I hate calling them resolutions - i feel like i set myself up to fail when i do. But i do set new goals.
I want to really work on lowing my blood sugar and losing weight. I need too - I don't want to become diabetic. I am looking into the keto diet - as it's pretty low carb and the recipes look good. and it lets me eat cheese. Does anyone have any experience with this? pros / cons you might want to share?
I am also going to continue to work on my patience with the kids and to try to do more fun stuff with them. Like once a month visit a different state/federal park. Make an entire day out of it - play, hike, canoe, picnic and whatnot depending on what is available.

I do not have personal experience with the keto diet, but my cousin started it this past year and I think he lost about 60 pounds (he’s about 6’5” so that sounds like a ton of weight, but part of it is him being so tall.) It seemed very intense at first, but I think that’s the first stage. He’s committed to it and is permanently in the maintenance mode of it now. But he is also someone with no sweet tooth and he rarely drinks, which I think has helped him to be successful with it.

I am going to run the NYC marathon in November, and I want to really focus on training so that I can run a good race. I am going to keep a running journal and add strength training into my routine.
I’d also like to focus on healthier eating.
And, I’d like to open an Etsy shop.

I want to possibly try to remove things from S1 diet to see if it makes a difference in his ADHD. It seems daunting though

Wrapping paper and stationary. I design tons of repeating patterns and have been working on wrapping paper designs for a few months. I need to do the printing and set a store up though.

jedi, I don’t know if there’s something similar with ADHD, but my nephew is on the spectrum and he is now on a gluten free diet and it seems to really help.

I have no experience with keto RunsforWineandCarbs but I have been playing in the paleo world all year and they talk quite a bit about keto. I think it can be intense but when you're facing health conditions, sometimes it's worth it, much like the autoimmune protocol or elimination diet. I say try some recipes! Even if you don't go 100% keto, the reduction in carbs from cooking keto dinners would probably really help too. Like I am def not paleo but I have tried to cook paleo meals and I end up batting around 80% which I think is a huge improvement anyway.

I love cheese but I love carbs and your body needs carbs so I couldn’t do keto.
Also, it would make sense you’d lose weight not eating carbs. Carbs retain water. Water makes the scale higher.
You need a calorie deficit to lose weight. Many diets can do this, including keto. But as soon as you start eating more carbs your weight will go up.

1. Get a morning routine down that doesn't involve hitting snooze a million times and then rushing with no breakfast. Ideally I want to start doing my morning pages again, I found that super helpful.
2. Walk more

1. Have this baby and settle in as a family of 4 without too much chaos. I hope, not that I really have an alternative at this point. 2. Work some sort of activity into my life (after I'm cleared of course)

RunsforWineandCarbs I believe kaeguri does keto. My goals: •stick to the budget. Save more money. •prioritize and strengthen my relationship with DH. The kids have so much of my attention/time that it's been put on a back burner •Be more active. Ideally I'd love to lose 20# • Be a better, more hands on, less grumpy parent.

I've really felt this has been a good year, in part because I think this is the year I've been able to be most giving in many ways. So in the new year I want to have a focus further on giving. I'd love to find a place where I could take M too volunteer after I have the baby. I'm also going to try and replace telling someone they're in my thoughts with asking how I can help.
I also want a strong focus in my relationship with H, we've both let it coast.
After June I want to focus on losing weight in a way I can maintain. I think I'm going to get a spin bike.

Love your goals armpants. I too am thinking of ways I can volunteer within my community to give back. I might start by getting involved with my church and see where that takes me.

I love that too armpants. One of the soup kitchens near me allows people to sign up to drop off baked goods. I want to start baking things with P for them, and bringing her for the drop off. I’d also like to get involved in our community garden, and I hope there’s a way to include P in that.

I did keto for several months and honestly, I felt great on it. I had a gluten sensitivity I didn't even realize until I started keto, but once I cut them out, all of my bloating and intermittent stomach cramping stopped. It was amazing. You will have to be on top of your electrolytes, as keto is a naturally diuretic way of eating, so that means supplementing with salt, magnesium (citrate is best for absorption), and potassium, but most of those last two should come from food (Spinach and avocado are high in potassium). Sole water, which is basically saturated salt water, can be added to water and you get used to the taste to the point where I craved it. Like at least 6,000mg sodium a day, although in summer and if you sweat, you need more. When I was working out in the summer, I'd need about 10,000mg sodium to not feel like death. Getting started can be kinda hard, but once you get used to it, maybe a week or so, it becomes second nature. If you fall short of your electrolytes, you'll feel it. Headaches, bloating, chills, muscle aches- basically it's what's called keto flu. There are several different ways of keto, what I did was a high protein and moderate fat version. You can calculate your macros at ketogains.com. The high fat version works the same as far as helping lowering blood sugar and blood pressure, but you will lose muscle mass, and that's something I was trying to avoid. When I was trying to lose weight, I was eating around 1300 calories a day, which doesn't sound like much, but all the protein and fat is really satiating. Carbs fill me up, but with an empty feeling. I rarely felt hungry, which was awesome. TBH, I didn't lose weight, but I was lifting heavy weights a ton and I lost several inches and it was visibly obvious. As soon as my food aversions go away, I'm going to back on keto-ish for the rest of my pregnancy just because I felt so much better on it. It can be pretty restrictive, as there aren't a ton of fruits you can eat and that was the biggest deal for me. Really, the only fruits allowed are small amounts of berries. And no root veggies, or anything with starch/sugar really (onions, tomatoes, carrots, etc). If you have anything else specific you want to ask, let me know!

I'm just going to copy flippinchica 's goals! Specifically for the second, there is a really large and very scenic 10k nearby in November I'd like to run. A modest goal for that would be under an hour, so I guess that might be my education-approved measureable, attainable but challenging for my current level goal.

1. Work on my relationship with H. I don't share too much here, but it's been rough and I really need to focus on working towards a happy marriage. 2. Get back on track in terms of healthy eating. This pregnancy I have really gone off the deep and I feel awful about it. 3. Stick to a budget!!! 4. Declutter and work on organizing my house.

I’ve gained weight and not liking my body at all right now. Getting back into the gym is a must. Tuesday is my first day back in... a while.
I want to keep this new house clean and organized. I plan to do mid week laundry on Wednesday am before my “late” work shift.
MH and I are doing well but I’ll put just as much or more effort into us this next year. This will probably include more device free nights and overnight stays with grandparents for N.
Big one is I’d like to be fully vegan by the end of 2018 and have MH okay with it. He’s been pretty good with me being vegetarian and then being dairy free again.

Is there any community acupuncture near you? My guy that does it offers a sliding scale, $15-$40 per session, whatever you feel you can pay.

I've been saying for a few years now that I want to write a little review at the end of every month of things we did/highlights/whatever, because I get to December every year and start to freak out because I can't even remember anything from the beginning of the year. So I'm going to stick to that.
I want to work on my patience and temper. I believe it's the way I display anxiety and, although it's not the worst thing, it's not enjoyable. I don't like how I just snap sometimes. As much as I am encouraging my H to see a therapist, I've been considering it too.
Also, crossing all the fingers that we agree to start trying for #2 and have success with it.
