Hey guys, so thought I'd start a thread of first steps and things to remember about. This isn't my first rodeo, but I swear it feels like new again. So what are things you chnage up once pg?
I started prenatals again. No more wine. Need to up my water and cut my diet Coke consumption. How much caffeine can we have again?
I have to decide where my line in the Sand is going to be on fresh cheese and deli meats because that's a good portion on my diet here!
Anything you guys are hard passes on? Mostly just curious.

I really like OviaPregnancy, mostly just because it has a cute feature that shows you how big baby’s hand is relative to the size at birth. Sounds weird but I think it’s fun to watch the hand grow each week.
I’m worried that I’m going to forget I’m pregnant and have wine ! It still doesn’t feel real!

blurnette989 to answer your question I guess right now I’m just hard passing on alcohol and Diet Coke. I actually think that Diet Coke is probably fine in moderation but I’m kind of addicted to it so it’s easiest to cut it completely. I don’t really eat fancy enough cheese to worry about it being unpasteurized so that’s not an issue, and will probably trust deli meat as long as I know the source. I can’t remember what else is banned?!

chriskoo, yes, it doesn't help that MH is starting a small vineyard and so we have lots of wines all the time at home to sample grapes and styles, etc. I'll have to check out ovia.

I downloaded the Ovia app two days ago and I really like it. It syncs with my fit bit.
It's been six years (minus the 2 week stint back in October) and I feel like I've forgotten everything. So far I've: - started taking prenatals - no alcohol - no fresh cheese - toasting any deli meat sandwiches - making sure my eggs and meats are cooked thoroughly. I'm a floppy bacon fan lol - drink lots of water - get as much walking in as I can. - limit my coffee to one small cup per day. So I mix regular and decaf when I make my thermos of coffee in the morning. It's like a 12 oz cup.

Cutting out the wine is the big one for me too! Not much else has changed since I don't eat deli meat anyways. I do like cheese but I don't think I eat fancy enough cheese to worry about it. Oh..Fish. Gotta watch what type of fish I am eating. Cooked through meats. I don't know I am more relaxed this time than last time about some of these things though. I will definitely watch it but not be as crazy about it. Still going to keep my 1 cup of coffee a day. If once in a while I feel like I need an afternoon cup. Ehh so be it. Definitely want to try to drink as much water as possible though!! That is definitely something that is good for your body and pregnancy so I will try my best with that.

Add me to the list of Ovia fans! The handprint feature is really endearing. Like most of you all, I’m trying to limit caffeine and up my water consumption. It seems so simple...but I still forget to drink water. Having the fridge stacked with cold water (flat in a filtered pitcher and La Croix) helps.

I downloaded Ovia as well. It also has a little section with a bunch of foods (and medicines) listed and if they're okay or not.
I started taking prenatals about a month before we started ttc. I'm not a big drinker so that isn't so hard to avoid or hide. Deli meats is going to be hard for me, I wanted JJ so badly yesterday but went to Firehouse instead since they steam their meats. I remember last time I was pretty strict with rules at first and towards the end I was like, screw it. Iced tea is my weakness and I've had several glasses but I'm trying to limit it to one a day, instead of 3-4 a meal 😬 I can't quit it. I like my steaks medium but went with MW last pregnancy and will probably do the same this time.
This was a good idea because I feel like I remember nothing from last time!

I got the ovia app and I found where you can change the size indicator. So instead of fruits and vegetables I chose animals. Currently I have a waterbear.😂 Also, I miss la Croix.

Hmmmmm I'll have to check out this ovia app.
As far as the "rules", I've restarted my vitamins and I'm taking DHA as well. I don't drink THAT much, but not being able to have a beer after dinner sucks hahaha. Luckily I don't drink soda so that's easy. Coffee I just drink what I normally drink minus a wee bit off the top since I never really increased my intake after #2. I was having the sads yesterday though because I usually eat sandwiches a couple days a week at work and had to go with a veggie one. Oh, and remembering to switch to tylenol over advil. I always hate that one hahahaha. I'm still on the fence if I want to listen to the limit flonase usage or not.....the allergist says it's class B.....

Mostly I can't have beer. I drink one or two every day so I already miss that. Take prenatals. More water. Less coffee. I still drink it. But try to keep it to one or two cups.
That's pretty much it. I still did deli meats last time but I don't eat much of them so it wasn't a huge deal.
MH asked about soft serve this weekend and I was like no. I'm pg you are not taking away ice cream. Don't even try it.

Oh yeah. I did buy Tylenol. I also forgot about soft serve. I don't really eat ice cream anyway though.

the extra water may be the death of me. I live in CO so our humidity is non-existent for the most part so I have to drink a lot of water anyway. But now I have to drink even more because if I just drink my normal amount, blood draws are a blast. As in, they don't happen easily.

This thread is so helpful! Lol I had totally forgotten that Tylenol is ok but Advil is not.

I’m taking prenatals and a calcium/D supplement. I somehow weaned myself off of coffee. I still make a cup and have a few sips some mornings, but the taste isn’t my favorite right now. And I had to stop using my acne medication (differin). It’s topical, so absorption is minimal, but I’m playing it safe and just hoping that my skin behaves itself.

I remember with our daughter, I ended up having to make my coffee like 1 cup coffee, 1 cup milk and 3 spoonfuls of sugar just so I could drink it because of the taste. I couldn't NOT have coffee hahaha.

I did inadvertently out myself to a friend. We went to brunch the weekend after my BFP, and I started to order a mimosa before awkwardly backtracking. I didn’t have time to think up an excuse before she said, “You’re pregnant!” 🤦🏻♀️

How am I so knew at this already? We went out to dinner on NYE and I wanted a rare steak SO BAD... I just longingly looked at my husband’s meal until he shared a portion of the seared edge.

I will be honest, with single cuts of meat like that I'd probably still eat it rare or med rare. Unless it was like a Denny's. 😊

No rare burgers or anything for me but if it’s a streak from a reputable place I’d probably still eat it medium rare. Do not want well done steak and mama needs her iron lol. Also, is no soft serve when pregnant an actual rule? Agh I did not know this and I don’t want to believe it especially knowing we’ll be like maximally pregnant in August!

We were at Disney and they met up with us there and I had to tell her I couldn't ride a ride. She immediately was like oooooooh you're preggo!

I think it has to do with the machines, like if the employees at DQ don't clean the ice cream machine it can be a breeding ground for bacteria.

Is anyone in the US avoiding romaine lettuce? I accidentally had it for lunch yesterday...I didn’t realize spring mix contains romaine because all the green leafy stuff looks the same to me 😬, I survived. I do love a good salad.

I had no idea this was a questionable food? I just checked in the Ovia app and it says it's good, provides folic acid. So I think it's okay? Where did you hear not to?
