the grandmother.

I guess having an older sister influences things. I don't think it's just because it was your first, Charlie totally reminds me of Clark. No fear and always looking for adventure. L is a waaaaay easier toddler, though she does still get into her fair share of mischief (and she's basically the bully of daycare).
