Some of us in the TI/IUI thread were talking about how we would like a check in for weight loss and getting healthy. We wanted to open it up to all IF. We don't really interact much as a board, and we wanted to participate with everyone.
Here are a few questions I thought of, but feel free to add more! Also, do we want this to be a weekly or monthly check in?
1. Tell us about yourself (since a lot of people may not know each other).
2. What is your long-term goal (weight loss, tone up, stay healthy)?
3. What is your short-term goal this week/month?
4. What is your favorite go to meal/snack?

1. I am a Librarian, mom to an almost 4yr old, and have been trying for another for about 2.5yrs. My H and I have been married for close to 13yrs, and we just moved to a bigger city that we both love!
2. Right now I’m at 268lbs. Not my heaviest, but I’m definitely not happy with the number. My goal is to lose 100lbs over the next year. I’m just starting the keto diet for the first time now.
2. For the short-term, I just want to get thru my first week on the keto diet! No sugar is HARD! I’m also doing a diet-bet with some friends (8wk long bet), and I need to lose 16.2lbs (5%) to make my goal.
4. I love hard boiled eggs and daikon radishes! So yummy!
5. I think a weekly check in would be good. Each week can be a struggle on its own.

Hi librariangirl! Good luck with the sugar detox on keto! How is it going so far? Do you eat the radishes raw?

orangehibiscus I MISS SUGAR!!! Uhg. This detox is SO HARD. I'm doing ok so far. I forgot my lunch this morning in the mad dash out of the house though, so now I have to try to find somewhere close to work where I can get something on my diet. I do eat the daikon radishes raw. I cut them up into sticks, like carrots and eat them that way. SO GOOD! How are you doing?

1. Hi y'all! I'm OrangeHibiscus (AKA GABride2010 on the other site). I'm 30 years old. H and I have been married for almost 8 years (next month). We have been TTC #1 for 2 years. I love being outdoors camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing. I also love to watch TV and movies.
2. I need to lose about 75-100lbs total. I was doing low carb last Fall, but fell off the wagon and subsequently burned it to the ground! I need to get back on track, but I have to rid my house of Christmas goodies first. I'm planning on getting back on low carb. I'm also planning on joining a gym to do cardio on an elliptical.
3. My short term goal is to drink at least 32oz of water every day this week. That would be a significant improvement for me.
4. I love string cheese and those mini Babybel cheese rounds. I also love cashews, macadamias, and honey roasted peanuts.
I agree that a weekly check in would be good.

It's that, or walk to the grocery store and get some fresh produce and maybe a hard boiled egg or two. Let me know what you think of the radishes!

Also, do we want this to be a weekly or monthly check in? 1. Tell us about yourself (since a lot of people may not know each other). Hi, I’m Hoosiermama76. I was shugirl76 on the TB and TCF. I have a DD who is 3, and I am almost 42. Been TTC #2 for 18 months. I got pregnant with DD first month at almost 38, and I thought it would be so easy a year and a half later. Stupid. We have done two rounds of IVF, with a freeze all the second. I have done two transfers, one fresh and one frozen. The first resulted in an early loss, and the second a BFN. We have two embryos left. DH and I have been married 8 years almost. 2. What is your long-term goal (weight loss, tone up, stay healthy)? I have always been active, but at 35 yo packed it on. I ended up having weight loss surgery at 39, and I lost 90 pounds, but I have gained 20 back since starting fertility treatments. I want to go back to low carb, with at least 125 g of protein, and increase water. I exercise hard core almost every day, but I know it’s my diet that is the issue. 3. What is your short-term goal this week/month? 5 pounds, a gallon of water a day, and not eating after 8 pm. 4. What is your favorite go to meal/snack? Nuts, yogurt, cheese!!!! ETA: forgot a word

1. Tell us about yourself (since a lot of people may not know each other). Hi ladies! Thanks for the check in, orangehibiscus! I’m obscureference and I am 41 years old. We have been TTC for 18 months and I am starting month 3 of meds. My story is very similar to yours, hoosiermama76! It really sucks how much difference a year and a half can make! 2. What is your long-term goal (weight loss, tone up, stay healthy)? Long-term goal is to get healthy by losing weight and generally taking better care of myself. I’ve decided 2018 is going to be the year of me and I’m going to stop putting myself last. This includes some regular doctors visits that I’ve put off. I’m trying to shift my focus away from TTC because it is making my head not in a good place. 3. What is your short-term goal this week/month? This week I want to get back to my diet and exercise that I was doing pre-holidays. I also have eliminated 1 of my 2 diet sodas that I drink daily. I usually try to up things gradually so I will see how it goes for the next two weeks or so before I change anything else. I am a chicken and decided to do one week of dieting and exercising before weighing in to see what damage the holidays did. Lol 4. What is your favorite go to meal/snack? Eggs and string cheese. I really try to make my snacks heavy on the protein to try and stay full. I do weight watchers to lose weight. I have tried low carb and I can never stick to it, even though it works for me, too. Good luck ladies! I really hope we can all reach all of our goals this year!!!

Oo librariangirl I started keto this week too! I also weigh almost exactly what you do! I need to drop at least 30 before we can proceed with our IVF cycle (so get down to 235ish).

1) fikafairy here, I mostly live on the IVF thread on this board. I’m 32, DH is 35, we have a 5 yr old DS and lost our DD at 27 weeks last September to Kell isoimmunization (blood incompatibility). We are doing PGD to prevent another loss, since it’s a 50/50 shot of dealing with the same complication. I work in education consulting, and I love coffee.
2) long term goal is to drop at least 75 lbs, closer to 100 for my super long term goal. Then my goal is to keep it off for good.
3) I also started keto this week, and my goal is to stick to the plan I have, track everything in MFP, and start workouts once my no-carb hangover stops in the next couple days. I keep getting headaches, so I’m going to wait a couple more days, drink some more water, and go from there.
4) currently it’s this buffalo chicken dip-like stuff I made in my IP. Wishing I had crunchy pretzels or tortilla chips to use with it, but I’m slowly learning to appreciate celery and pepper sticks instead.

1. Tell us about yourself (since a lot of people may not know each other). Hi I'm ap21ril! I'm 30, DH is 33 and we've been TTC #1 on/off since 2011. DH has had several health issues that culminated in a liver transplant in March 2016, so we weren't TTC for 15 months prior to/during that, and for another 20 months of nursing school for me. We were diagnosed with unexplained infertility in Feb of last year.
2. What is your long-term goal (weight loss, tone up, stay healthy)? My weight has kicked over into the overweight category, and I've been eating terribly lately. I really want to get on a sustainable healthy eating plan and work out, even just 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week.
3. What is your short-term goal this week/month? I gave up caffeine per RE recommendation in November, but have just fallen back on caffeine free Diet Coke instead of regular. I'd like to cut down to maybe 3 sodas a week, and drink more water.
4. What is your favorite go to meal/snack? Healthy- chicken salad with hard boiled eggs and a Greek vinaigrette. Not so healthy- I love eating hot Cheetos and BBQ sunflower seeds. I'm waiting to start my diet until all of the ones I got for Christmas stocking stuffers are gone, because I have no self control, but can't bring myself to toss them.

Yay! I'm so glad to have others participating in this thread! hoosiermama76 What kind of exercise do you do? Welcome obscureference! Good for you for putting yourself first! I'm sorry TTC is making you not in a good place. Yay for cutting back on your cokes! Hi fikafairy! I'm so sorry for the loss of your DD. How is keto going so far for you? What workouts are you planning? If a few more attempts of TI don't work for us, then we'll be doing IVF, and I have to lose 30lbs before we will be eligible for IVF. I hope we can both get the weight off! I had no idea your H had a liver transplant ap21ril! What area of nursing do you work in? What are your plans for exercise?

orangehibiscus, so far yesterday was the worst day re: cravings (I started Monday, with trying to be aware of the carbs on NYE but not eliminating them). I have a plan for the rest of this week and a tentative plan for next week. DH was being obnoxious about the no carbs sometimes, at least until last night when I told him to cut it out or he had to fend for himself all the time for lunch and dinner.

