How old is LO?
How's everything going?
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share?
0-1mo: How's your postpartum recovery going?
1-3mo: Getting through growth spurts okay?
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH?
GTKY: what’s something you wish you knew last week? What’s something you wish you knew this time last year?

How old is LO? 3 weeks tomorrow
How's everything going? About the same as last week. She's a little bit more awake this week so I've had more opportunity to put her to the breast.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share?
0-1mo: How's your postpartum recovery going? Me I'm more or less physically ok. No more massive clots. Just light bleeding still. I do have a cyst on one ovary that is going to require a referral to gynaecology. Mentally I'm still a work in progress.
1-3mo: Getting through growth spurts okay?
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I SAH for the first year (thank you Canada) but right now I'm still pumping every 2-3 hours during the day and once overnight to try and maintain my meagre supply until we can be seen by ENT.
GTKY: what’s something you wish you knew last week? What’s something you wish you knew this time last year? This time last year DD1 was 2 months old (exactly), so I wish I knew I was going to be having another newborn. I might have tried to pump or breastfeed just a little longer because I feel like I had more of a supply last time. As for last week, I wish I knew how long my EI was going to take to get paid (which I still don't know this week). This is the worst time of the year to be expecting money and not get it.

Hi guys!!
How old is LO? 2 weeks today
How's everything going? Could be better. I thought we were doing pretty good, but based on appointment DD2 is not gaining enough. Her latch is great and no other issues, just need to get her weight up. It was never an issue with my other 2 so we are in new territory.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share?
0-1mo: How's your postpartum recovery going? Great. I fortunately had a very easy delivery so I'm back to normal.
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? Haven't started pumping yet. Will be sometime this week. I need to get a stash going. Going back to work at 7 weeks pp.
GTKY: what’s something you wish you knew last week? What’s something you wish you knew this time last year? Eh. Tough one. I'm more of a live in the moment.

How old is LO? He will be two months on Wednesday!
How's everything going? Good. He's a good eater.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? 1. What bottles/nipples are best for EBF babies? Medela and Avent size 1 were both too fast for him. I have a doctor browns I can try and a munchkin too. 2. My boobs get very sore at night. I've started using the haakaa silicone hand pump to prevent engorgement and wear loose fitting shirts. I also try not to sleep on the side that gets more sore and/or engorged than the other. The same boob is prone to clogged ducts too. Any other suggestions?
1-3mo: Getting through growth spurts okay? It feels like he's going through another one today. On the boob or sleeping all day lol.
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I pump with the PISA 1-2 times a week and use the haakaa nightly (but don't always save it).
GTKY: what’s something you wish you knew last week? What’s something you wish you knew this time last year? Hmmm I'm not sure about last week. But for last year, that I'd be pregnant soon and to enjoy having just one kid lol.

How old is LO? 8 days
How's everything going? His latch still hurts but it’s not too bad any more. I’m probably going to go see the LC Wednesday to go over it all again and make sure everything looks right. I had some nasty sores so I’m guessing those are healing.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? I wish I could find a glue stick tube of nipple cream. I feel like I’m constantly washing stuff off my hands.
0-1mo: How's your postpartum recovery going? My stitches feel dry and sometimes uncomfortable but other than that I’m good.
1-3mo: Getting through growth spurts okay? He’s basically been latched for the last two hours. Boy is going to be big.
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I’m going to WFH feb-march so no pumping yet.
GTKY: what’s something you wish you knew last week? What’s something you wish you knew this time last year? Last year would be that we lost my Grandma this year. It’s been rough on me with the pregnancy/LO being born but her not here b

grumpycat - we were just talking about this at my breastfeeding group. I love the Comotomo, despite the expense and the LCs that run the group said the consensus is that the Comotomo is the best. One of them said there is also a good Playtex bottle that is well kept secret in terms of price and function, but I can't recall the name. Look for something round and boob shaped. They didn't recommend the Dr. Browns unless you need it for reflux because it's a small nipple. (Incidentally everyone was also saying how great the haakaa is so now I need to look into that.)

D will be 3 weeks tomorrow.
Aside from sleep, everything is SO much better than with L (DD1). Latch is good. Weight gain is incredible. Now if she'd just start to stretch out her feeds a bit more, especially at night, we'll be in business.
Recovery has been great. For the second time, I feel much better post c-section than I did in the weeks before delivery. Late pregnancy is such a bear on my body. I've been off the painkillers entirely for about a week now and feel pretty good. At this point I just have some gas pain, and that's more likely to be related to me cheating and eating gluten than it is to my delivery.
Haven't started pumping yet. Will probably start next week. Husband and I think we may conscript my mother or sister to watch D while L is at daycare and go see Episode 8. I'll be returning to work in April I believe, but doctors have encouraged us to introduce a bottle early and keep introducing it every day or other day so there aren't any issues with her accepting it once I return.
Last week I wish I knew how good The Crown was. I am LOVING it. Don't know what I wish I knew last year.

jenn83 in general LO should be back to birth weight (or weight at 24 hours old if you received IV fluids in labor) at 2 weeks old. Hopefully LO is there or nearly there! Did you do a weighted feed to see if LO is transferring effectively? That said, I find this from Dr Jay Gordon a really good read: drjaygordon.com/newborns/scales.html

grumpycat Dr Browns has a preemie nipple level, may be worth checking out. The only obnoxious thing about Dr Browns is it has more parts than some other bottles. No matter the bottle, paced feeding techniques are needed - this is about how you feed a bottle, not when, as all babies should be fed on demand. Re: recurrent clogs, you can try a lecithin supplement. “The usual recommended dosage for recurrent plugged ducts is 3600-4800 mg lecithin per day, or 1 capsule (1200 milligram) 3-4 times per day. After a week or two with no blockage, mom can reduce the dosage by one capsule. If there is no blockage within another 2 weeks she can reduce it again by one. Mom may need to continue taking 1-2 capsules per day if stopping the lecithin leads to additional plugged ducts.” kellymom.com/nutrition/vitamins/lecithin/I found I had to wear a soft but supportive (correctly sized) bra at night for the first six months to avoid clogs, personally. And sleep on my lower producing side or my back. But I wasn’t very prone to them to begin with. Oh, and babies certainly can get a wide latch on a narrow bottle. In some cases a deeper latch than on a firm round bottle. Very baby & bottle dependent. (I don’t like that the bottles are so upright in these pics, should be more parallel with the ground, but the pic is focusing on baby’s lips/latch)

rooskie glad latch is improving! I’m sorry for your loss. There’s something especially hard about a new baby not getting to meet a beloved family member. officedronette the 3 week growth spurt is notoriously oppositional to long stretches of sleep. Hopefully after you make it through, you’ll get a longer stretch.

lily - this kid seems to have been growth spurring since she came out! Is there a list of growth spurts somewhere? I've totally forgotten everything, except the 4 month sleep regression. 😱

officedronette in general, 7-10 day, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 mo, 6mo, 9mo. And of course growth spurts continue into the first year and beyond, we just don’t always talk about them because a toddler well established on solid food may or may not be as demanding during a growth spurt as a baby with only one (or primarily one) food source. Another common pattern is about every two weeks for the first few months, and then longer stretches between. Unfortunately babies don’t read calendars. You may want to check out the wonder weeks book/app too. I found it helpful my child’s first year. It talks about developmental leaps.

Thanks lily! I had the wonder weeks app but it says nothing for us for a month (because it goes off due date and D was 2.5 weeks early). I forgot about the growth spurts. It's amazing how much I've forgotten - all the hard parts. 😂
