mkrupar no advice about the hands. I feel like I remember this from DD1 and the pedi said it takes months for them to regulate temps of hands and feet. Obviously we don’t want our babies uncomfortable though. Yay on the unswafdling success!! For me, LO wakes 12 and 4 to eat. The 4am one is killing me because I get up for work at 5. Any suggestions? I don’t think she’s ready to drop the feed at 4 mo old but mornings are so early right now... What time does LO go down for the night? Can you push bedtime back an hour and see if she wakes later? Are you ok with her waking when you do? How would that affect your morning routine? LO has been going down after DD1 (between 7:30-8ish) though sometimes she falls asleep in the swing before and just pretty much stays asleep during transfer. I’m actually trying to put her to bed first tonight and hoping maybe she’ll shift her times and hour earlier. I’d really rather she not be up at 5 only because she naps so terrible at daycare but If earlier doesn’t work then I am going to try later like you suggested because I bet I could get her to take a morning catnap while I get ready for work in the swing. Babies and sleep man... sheesh!

Bumping this...
We are still at 2 wake ups. I thought it was the 4 month regression but it’s not tapering off. Midnight and 3am, up at 7am. I feed him at both times and he’s right back down, but should I try not feeding? He’s 5 months next Sunday and used to sleep 7-8 hours straight. 😕

curmudgeon DS is waking twice a night to eat still too. He sleeps 7-1:30/2ish and then again at about 5, up for the day at 7:30 or so. He is just a little peanut so I’m ok to keep feeding him overnight for a while. I would have been happier if he could do 7-11 and then 11-5 but he dropped the 10:30/11pm feeding instead 🤷♀️

If I know LO is going to wake up soon and I want to go to sleep, I’ll just feed him so I can get a little more sleep myself. If you’re going to bed at 10, feed him then, and then maybe that will extend the sleep for only one wake up? Might be worth a shot.

DS routine got a little screwy last week from being sick so he’s been up every 3 hrs at night and wouldn’t go back down unless he was fed or needed comfort nursing after getting the snot sucked out of him. He also started rolling and naps have been crap so I’m not sure which is to blame? 🤷🏻♀️ DST also doesn’t help. From what I hear everyone despises DST. What politician thinks it’s a good idea?!

Up at 2 and ate, at 5 I heard him talking over the monitor and I ignored him and he fell back asleep til 8. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME, BABY?
I’d let him fuss longer to see if he’d go back to sleep but his room is right next to DS1 and I don’t want his cries or babbling to wake his brother.

Lately we have one MOTN wakeup that is not for food, she's just AWAKE. I thought we left this behind at the 4 month regression (she's 5.5 months). Anyone else dealing with this? 99% of the time I bring her to our bed because I'm too tired to keep getting up. I want to let her fuss/babble longer and see if she'll settle herself too, but she's in our room and I'm also worried she'll wake DD1. Arrgh, 2nd babies.

If DS2 woke up twice a night I'd be in heaven lol. He's taking right after his brother of waking up many times a night to feed. Rarely have I known a night's sleep without at least 4 wakeups between the two of them, usually more. I will give him though that he will typically go right back to sleep after feeding, so the wakeups aren't long - but now that I say that I'll probably jinx that too lol.

Guys DS will not sleep alone and I am so over it. He was napping and doing the first night stretch in a bed until we came back from holidays and now he is a nightmare. Doesn’t help that he has been napping in carriers or his car seat at the hospital for the past week and a half. Today I tried for over an hour and SIX transfers to put him down for a nap and every time I did he woke up screaming, the longest stretch was 6 minutes. I refuse to nap hold him constantly, I have stuff to do and a 3 year old to take care of. I have tried putting him down sleepy awake but he screams (and CIO is not for me), tried putting down when he just falls asleep or when he is sound asleep, both he wakes in minutes. He has been waking every hour at bedtime and won’t settle himself again so I have to go put him back to sleep hourly until I bring him into our bed and then he passes out for hours (like 10-5). I have a sound machine going already. HELP, I am losing my marbles over here

DD was a crap sleeper until we did the no cry sleep solution at 9 months and now she is a rockstar. I just can’t get anything done or spend any 1:1 time with DD and it’s slowly killing me

Welp, turns out maybe my kid is a tummy sleeper. DD’s sleep woes improved exponentially once we figured that out so I decided to try with DS on a whim after he woke up after 21 minutes. He has now been sleeping for an hour!!!!! If this is the answer I will be so beyond thrilled
ETA: talking to myself over here. Feel free to ignore 😛

I'm glad you seem to have found a solution, and if it's only a temporary one at least baby finally got a solid nap!!

