Hi 👋🏻 I wanted to pop in and intro - I'm Bosco, I've been a member of the bump & TCF for nearly 3 years. I used to play in TTGP on the bump and I'm a reg on July 15. I have a nearly 2 year old daughter and we're TTC for #2. I need somewhere to dump all my ttc thoughts...I told myself I wouldn't be so stressy about it this go 'round but 🤷♀️ I'm a bit rusty on my charting skills - can someone take a peek for me? This is month 2 of TTC, and I've been getting SUPER long LH surges (I'm on day 6 of super clear/strong positives this month). Dr google tells me this isn't normal. Also, FF is having my O as CD16, but I got my 2 most obvious positives on CD17 and 18 (I denoted those as peak because they were the darkest I've ever seen). Help? Thanks for welcoming me into your community! www.fertilityfriend.com/home/4a61e5

Regarding your positive OPKs. The research and google results will vary. A lot of women stop after day 1 of a super positive, others keep going. My best advice is to continue to temp/OPK until you see a good pattern each month then drop the OPKs altogether (or stop after day 1-2 positive). I, personally, would stop doing OPKs after day 2 of a positive, and especially if you have a temp rise. I hope this makes sense! It is very clear that you ovulated on CD 16. joy may have more info on why you have several days of LH surges. (She may not, but she's usually my go-to)

Also, try to remember that sometimes it could just be a fluke and not an indication of something being wrong. Some of the google results I found suggest multiple reasons for a long LH surge, PCOS being one. So it may be trial and error for a while.

Thanks whitney! I remember you from my bump days. I saw that PCOS can cause multiple days of positives too. I'm going to read that link you posted now, but I've never heard of a positive AFTER O (and like I said - 17 and 18 were super super dark.). Guess we'll wait and see, thanks for your input! I don't have any other symptoms of PCOS and have had a 28-31 day cycle for at least a year (I had a paragaurd). Figures the month we start really trying, things go wonky!

It could just be a fluke! Also, maybe use an OPK during another part of your cycle and see how the test reacts. Are you using the cheapies?

I'm not totally convinced you ovulated yet. You only really had two days of obviously higher temps, could there be any other reason for those temps being higher? Drinking? Medication? Weather/blankets? Temp time? Poor sleep?
My only experience with long LH surges is when it's been a surge that didn't lead to ovulation. Looking back at my charts, pretty much every time I had a surge that lasted more than 2 days I had multiple surges during that cycle and the long one never let to ovulation. Totally anecdotal, but that's my experience.

I have also only experienced prolonged +OPKs when my body geared up to ovulate, but didn't actually get there. I ended up ovulating on CD 30 instead of CD 19 when I got my first +. (This only happened to me one month though) Anything been different this month that could affect your chart?

Nothing out of whack to cause those two higher temps, nope. I've been pretty consistent with the same time every morning, give or take 20 mins here and there!
Thanks for the stalks...guess we'll see where it ends up in a few days. I played with my temps the next few days (I know, dumb), and unless my temp goes way back up, my CH go away.

My first instinct when looking at your chart is that you didn't O yet. That could've just been an early surge. Just keep temping (and having sex!), and time will tell.

Positive OPKs are same intensity or greater than test line. Are yours close or or obviouslu positive? Just curious...

I'm not convinced either. I've had a couple of random cycles where I had clear +OPKs for a few days. I'm on day 2 of a strong + and not temp shift yet. I don't have PCOS. Keep charting and hopefully in a couple days things will be more clear.

Welcome!
I'm not convinced you O'd. You had opks positive after, only 2 temps high, and the cover line seems really low compared to your past charts, which were closer to 97.9-98.0. I would keep charting and trying and see if you get another spike.

+however many to thinking you didn't O yet. FF just works on the data it has at the moment. So it can still change your crosshairs.

Thanks guys - y'all are so helpful! budders I remember you too from the bump! My temp stayed about the same today as yesterday and I lost my CH. As far as my OPKs - they range from *very obviously* positive or too close to call - day 7 now!

Welcome!! +however many to thinking you haven't O'd yet. Keep on keeping on with temping and such. Hopefully you'll begin to see a pattern with your cycles soon.

Have you ever used any other brand of opk? Have you been using this brand for multiple cycles? If getting several days of positives continues to be an issue, you might try a different brand. Maybe one that's less sensitive would work better.

I hope it's appropriate for me to check back in! I got a BFP this afternoon. I'm thinking it had to have been a faulty batch of OPKs giving me such strong positives, because I'm only 7DPO per my chart and it popped right up (on a wondfo and FRER) instantly, quite dark and not even FMU. So I don't know how far along I truly am. Thanks all for your help in my short time here!

OPKs can also be used to detect pregnancy, so that is interesting that you had so many positives, and your chart is still not clear. But no matter, it all worked out!
