enchanted - Christmas light "hunting" sounds fun! Sorry they're sick. FX everyone is well soon. J's 4.5 and crazy with holiday madness. She's excited for Christmas and her upcoming gift exchange at school and with her cousins. Otherwise, she's doing well. She was sick earlier this week with a random fever, but that seems to have passed. I'm okay. Slammed with holiday stuff. My mental load is way too heavy right now. QOTW: She looooves decorating the tree and the inside. She's also really into the Elf. We received one her first Christmas as a gift. We don't do anything crazy - the Elf moves at night and gets her Christmas pajamas for a job well done, but that's it. No crazy shenanigans here LOL

oldbaylover1024 There are about five to seven houses in our part of the city that set their lights to music. They broadcast the music and put a sign up so you know where to tune your radio so you can listen. My husband maps out a route and one night the week before Christmas, we go. In between houses, The Boy and I "hunt" for other houses with lights on them. This year Little Miss is FF so she'll be able to as well. He gets so excited when he sees a house lit up. We do this too! One of the houses is close enough that we go to it a few times in December, and then we make an evening of it and go see all the houses a few nights before Christmas day.

DS1 (6) has been doing well. All of us are still sick but him, which I'm still puzzled by Something bad though- "his" horse that lived at my parents' died this morning. I haven't told him yet, but we need to soon because we're going there this weekend. There's really no good time to do it, and he's going to take it really hard. QOTW: He loves it all. He completely soaks up this time of year. The lights, decorating, Christmas movies, cookies... he's all in.

hawkward - I'm sorry about "his" horse. Those conversations are tough. Maybe rip the Band-Aid before this weekend? {{hugs}} We recently had the conversation with J when my IL's dog died. She didn't take it as badly as I thought, but it didn't go well either. And now she thinks dog heaven is across the street from our house, so maybe I didn't do it right LOL

That way he'll have some time to think about it before bed, and he'll have time to process everything before we go. We had a dog euthanized about a year ago, but he, uh... went to live on a farm in northern MN. It's too far to drive to just for a visit...

Well, I did it shortly after he came home from school. And then I found out his beloved bus driver is quitting and he's been being picked on by an older kid on the bus and not telling anyone. Great.

I went into the school for DS1’s party, and I asked the receptionist who I would speak to about the bus. She said they take that very seriously and the principal would speak to both DS1 and the bus driver today.
H wants to switch him from his ninja class to actual jujitsu. I told him we’d wait and see what DS1 wants. Ninja is a big source of pride for him so I don’t want to take that away.