librariangirl Good luck with diet bet! That's so cool. I tried it when preparing for our wedding, thinking it would be so easy because I'd be so motivated, but I ended up failing. So my hope is that many others fail and you get an awesome payout, lol!! obscureference Lol, that must have been a hard toss-up between avoiding the scary post-holiday number, and watching your first week of progress - I hope you are very pleasantly surprised at your first weigh-in! Weekly or monthly check in? Weekly or every two weeks sounds helpful. 1. Tell us about yourself. Hi, I'm Sunshiney (BunnyBerry on TCF). I'm 32 and a school administrator, DH is 37 and an IT tech, we've been married 7 months. No kids. I went through 7 years of IF, 3 losses from IVF with the ex. RE tells us we'll start treatment in April if we're not KU by then. 2. What is your long-term goal? Feel better. By being healthier, more active, stronger, and more confident in my appearance. Will require losing weight and getting fit again. 3. What is your short-term goal this week/month? This week - make a family "getting healthy" plan - determine what the goals and process will be (my mom, dad, sis, and DH have all decided to do this together and I'm supposed to spearhead it). 4. What is your favorite go to meal/snack? Chocolate. But it's started giving me migraines so I'm on a long road to breaking the addiction.

orangehibiscus Yes! He is 100% back to normal now. Donation is truly an amazing thing that can be done in the most difficult of situations. I'm a Medical/Oncology nurse, though am planning on applying to L&D/post-partum once there is an opening. They're just few and far between since it's a much desired place to work. As far as exercise, my BIL and SIL live next door, and have an elliptical that they don't mind me using. I am starting with that a few times a week, and will potentially join a gym later in the year. Have you started working out at all? I'm a lazy person, and sometimes have trouble with motivation To me, it is much easier to eat healthy than it is to get up and exercise, but I know both will help me.

Sorry chocolate gives you migraines sunshiney! It's great that you have several family members getting fit together so you have a lot of support. I'm so glad to hear that your H is recovered ap21ril! I had no idea you were a Med Onc nurse! I'm a Heme/Onc NP! I wanted to do L&D when I was in nursing school, but I was never able to do it as a nurse. Oncology found me, and I absolutely love it! I really want to buy an elliptical, but buying a decent one is really expensive. I'm considering joining a local gym, but I'm trying to decide if I'll actually go or not before I commit to spending the money. I also have trouble with motivation. H and I are going to do a snowshoe 5K in a couple of weeks, so I'm looking forward to that. I would so much rather go outside and exercise than go to a gym. If I had an elliptical at home, I would definitely work out on that!

orangehibiscus so far so good! I cheated a little bit yesterday on the carbs, but when I checked this morning I’m 4.6 lbs down! It’s day 6, and I’m sure a decent amount is water weight but I will take it 👍 How are you??

fikafairy Awesome start! orangehibiscus I was able to get a good brand elliptical that's usually $800 for about $450 including shipping on Amazon two years ago in January. It took a few weeks to arrive but I love it and use it a lot (well before the ankle injury...). For me I finally decided it was worth it because it's what I spend most time at the gym on anyway and I can use it for years, and it's so easy to do 10 min at a time here and there so I'm way more consistent.

Well, it is everywhere, but we only really see stage 4, and AML/NHL; it's just awful to see these wonderful people brought down so much. I think I'd potentially like outpt better, but am not ready for a M-F job haha! How'd you decide to go the NP route? You can PM me, or answer in this week's thread if you'd rather.

1. Tell us about yourself. Hi, I'm Grover. I'm 31, and a special ed teacher in middle school. H and I are coming up on our 8th wedding anniversary this summer, and we have 1 DD who is almost a year old. She arrived to the date of 4 years of starting TTC, with the help of IUI. We've been TTC #2 since I was cleared at my post-partum check, and sure enough, are dealing with IF again. Plan is to go back to RE in May so I can do treatments without missing too much work.
2. What is your long-term goal? Be healthier and more confident. Would like to lose 30 pounds (50 would be great, but that's under high school weight. And I don't want to have to cut out everything forever, so for long term I believe in moderation. And if that means 30 pound loss instead of 50, so be it.)
3. What is your short-term goal this week/month? This week- go to 1 or 2 gym classes. Have a plan to go with a friend on Wednesday and I'd like to also hit up a Zumba class on Friday.
4. What is your favorite go to meal/snack? Sweets. My favorite healthy snack is bell peppers.
