1. I've been insanely productive the last couple of days.
2. I woke early this morning and had all my morning chores done by the time I normally get up.
3. So I did homework. I barely recognize myself.
4. I'm annoyed with said homework because I had a ton of lectures to watch (hours' worth) and I carefully took notes and listened to a couple more than once to prepare for the quiz at the end.
5. ...and there was no quiz. Just a self-assessment of learning (like, "do you know more about X now than you did before you started the lesson? Agree/disagree." Rage at the time and effort I've wasted.
6. I only have two blankets (and one that just needs finishing up) left to make for Christmas presents. I'm almost finished with one and it's taken me about a week, so I should have the next two done before December.
7. I feel like such an adult getting done so early!
8. I have an antique kitchen table that I absolutely love. I re-waxed it yesterday and today I'll polish it. It already looks so pretty!
9. I do this quarterly and I love how it makes my house smell like beeswax and orange oil for a while afterward. I should make a candle out of that stuff.
10. The table came from my dad's boss. He gave it to me because he said I'd appreciate the history of it better than his own daughters. It's bittersweet when I think about it.

1. hawkward - MH and I inherited my grandparents' first dining room table. It's beautiful and at least 80 years old. I should wax it. You are my inspiration 2. And furthermore, my dad just gave me two handmade blankets that my grandmother made or were made for her. I love them, and they're so comfy! 3. I really want to learn to knit/crotchet. But I don't even know the difference. I have a lot to learn LOL 4. I'm considering studying for an additional certification; however, the idea of MORE studying and MORE homework is exhausting. 5. The weather is messing with my head. We're experiencing a random warm day v. the really cool, lovely fall weather we've had recently. My head is killing me. 6. The holidays thread has me in my feels about our Thanksgiving situation. Long story short, I'm pretty sure my sister won't be at Thanksgiving and my aunt and cousin aren't coming either, all because of my father's ridiculous narcissistic attitude toward them (for various reasons). It's a mess. 7. I hate being the reliable sibling/family member sometimes... it seems easier to just not care. 8. But 'not caring' isn't me. Soooo we'll probably make three stops in two days to see everyone. At least none of them are out of the way. 9. I'm already thinking about Christmas. I generally cook/bake/craft my gifts, so I need to get started on planning! 10. I also need to buy some more decorations. A few years ago, someone stole all my Christmas decorations and ornaments (including my childhood ones) from a storage unit in our apartment building. It's taken me 6 years to rebuild my collection - family and friends have taken pity and contributed ornaments to the cause each year LOL BUT MH let's me go NUTS every year and buy whatever I want, within reason This year I'm on the hunt for frosted branches with berries, a few new wreaths, and some fun ornaments. Yay!

oldbaylover1024, I love wax finishes, especially on antiques! "Not Me" got glitter glue on the table, and all I had to do was sand down that spot and rewax. It took just a few minutes to save the finish. Plus it helps the wood last longer. Knitting is so much easier than it looks! I have relatives who help me, but I mostly learned from youtube videos. It's nice and relaxing at the end of the day, and it helps me focus when I'm doing homework because I'm a fidgeter. I'm sorry your family is making the holidays so stressful.

Thanks, hawkward. My dad is a lot to handle lately. It's exhausting. BUT I want turkey and pie and both those things will be at my parents' house, so guess I'm going there! LOL

1. It's been a week! Teaching preschool the week of holidays is something.
2. I'm so exhausted, but at the end of the day I really love what I do.
3. I'm in the process of making Christmas presents. I'm currently melting old broken crayons into gifts for my students holiday gifts.
4. I really need to get crocheting! I have a ton of things I'd like to make.
5. I'm working on finishing up my masters which will add certification to my license.
6. I'm pretty proud of my accomplishments in the program so far.
7. It's online but with some in class and in classroom observations (of my teaching).
8. The professor came last week and I got my report today. It was nice to see that they enjoyed my lesson.
9. Using a preschool for this program has its challenges (its STEM certification), but I've made it work thus far.
10. Only have to make it to May. Then I'm finished!

oldbaylover1024 I think the story they fed us about the Pilgrims is hogwash, the real reason Thanksgiving involves pie and other tasties is to lure family members back together. Also, I'm glad your ornament collection is coming back into its own, a happy ending to a very sad crime. skategirl128 Good luck this year! It's so intense to teach and be in school, but it sounds like you are handling it like a boss. hawkward Our dining table was my grammie's for about 50 years, but it was the one she protected fiercely and used like once a year, with a protective cover. I don't want to be precious about it, but it's sad to see the very old finish wearing away (and, in the summer, melting into our clothes at times). I am going to look into beeswax now though, as the thought of refinishing with polyurethane is scaring me off (after refinishing the whole house of hardwood floors a few years ago).

hawkward Our dining table was my grammie's for about 50 years, but it was the one she protected fiercely and used like once a year, with a protective cover. Well, we're about to find out exactly what a nerd I am about woodworking/wood furniture... I love beeswax for old furniture! For this table, we used stripper and then sanded it down to bare wood, and then I oiled it really well and let it sit for a few days before re-oiling and then waxing over it. I use a commercial orange oil/beeswax finish on it about once a season on the surfaces we use, like the chairs and the table top (or if I need to spot refinish). I use wood conditioner once a week or so since I'm always wiping it down, and then once a year, I re-oil and use my own homemade harder wax on the entire table and chairs to keep a good hard finish on it. I just made it sound like a bunch of work, but it's really not. Except for the once a year re-waxing, it only takes me a few minutes a week, and maybe an hour a season. It looks brand new. If the style wasn't antique, you'd never guess how old the table actually is (our best estimate is just under 100 years old). When we got it, the finish was peeling off and spots of wood were so dry they were starting to crack. The wax also really highlights the grain and color of the wood. When we got it, it was just generic walnut colored finish. Here's what it looks like now:
