Hey! First, hugs. I know firsthand how stressful it is to have bleeding in early pregnancy. Sometimes bleeding is completely normal and not an indication of a problem, but I think you should probably call your doctor and let them know what’s going on. That’s great that you have blood work scheduled for today anyway!

Blood is common. Lots of people spot during early pregnancy. I know it’s so scary. Usually you don’t have to worry until it’s a lot of blood. Have you had sex recently? That is often the culprit of spotting. I spotted with my last pg also. As long as it’s not lots of blood try not to worry.

I'm sorry. I know this is stressful. The only advice I can offer is to call your doctor. ((hugs))

No sex recently but that’s good to know that could cause some! I called My doctor and just to be safe they had my blood work done this morning to check progesterone levels and I’m going back at 1pm to have an ultrasound done just to be safe! The nurse kindly talked me through the panic on the phone and said we’d know how everything is going later today but not to worry if there is no heartbeat bc I’m only 5 weeks so it’ll need more time before t shows up. She also explained some other reasons that cause light bleeding this early in pregnancy. I’m excited that we’ll see the starting of our little nugget hopefully today. But this is scary for a first timer! (Or any timer really) fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that all is well today!

First off, welcome to our little band of merry women. I know it's easy for me to say and hard to do, but try to stay calm. Spotting in early pregnancy is fairly common and can happen for all kinds of reasons and isn't necessarily a bad thing even though it is a mind game. I'm glad you already have a doc appt and that the nurse was able to talk you though the panic. I hope everything goes well and lean on us if you need to!

Welcome! I'm sorry you're dealing with this stress. As others have mentioned, spotting can be normal. I'm happy that your doc is taking your concern seriously.

Okay so not good news but not bad news. The didn’t see anything on the ultrasound which is fine bc the nurse and US tech both warned that that could happen since I’m not far along at all. They sent me from the US right to lab to get quantitative blood work done since that seems to be only way to tell currently. My results came back at 139 so they think I’m about 3-3.5 weeks along. And I go Back Monday to get more blood work done and see if my numbers doubled. Is that number common/good for 3 weeks? Also- say a prayer, keep me in your thoughts, send sticky baby dust whatever you believe in. We’ll take all we can get right now! 🤞🏻✨

Most of us here have all been through MCs before so we totally get where your head is at right now so lean on us and ask questions as often as you'd like. I personally do not know what's "normal" or not for HCG levels so I can't help much in that arena. I know you had said you think you're approx 5 weeks, was that based on LMP? And do you know when you ovulated for sure? All of these things factor in and can affect HCG levels even by just a few days. I will say, that with my first, they shifted her due date by 10 days, so thinking you're 5w and being instead 3.5 is entirely feasible and she's 4 now so don't lose hope. Either way, you'll be in my thoughts, and I hope the spotting has improved, or at the very least, not gotten worse!

Sending sticky baby dust!! 139 for 3.5ish weeks sounds reasonable to me, fx for a great doubling time. In the meantime try your best to relax and not worry too much (which is impossible, I know).

Hcg levels vary so much, and it’s hard to tell from one draw what the situation is. Mine was only 44 at 4 weeks from LMP, so I’d say 139 is a pretty good start!
FX for doubling numbers! Try to relax over the next few days and keep us posted!

Man o man, waiting til Monday to see if my numbers are doubling seems like forever away. I am still spotting (there enough to see when i wipe) but yesterday was much less than the day before.
I have A new question or two really... 1) how long does implantation spotting last potentially? And 2) I read That some women spot during their first trimester... is that really a thing?

Yeah, my best friend spotted throughout her first tri. I'm not sure how long implantation sporting lasts though.

Yes it’s very common to spot through your whole first trimester.

Glad to hear the spotting is lessening! And I know quite a few friends who bled, some even very heavily well into the second tri and they all have healthy kiddos now!

Happy to report that my spotting is pretty much gone! One drop or so first thing this morning but last night and so far today, it’s been way better. We go tomorrow for our follow up test to see if my numbers and doubling and I shoukd Get my progesterone results back as well. According to my research, the stuff I had Going on could not end well but it could also have been implantation (I’m very early but my doc said I found Out so early bc I’m in tune with my body and we pay such close attn after the infertility diagnosis) or low progesterone. Fingers crossed, prayers, or whatever else you believe in would be appreciated! Hope this # double and if there is something causing the bleeding, that it’s done (implantation) or fixable with supplements. As a first time mama to be, the initial excitement wore of quickly this week and I’m just hoping to go back to being excited soon!
