Hello all. I'm currently breastfeeding my second son who is two weeks old. For the past week all of his poop has been dark green. It has the seedy consistency that breastfed poop should be. He had the normal mustard colored poop up to this point. At 6 days old he was back to birth weight and he appears to be growing. I'm going to put a call in to my doctor but I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with green poop. He can be pretty gassy but doesn't have any colic like symptoms. TIA!

Green poop can be in the range of normal. It can also be a sign of something else. The seedy consistency makes me lean towards more normal than not but:
1. Do you have oversupply? I think the yellow poop part comes from the fattier part of breast milk(hindmilk) so if you have oversupply baby might be getting lots of the fore milk.
2. It could be a good sensativity like dairy. This is exactly how DD1s dairy sensitivity started. Green poops progressed to frothy popes and eventually specks of blood. I eventually gave up all dairy and soy till she weaned at 15 months.
Oversupply is easier to fix than a food sensitivity. Dairy is in everything. I would definitely watch the poop over the next week to see if it stays green and seedy or progresses to frothy or even contains specks of blood.