Only co-sleeping seemed to work until he was around 6 mos old and could roll on to his tummy. Then things got better. He is still not the best sleeper and wakes 1-3 times per night even though he is almost 3, but I just think some kids are really bad sleepers. DS2 is sooooo much better at sleeping, and we haven't done anything different with him. 🤷♀️ Sorry you are going through this!

He can roll both ways now and is super strong so I decided to give it a try. He’s been asleep for 2 hours no wake up which is already better than the past couple nights!

Put him down on his tummy at 7:30 and he didn’t make a peep before I went to bed at 11:30! DH and I weren’t comfortable leaving him on his tummy overnight since he’d only had one tummy nap prior so I grabbed him and brought him into our bed and he kept sleeping!!! 7:30-3:45 with no wake ups, wahooooooo!!!! Ate at 3:45 and 6:00 and kept sleeping until 7:30. Best feeling this morning!

I hate to sound like a broken record here but I'm so tired of naps.
I'm trying to get her down to 3 naps a day, but really that relies on her taking a long nap at noon - which she never does. She wakes from all afternoon naps tired, and would probably go down every hour if I let her but won't immediately go back to sleep. Damn that's just not happening.

cythe I was literally just reading that prior to 6 months most babies aren’t ready for a set nap schedule with 3 naps at set times. I try for the most part to just follow tired cues and on a good nap day it is 3 naps but on a not so good nap day it might be 4-5 naps especially if they are on the go car naps. I don’t really have any advice just commiseration. I remember life being so much easier to plan once DD was napping at specific times and especially once she dropped down to 2 naps, right now I just feel like we are winging it with no schedule every day

We waffle between a 3 nap schedule and 4 nap schedule and mostly it's all dependant on what time she wakes up. I mathematically have it all planned out and the baby just laughs and laughs and laughs at me. And then doesn't nap even remotely close to what I'd like, haha. I'm struggling with tired cues because after noon she's literally tired all the time. She wakes and eats and falls asleep at the boob after being awake for 30 mins, but won't go back to sleep for reals. Eye rubs, red eyes the whole shebang. If she'd just nap longer once a day, she would be so much happier!

I don't know what's up with my kid. She rarely naps unless it's a car nap. On a good day we get one, 1-hour nap. On a bad day, nothing. At night she cries for 15 minutes, then sleeps for 15-30 minutes, repeat this cycle until about 11:30 every night. I'm beside myself with exhaustion. She is too.

Ahhh I'm glad we're not the only ones in sleep hell. We've consistently been putting the baby down between 7 - 7:30. He wakes at 11, 3, 5, then 7:30 ish. I'm slowly going fucking insane. Sometimes he skips the 3am which is nice lol.
I may try a dream feed tonight before bed. I've been avoiding it because I keep thinking that he'll straighten himself out but. .. doesn't seem to be happening.

Re: belly sleeping - DS1's sleep improved IMMENSELY when he could roll over on his belly.
DS2 has slept on his belly from day 1. He just...would.not.lay.on.his.back. Ever. Scream bloody hell. So now that he rolls all around, it's moot. He's on his belly usually but sometimes side or back. I would have hoped his sleep would be better. ::sigh::
He does ok with naps though so....at least there's that.

cythe thechickencoop we are trying to encourage her to roll, I think that may help. She had been a good sleeper until a month ago. Tonight she is in her bassinet in our room because she would not sleep in her own room tonight for anything. I told DH: if it’s stupid but it works, then it’s not stupid!
