We’re hanging out, having a lazy Saturday and listening to music. Awake My Soul by Mumford and Sons came on and I started thinking about the time H and I saw them live. It was a truly fantastic show. It wasn’t just them, they headlined, but other bands played throughout the day, including the Eels, which I love! We saw them during their Gentlemen of the Road tour in 2013. So that is the inspiration for this thread. What are some of your favorite concerts? If you haven’t been to a show, who would you like to see live?

I’ve seen Radiohead a couple of times and they have been fantastic. The National, Wilco and the Jayhawks are always good shows too. It’s more low key music though. I always try to see any of them if they are playing in NYC.
I saw the Roots (before they were Jimmy Fallon’s house band) and they were AMAZING. I love Questlove.
Also, I went to a festival type show— I don’t remember which bands I was there to see, but I ended up seeing Wyclef Jean and he put on one of the best performances I’ve ever seen.

Its extremely hard to pick my favorite because each concert has its own great memories. I have seen Justin Timberlake twice, once just himself for the 20/20 Experience Tour and then when he did the Legends of the Summer Tour with Jay-Z , both were phenomenal. He is such a great performer. I've seen Elton John, which was fun but it was an outdoor venue and there were (literally) tornados happening in a neighboring town. It was severely inclement weather with just down pours for hours so despite the music, it was miserable. When people ask me what my favorite concert is, I usually answer John Mayer. I guess I just didn't expect him to be SO good live. His voice makes me melt. I have seen Ben Folds and Guster 3 times.. it is always a fun experience and it doesn't matter how many times you hear the songs, they don't get old. And the last concert I'll comment on was seeing The Used. That was a bucket list show that my H (boyfriend at the time) and I snuck off to. If my parents ever knew that I was going to a rock concert they would have absolutely not let me go so H and I came up with some excuse and went. It was absolutely amazeballs and I'm happy to say I got to see them
Woof... Didn't expect to write so much haha

I’m not sure what my favorite concert was... that Mumford and Sons show was definitely in my top 10, maybe even top 5, probably top 5. H and I went to the Doheny Days festival in September of 2011 it was at Doheny State Beach. It was a 2 day show and Ben Harper headlined the first night, Weezer the 2nd. It was GA and H and I were front row for everyone we were excited to see except Donavon Frankenreiter and Ziggy Marley. They were both on the side stage and we didn’t want to give up our spot at the main stage. We had friends with us the first day, so we did get to watch Donavon. Ben Harper stopped to talk directly to me during his show, which was pretty fantastic, I ❤️ him. That festival, if not my favorite, would definitely fall in the top 3.

This is a tough one! Lots come to mind...Brandi Carlile at 9:30 Club, Juanes at DAR Constitution Hall and Patriot Center, DMB during the Caravan music festival. Red Hot Chili Peppers when they closed out the HFStival one year. Shakira did an amazing tour that I saw at a big venue too. Julieta Venegas at State Theatre. The Cure (I'm not even a huge fan, but they were awesome!). Some of the most fun I've had were the ones that were mostly about dancing....anyone familiar with the go-go scene around DC? When I was in college, we'd go see Junkyard Band and Rare Essence, that was great.

My fav concert was the Black Crowes. I had gotten tix for DH's birthday (when we were dating)- I didn't know many of their songs but walked away a huge fan by the end of the night. It was also a super chill crowd- people were really nice about if you needed to leave to get a beer or whatever. One lady even pulled me next to the barrier as she was leaving.

i've been thinking about this for a bit now. i've seen a ton of groups/artists. One of the best festivals i attended was Orlando Calling back in 2011. We went both days and it was a blast.
Saturday, November 12, 2011 Civil Twilight Dr. Dog Drive-By Truckers Gavin DeGraw Gogol Bordello Iron & Wine Kid Cudi Less Than Jake Lucero O.A.R. Pete Yorn Pixies States The Avett Brothers The Ettes The Felice Brothers The Flatlanders The Killers The Raconteurs The Roots
Add Setlist Sunday, November 13, 2011 Blake Shelton Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band Brandi Carlile Buddy Guy Chris Isaak Dwight Yoakam Kid Rock Los Lonely Boys The Doobie Brothers Warren Haynes Band
I get the opportunity to see a bunch of great groups that visit theme parks all the time, gavin degraw (3 times at universal), kelly clarkson, oliva newton john, b-52's, styx, steve miller band...man i can't even remember them all. But they are always great.

My favorite concert was Lollapalooza in 2003:
Jane's Addiction Audioslave Incubus Queens of the Stone Age Rooney The Distillers
Second favorite would be the Shins. They're awesome live.

The Roots are also another favorite now that I'm thinking of it. They put on a great show.

Betweenthelines, I would've loved to see The Shins!! My fave was the Garth Brooks concert. It was so so much fun and I knew every song. I've really only been to country concerts (I saw Taylor Swift open for Rascal Flatts and that was really cool). I would love to see Mumford and Sons or Beyonce/Jay-Z

AAAHHHHH! This thread had inspired me to look up Brandi Carlile's tour schedule since I mentioned her and I saw that she is coming to DC in May but I figured I wouldn't be ready to go to a concert in DC by then after having baby #2 in Feb. So. I heard on the radio that she is playing a free show on Monday night IN MY SMALL TOWN. How can this be?! I want to go so badly and I'm going to try. I almost wish you had to buy tickets so that I could be guaranteed to get in, I'm worried it is going to be crazy trying to get a spot. We'll see.

Follow up question...am I crazy for thinking about taking E with me/us? I would go by myself no problem but since it is in our town at 8pm, I feel like it could be fun for all of us to go. We'd use ear protection for him of course. It is a small venue and I'm not worried about people getting wasted and going wild or anything, we would prob even use the Ergo or something.
Have any of you guys taken your LOs to concerts yet?

easternshoregirl, do it. nothing wrong with it at all. We took C to Oliva Newton John at Universal - show started around 8pm and he was a baby. We had him in his stroller, all bundled up and stood in a good spot at the back of the crowd. We've taken A to several as well. Go have fun, let him dance!

easternshoregirl, I've done it. Once when Little was 6 months, I put him in the Ergo and threw on some headphones. He slept most of it. It was a St. Patty's day festival so probably not the best idea but people were really good about giving me space. We also did it with both the kids over the summer though they refused to wear ear protection. Every time we've done it, they have been outside, medium sized concerts. In other words, do it.

DH doesn't think E would like it....so we decided that I will just go by myself. DH is being super nice about it though and he's going to leave work early so I can go get in line early if I need to!!!
