babybean lol! I see the resemblance now. nuggetrn fur baby avatar is wearing a nurses cap. This is pregnancy #5, baby #3 for me. babybean it's funny that you say that because every time I see someone with a small brown dog I am like hey our avatars match! My little brown dog is in fact wearing a nurse's cap. Lol. And his name is Nugget, hence the NuggetRN. This will hopefully be my first take home baby with 4 previous losses. Im sorry if the “ftm” comment came off as insensitive at all, not my intention. <3

I also feel, personally, that it's how I strive to make the topic less taboo. For me, it's a casual topic as well as a personal and private one. If I only talk about it in safe spaces and hushed tones, then I don't feel like I'm working toward a culture that makes miscarriage more socially acceptable. It doesn't hurt me to talk about my kids and I know it does for many of my friends. So, since I can talk about it when others can't, I do. I'm not shy of loss. It hurts, it sucks, it's a fact of life. And that fact is something that intrinsically is part of my life, specifically. I don't hold anyone else to the standard I set for myself, I know there are fights I can't stomach to fight myself, too. This is one I can, so I will. I love this and I have very much taken this stance as well. I have been totally open about my previous losses and how I am feeling with this current pregnancy to people at my job. Which is crazy to me because I have been there for roughly 3 months and they have only known about my pregnancy for 6 weeks. Maybe that makes it a little easier? I don't want it to be a taboo topic. I have had 3 co-workers tell me about their own experiences with loss and difficult pregnancies. It has also been refreshing and therapeutic for me to be able to say these things out loud.

I'm getting really stressed about not feeling the baby move yet. I know it's later with an anterior placenta but I am almost 20weeks! Come on! I can't wait until the anatomy scan on Monday to hopefully have my fears relieved Both my first kids had anterior placentas and didn't feel anything until after 20ws. With my first we were at the A/S and she was kicking like crazy and we were watching her and the tech was like "you don't feel that?", nope not at all. I hope you do soon. katietopaz, I know it's stressful, and sucks you have to wait a month but I was told A/S are best closer to 20weeks because of this exact issue. Glad everything was looking good at the scan even though they couldn't get it all. Rama, Good for you for speaking up when others can't. That is amazing.

So, I'm seeing the MFM for the first time tomorrow, just after my A/S. What questions would you ask? I'm already planning to ask about a breastpump, a hospital tour, birthing classes, possibility of bedrest, what to look out for re:preeclampsia, and how late they'll let me go. Anything else I should ask about?

Rama do you already have a clear explanation of how the MFM and OB will coordinate your care? And who you should call for what? If not I’d bring it up

If not I’d bring it up I'm under the impression that all my scans will be done with the MFM and my appointments will be staggered between the two, but it was something I planned on confirming when I get there. Good idea to ask who to call for what, though! Thanks.

Rama, I think most of those questions are better posed for your OB, whom should still be your primary care giver. For me, my OB wrote the prescription for my breast pump, gave me the information on hospital tours & birthing classes, and kept an eye on blood pressure, pee tests and other pre-e symptoms. The MFM (in my experiences) were just more thorough ultrasounds and occasionally more in depth testing. My OB will go over the MFM's findings and have final say in my care as far as delivery dates (I have c-sections) & bedrest if needed.

My OB routinely has conferred with MFM since my first appointment, so I assumed she'd be deferring to them on this as well. I'll probably still ask, but hang on to the questions to ask my OB when I see her in a couple weeks. Thanks!

In response to your other post on this, I don't think you sound evil at all. There's nothing wrong with answering that kind of question honestly. If people don't really want to know, they shouldn't ask. 😉 I'm also very bold and open about the babies we lost and do my best to raise awareness and break the silence on a subject matter that's been hush-hush for so long. I've met so many couples, but specifically women, along the way who have grieved silently, isolated and alone. That breaks my heart. It's okay of someone chooses to grieve that way (or just finds it hard to talk openly), but for those who need the extra support I try to speak up for them. Also, for me, talking about my babies helps me grieve and validate how loved they are and very much apart of our family they are too. I applaud you for being so open in real life, especially when others can't or aren't comfortable doing so.❤ Like you said, it's easy to talk about it in our safe place, but it's important to break that stigma in regular, everyday life too. ETA: Words are hard Also, I hope all goes well tomorrow at your A/S and with the MFM!

Amazon is awesome. I ordered one Melissa & Doug semi-truck as a birthday gift for a little boy on my other BMB. Today I received my box and there were six trucks in there instead! I was only charged for one, so after contacting customer service they told me to keep the remaining five for free as a gift from them. Yay for great customer service and a score on five additional birthday and Christmas gifts I don't have to buy. 😁

They also did weekly NSTs at the end of my last pregnancy which will be done again this time. I would just ask what they will be handling and what your OB will be handling Rama. It got to be a bit much at the end with weekly appts at both places but it's worth it. And I enjoyed the extra time away from work lol.

I'm a little annoyed tonight. We had to get our electric box replaced in August since some of the breakers were starting to not work. It was original to the house so they needed to update and replace the whole thing. They did tell us that it will need to be inspected by the city inspector, but we hadn't heard anything else about that. Got a call last week saying that the inspector would come out today, so I stayed home all day waiting for the inspector to show up. I'm pretty annoyed that the inspector never showed or called to let me know that he wasn't coming.

I know things can come up unexpectedly, but I will never understand not trying to call and give a heads up to the person waiting on you. I do not deal well with people wasting my time, so I don’t blame you at all for being annoyed.

AmazonFresh is stopping delivery service to our area. I'm seriously so upset.
The worst part is I was planning on ordering fresh pasta from there for Christmas Eve, instead of making it myself because I'm still lazy AF this pregnancy, and now I won't be able to. UGH.

Apparently they stopped in a lot of areas. Which is funny, as I had just started looking into grocery delivery and my boss recommended Amazon Fresh yesterday. I'm sorry! Is there somewhere else to get fresh pasta from?

I'm probably going to make my H drive into the city that week and get it and then pick me up from work I could theoretically trek down there from my work on public transit but...it's not an easily accessible area of the city and again...Lazy AF.

I’m nervous about the passport situation. I have to follow up on Wednesday to see if anything is wrong with either application. I’m nervous about the photos now though. DS’s mouth is sliiightly open and my face is slightly turned. I don’t know why they have to be so nit picky. Luckily I can apply for express service by the 17th, but that’ll mean a 4 hour round trip to pick them up and extra costs. I’m hoping they accept and process them early.

I'm probably crazy and clearly work is not busy, but this morning I could feel baby moving. So I poked my stomach in one place and was chatting to him. He kicked me back in that spot. So I did it again, and then he did it again. This happened like 5 times in a row. I'm sure its coincidence but it was so damn cute. Like a little game we were playing.

Follow up a/s went well and tech said everything looked good. G sat on top of my chest the whole time and pointed at “his baby” katietopaz - wanted to let you know especially - it was amazing how much more we could see the heart, etc today even after 2 weeks (I’m 22w 3d). Pdq:

Rama, how did your MFM appointment go today? Good! She actually knew the answers to all the questions I asked, so score. Fail on my end, though, I forgot to ask about the breast pump. So I'll just bring it up with the OB in a couple weeks. A/S went well! Babe is super uncooperative, like, legit flips constantly and half somersaults just to get away from the wand. We're going to have our hands full. 😂😂 Going back on Dec 1 for a follow up because that's the only availability they had. Thanks, holidays.
