What are you working on?
Anyone get new "toys" for the holidays?
Any bigger plans for crafting during this new year, beyond just this month?

I got some snow-day sewing in yesterday, finished a dino plushie commission and a Star Wars dice bag for DH. My new holiday toy was the Brother 6000i sewing machine I got to open a month early, which I'm still having fun with. My BIL also got me some sewing machine accessories for christmas, and I got a cutting mat, acrylic ruler and rotary cutter with a gift card from my boss. The rotary cutter is a game changer for cutting fabrics!

I tried macrame for the first time! I really loved it. Probably should have gone with something less complicated for my first try but I think it turned out well. I need to figure out the best place to buy rope to build a stash. It seems pricey at all the typical places like amazon and hobby lobby. Theirs is about the same price as the nice stuff on Etsy.

I was supposed to be taking a break, but picked up my knitting again last night. I'm working on gift for a friend. I also plan on giving a couple of afghan throws as gifts again next year for Christmas and plan on starting those soon, probably towards the end of the month.
My other big goal for this year is to learn to crochet.
No crafty gifts for Christmas for me this year.

This is baby month for us so not sure how much crafting will get done. I'm trying to finish 3 hand cut chenille baby quilts, two for DH's friend who just had twins and one for our daughter. I also have some flannel that I want to make into some burp cloths.

This is apparently Fix All The Shirts Month. Several family members all asked to have shirts fixed within the same week. Lol. I finally decided on a design for a coat rack (bonus is that I already have most, if not all, of the materials I need). After that, I hope to get around to some curtains and artwork for around the house.
Can anyone share the pros and cons of various vinyl, such as good and/or bad types, brands, etc? I'm looking to use some on a throw pillow (so obviously a fabric application), some on a sign (haven't decided the material yet), and some window cling vinyl, so I'm hitting on all the different styles of vinyl basically. TIA!

I got 2 Joann's GCs and a quilting book for Christmas, plus some baking gear I wanted, so I did pretty well in the crafty department :-) I used the GCs to buy yarn and I'm almost done with a scarf for myself as my first 2018 finish. Hope to have pictures of it done on Monday!

TIA! For fabric application I like Sisser Easy Weed, Michael's sells it but it is cheaper online. Cricut brand vinyl is nice but again, more expensive than it needs to be. For signs I would recommend Oracle 651 (permanent application, not technically dishwasher safe), you can get rolls and 12x12 sheets on Amazon for decent prices and lots of vinyl online stores. A "good" price is less than 50 cents a square foot. This brand will work on wood, glass, just about any smooth surface. Do NOT put this on wood or it might damage the drywall when you go to peel it off. Avoid Cricut brand and the off brands at Hobby Lobby, the stuff isn't nearly as good as Oracle. If you want a temporary application Oracle 631 is good (walls, etc.).

I have a wall-hanging applique I'm working on but I need to find the right border fabric to finish it up. Then I've got some warm-clothes sewing on the to-do list before we go to Alaska in February.
I've told DH that I want a new sewing machine for my birthday so I need to start researching and decide what I want.

My goal for this month is to make reusable sandwich bags for the kids. Once I get the sandwich size done then I’ll make. A few snack size bags too. If I find the time, I have fabric to make myself a hoodie.

I'm doing a temperature afghan challenge this year. Crochet 1 row a say, with the color depending on the temperature. 7 days in and I finally got to change colors.

I recently joined a historical sewing group and our first project is a 1920s dress. It *seems* easy enough, though there is no real pattern so that's a little intimidating. We shall see how it turns out. I really want a fancy headpiece to go with it.

My goal for this month is to make reusable sandwich bags for the kids. Once I get the sandwich size wrong then I’ll make. A few snack size bags too. If I find the time, I have fabric to make myself a hoodie. What fabric do you use to make snack bags? PUL? Or do you line them with vinyl and use cotton on the outside?

I have a crap ton of PUL left over from when I was making diapers that I was going to use. I haven't made any yet so this is all one big experiment! lol

One of the Joann stores near me is closing and when I went on Saturday, they had a bunch of PUL diaper-making packs left for a really good discount, might go back and get some to use for snack bags!

I kinda want to do one of those color change blankets, but as a quilt. Hmmmm. Anyhow, project done! Just in time for a warm spell, lol. Oh well, still happy to have a handmade scarf again. It's super long too, I think I can loop it 3 times and still have decently long ends.

My first crocheted sweater with a matching bonnet. Made with love (and bernat baby blanket tiny in gray owl) for my daughter who was born at 30 weeks in December. With any luck she will wear this set home from the NICU soon ❤

I think I might make temperature afghans for Dd1 and Dd2. Starting with the day they were born, and ending with their 1st birthdays. I've gotten all the temps written down, will just have to buy yarn and figure out a pattern and get started.

I have made a bunch of shirts. Valentines shirts for my boys, school pride shirts for my niece and big bro/ little bro for a baby shower.
I'm working on ds2's valentines now but should be finished today.
I started a hexagon crochet blanket last year but never finished. My goal is to have that done this spring. I love the temp blankets. I might have to do that next.

LO wanted some easy items for pretend play, so I had a good excuse to take a break from mending and do some more exciting sewing projects for an hour or so. He was so proud of his work (he did a good chunk of it with my assistance).

I decided to make afghan for the girls based on the daily temperatures of their 1st year. Went oit on Monday during a blizzard amd bought the yard and gpt started. In the last 2 days I've done 30 rows of crochet with 224 stitches per row. My right wrist is so sore today. The blue one is mine that I do 1 row a day The red/orange is for Dd1 I have 2 rows done on Dd2's (she picked a purple color scheme) that I dont have a picture of.

Here's a handbag I made from stretch velvet for a 1920s tea I went to yesterday. I did a little beading on the side, but it's hard to see.
