I've been wracking my brain all morning but I think I should just ask for opinions. I am on a pretty extreme budget for DS' birthday party, but need to serve lunch for about 15-20 people. I am going to make everything from scratch to save. The tricky part is there is no kitchen (otherwise I'd just make hot dogs and call it a day). I can bring the slowcooker in though.
What are some cheap but decent tasting items I could make?

Cold cut wraps that you can cut into pinwheels? You can do hot dogs in the crock-pot, salads, veggie platter

I forget, is there a theme? Not really! It's at the children's museum

Chips and dip... you can always do some sort of nacho bar- chips, cheese in the crock pot and then have salsa, diced tomatoes, etc on the side for toppings

If you don't want to do pork, you can do the same thing with chicken or beef. Just throw it in the crockpot with a bottle of BBQ sauce. It's so easy.

Hmm if I gave pork in the freezer that would really help, I would just have to buy buns and we could have pulled pork and pasta salad. Will also buy chips drinks, and make the cake. That sounds really good.

Pulled pork sounds great.
Also sloppy joes could work if you have the ground beef.
I also do buffalo 🐔 chicken dip in the Crock-Pot.

Make a huge batch of chili, you can use whatever ground meat is cheapest and full it with canned tomatoes/beans/mushrooms. Maybe add zucchini. Get a big bag of bulk buns.
Or tuna sandwiches could be pretty cheap.
Pasta salad with chicken and veggies added.

Pulled pork is my cheap, easy go to. My store (Kroger) typically has pork loin for bogo free.
Other ideas: *taco bar- ground meat in Crock-Pot, toppings, and shells alongside. *Crock-Pot hotdogs, chips, watermelon *Mac n cheese in the Crock-Pot, chips, veggie tray *Baked potato bar, potatoes in Crock-Pot, toppings like crumbled bacon, cheese, broccoli, sour cream, etc.

I was going to say pulled pork or chicken but it looks like I'm late to the party. That's what I did for E's baptism I think, when we had people over for lunch after. Chicken BBQ sandwiches, different salads and drinks. Cake and you're done.

My thought was taco bar (shocking!) Cook the meat before and keep it warm in the crock pot. The rest is just toppings.
My answer will always be taco bar 😂

Taco bar os my favourite option by far but I don't think I can swing it buying the meat.

You could also do cold foods like chicken salad or cold cut sandwiches.

Veggie chili (dried beans are cheap) or make a large casserole pan of homemade mac and cheese.
Pasta salad is also a good option.
Egg salad sandwiches (also inexpensive) for the adults and pb&j for the kids.
If you're on a tight budget I'd definitely go with vegetarian.
