We don't have any local family, so I get how challenging it can be to make childcare arrangements without that support. But we've gone out of our way to make it happen, either by planning trips that stop at family first or by swapping weekends with friends and watching others' kids. We were in marriage counseling for the better part of DS's first year, and that was one of the big takeaways. Getting time together has to be a priority for us.
Unfortunately most of our getaways have been due to weddings and stuff we had to get childcare for, but we've managed to have a couple weekends away just for fun. We went to the Caribbean a couple years ago, and last year we did a ski weekend in Vermont.

we lived away from family and friends for the last 5 years (one of which we had dd), which i know is nothing, but not having that support was so hard. we basically had stay at home dates every saturday night after dd went to bed. we would order takeout and binge on whatever we were watching without being on our respective devices. not the same as a night out or a weekend away, but we did what we could to have that alone time to reconnect.

mintyblueair enjoy! Jasper is only 2-3 hours from me and I love it there. We stopped there for our anniversary on our way to vancouver. H and I took a road trip down to San Francisco when we were expecting G. We travel a lot, but not alone (especially with most family 5 hours away). So who knows if we can get away. Maybe we’ll try.

Thanks! I was there once for Christmas years ago and it was magical. It's a 7 hour drive for us but I think it'll be worth it, and my husband has never been.

Ha. Baby moon. Yeah, no. Not for any of them. We had our first kid free vacation in 5 1/2 years in July, that’s how we ended up with this baby before that we had a vacation a year prior. I want more vacations in my life. We are tentatively planning one for when this peanut it just over a year/done nursing. My bff is willing to keep all 4 so we are running with that.
