Anyone have a vacation before baby planned? Or have one in the works? Share your destinations and itineraries!
This time of year I ALWAYS get the travel bug and start spending entire workdays poking around Kayak or Hopper for travel ideas and deals, and despite the obvious challenges to traveling this winter, I'm still itchy to plan something....

No travel plans for pre-baby, but we're tentitavely planning a family road trip to Nashville for my 30th in June. It's a 8 hour trip without stops, with three kids. Should be fun.

We are lucky to get a babysitter for dinner. We didn't do a babymoon before our first either. We waited a long time to have kids so we had already done travel and lived by the shore for awhile. tinyjoys, Good luck with that.

*shrug* so far, we're 2/2 with awesome travelers and easily adaptable kids. We did a multiple city road trip when #2 was about 4 months and I took a solo 4 hour trip with both kids when she was 2.5 months.

Part of me wants to visit a friend across the country when the kid is a couple months old, so I might do that if she's up for it (our kids are due within a week of each other). Other than that, we're not planning to go anywhere, but I might try to convince him to get a weekend away with me for his birthday or something. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

SO hasn't even told me what dates to book off to visit his family for Christmas. That won't be until January at this point. My birthday is at the beginning of February though and I'd really like to go away somewhere.

We’re taking the kids so it doesn’t quite count but we’re doing an all inclusive in Cuba. Winters are hard on me so I’m very much looking forward to getting some sun. I’m going to be doing as little as possible, usually I’m a sight seer. We’ve wanted to go for years but have always put it off. We can’t quite afford it even after MIL chipped in for us but I’m expecting a bad time PP again so said screw it and booked.

So, DH and I haven't had a vacation on our own since 2004. We were married in 2003. We went right into IVF debt (ok, not debt, but we were strapped for cash for extras) and finally had our first in 2008. So needless to say WE DESPERATELY need a vacation, alone.
I earned a trip through my direct sales business, and we will be going to Costa Rica in January for 5 days. Completely paid for. If we didn't have that though, I think we would have at least gone to Key West for a long weekend. We have our 15th Anniversary in June.. so we need something.

We did a babymoon (long weekend) before number one was born, and I absolutely love those memories. I went when just about 30w pregnant.
We went to Acadia National Park in Maine, and everything felt dreamy. A little hiking, lots of eating out, sleeping, and merriment.
I would love to try to get a night away before number three. A and I barely have date nights, let alone trips. But I think we can beg a family member to stay overnight one night with our kids. No one has before.

yianna, babybean, those trips sound AHMAZING. I am so jealous!!! What is the status of Zika in Cuba and Costa Rica? The Caribbean would be a perfect inexpensive trip for us but I had completely written it off because of CDC reports while I was working with my RE. ovenrack, I love Acadia. Such a pretty area. But girl definitely get on that overnight babysitter! New world of possibilities ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

calendula sooo I accidentally booked still thinking Cuba was zika free, it no longer is. However it’s a level 2 not 3, so I’m supposed to just take extra precautions and my care providers told me not to cancel. That’s part of why I’m staying on the beach and by the water, less risk of bites. Still going is confession worthy I suppose. I was really upset about it until my midwife talked me down so I’m trying not to stress about it.

calendula the resort is located on the pacific side which has lower numbers of potential zika, plus January is the dry season, AND the resort fogs nightly. I won't be doing the rainforest excursion because I feel that's a bit too risky and I'll have deet, etc with me.

babybean, not confession worthy at all, promise. Especially if your care team is supportive of your plans! I'm so excited for you both! And yianna congrats on earning the trip--what a treat.

We spent a week in Honolulu a couple weeks ago. It was our first vacation since DS was born and it was amazing.
We're thinking of going to Jasper, AB in February for three nights to do some snowshoeing/hiking/ cuddling by the fireplace. It's so beautiful there.

tinyjoys, I hope you enjoy Nashville! They always seem to have a lot of stuff to do there. We planned a family trip to Disney World in Jan and DD is pretty excited about it. DH and I just had a big vacation to Europe in May for our 10th anniversary. I will say it was embarrassing the number of people that asked if the baby is a souvenir from our trip.

all of your trips sound amazing. getting away during the winter is always a relief. i don't even care where to. h had a conference in portugal when i was around 16 weeks. it was a short 4 day trip, but kid-free so i guess that counts. we are just trying to fit in monthly date nights when we can. our anniversary is in a couple of weeks and my mom is taking dd overnight while we see a show and go out to dinner. she said it would just be easier to take her for the night🤷♀️ok twist my arm!

Leaf 🌱 Was it cold when you went? I've only been there during the summer and it was super hot. Not at all. It was warm enough to go to the pool once or twice and I worse shirts and a tank/short sleeves the whole time. We had sweatshirts for the evening and that was fine. That being said, Florida can get freak cold snaps. A friend was there a week or two before me and the temps were in the 30s and 40s for half her trip. Definitely watch the weather super closely and bring layers. Remember you can register for your fast passes early if you already have your tickets! The app was a LIFESAVER.

DH has been leaning on me hard to book a weekend to visit friends in Florida. I've been on the fence. We usually go in March/April and its perfect beach weather, but I didn't get the impression it would be that warm in January. Any FL people here want to weigh in? They live on the Gulf side near Ft Myers. January is pretty much as close to my due date as I would feel comfortable going.

Well, we left for Comic-Con the day after I found out I was pregnant, does that count? We did get three nights away, without DS, but I spent the whole time spotting and terrified of a m/c.
I don't think we'll be able to do an overnight, kid-free getaway before this baby arrives, since we have to coordinate it with one of our families' flights to visit. But it would be fun to do a day or weekend trip with DS, maybe just up or down the coast.

DH and I haven't even had a date since DD was born 3+ years ago, let alone a getaway somewhere. Alone time for us consists of when the kids fall asleep in the car at the same time while we're driving somewhere and we get to have an uninterrupted conversation during that time. ☺ A babymoon would be amazing, but not happening. I'm so envious of those of you who get extra time with your DH's.

We did a two week trip in the southwest end of the summer that I called our babymoon. I was still definitely having morning sickness and the worst of needing to eat every half hour, but it was fun.
We just won a couple nights in a cabin and also a several day cruise, but I doubt we'll be doing either before the baby comes.

We were at dinner with friends one night talking about how we haven't had a vacation by ourselves since our honeymoon (in 2004) and the couple was like "Um, we were there". We realized DH and I have never had a vacation by ourselves, including our honeymoon. We've been on a ton of vacations but never w/o family or friends. Now with 3 kids we kind of missed the boat for awhile. Costa Rica sounds awesome, can't wait to hear about it.
