About a million and twelve things need done before J's party on Saturday. Today, I need to: pull weeds, plant the remaining flowers, spackle and prime the (tiny) downstairs bathroom, prime the 2 man-doors in the garage, go to the paint store and get some more painting supplies. And time permitting, paint the bathroom and doors. Oh and replace two light fixtures.
Ahhhh. Tomorrow has a whole other list that's too overwhelming to think about right now.

This AM we hit up the grocery store and did some cleaning-- not very thrilling. I think we are taking DS to the splash park later today and maybe tomorrow, too. I'd like to get out for some family walks in the sun at some point.

I'm at an amazing Chicago farmers market! I love being alone.

Got donuts at the farmer's market this morning and celebrated our library's birthday with free cake and games. Now I'm sitting outside with a beer so I don't have to look at all the cleaning that needs to be done.

Today we ran a few errands and have friends coming for dinner tonight. DH has a friend over to help cut up a fallen tree.
Tomorrow I'm taking R to a friend's birthday party.

We had a cold and windy farmers market this morning. DH is in a foul mood (I blame his work), but sales were good and now both girls are napping at the same time, so really it's a winning kind of day.
I got some morels from the farmers market so I think that I'm going to make a sausage and mushroom cream pasta for me and the girls and noodle broth for DH (I'm using his hatred of mushrooms + bad mood to my advantage. This makes us both happy). I'm not sure what we're doing tomorrow, but I would be excited if it included a walk.

It is just the kids and I all weekend as DH is working. So cleaning, grocery shopping, and finishing work I was unable to complete last week before Monday. We should be able to do a walk around the neighborhood today or tomorrow.

It was the chicken yellow curry from the place over by top golf. Oh, fancy, didn't know there was a new place in there. Will have to try at some point. Thanks!

I went to Chicago and now I'm in the airport waiting to go home. I set my alarm last night, then woke up to one of my friends shutting the creaky bathroom door in our airBNB. I almost had a heart attack because I was sure I'd slept in and missed my flight. Nope, it was an hour before my alarm was due to go off. Now I'm at the airport super early and contemplating what small gift to get my children. I used gifts as enticement to get them less sad about me leaving (well, for H). And for those of you like, "that's crazy, who wants to have to buy your kids gifts every time you go away?!"... well,

Garrett Popcorn. I think they have a vendor at the airport.

ovenrack I bring my kids tchotchkes from the airport when I travel for work. It's a small price to pay. Have a safe flight home!

I was actually gonna get M a cheap shot glass if they had any of those thick plastic ones... but I only found glass. I don't know if I travel enough to justify a specific magnet board, maybe someday though!

We started collecting magnets when we travelled for our fridge, but when we moved our stainless steel fridge wasn't magnetic. Now they are just sitting in a jar...

rockiesIt's just a drip pan. You can get them at wal mart or an auto supply or hardware store. Like 10-15 bucks. We used command Velcro strips to hang it. They LOVE it. I was thinking about putting another one in their girl cave under E's loft bed.

I'm at the pool sunning myself while MH & DS are swimming. No complaints here!

Well I ended up with some stomach bug, so my night to myself turned into passing out as soon as the kids were asleep.

DH wanted to go to a hard cider place a few towns over today. I really wasn't sure if it was going to happen until we were pulling out of the driveway, but it did and it turned into a lovely touristy kind of afternoon. We went to the cider place and the farmers market next door. We bought some fabulous maple spirit at the farmers market and then stopped at a cheese place that I sell to on the way home. Once we were home, both girls were eager just to play with their toys, so DH and I got to hang out with some of the yummy drinks that we bought. It was just lovely.

Yesterday I took Nugget to the zoo by myself. It was actually really fun, she gets so excited by the animals and we could go at whatever pace we wanted. She's so cute, how she yells "hi hi hi" to the animals and makes kiss noises at them. I wore her most of the time, although she did want to walk around on her own after we went to pet the goats. Managed to get a nap out of her on the drive home, and then did some gardening after a little rest once we got home. I harvested some Kale from my garden and cooked it for dinner. So satisfying to eat something I grew myself.
Today, we did some yardwork and started the process of clearing out some old firewood in the yard, and managed to fill two yard bags before I discovered an effing giant spider under a piece of wood and decided it was time to stop for the day. We took Nugget over to my BFF's house and we shared a babysitter and went on a double date to see Wonder Woman, which was sooooo good!
