Ugh. I just read the comments on a facebook post about Sen. Donnelley honor MLK in Indy today. Several people were asking why he hadn't made a statement in regards to the "shithole" comment.
The responses from other constituents?

And I think if we stopped telling ourselves that people who say outrageous racist things are not being serious, and start believing that not only do they believe these things, but many of the leaders who take these same outrageous things and sanitize them, repackage them in language of laws & economics, and try to blunt the hard edge of the words believe them as well, and that many, many average people also believe these things, we'll have a much more accurate picture of what America actually is and fully explains why our government, society, economy, and media are as racist and unequal as they are.
