Thought I would bring this thread back. I have nothing healthy to report, though. :/

Once again, my caffeine is out of control. I think I'm going to give myself time limits versus amounts. So I can drink coke/coffee from 8am-1pm (so I can get through lunch) and then with dinner. But other than that, water. It's a start..

peachsmama, caffeine has always been an issue for me. While pregnant I was able to ditch it completely with no issues, but now I've just stopped during the week and only drink it on weekends. But, my weekend sucked and I feel like crap, so I'm having a coke with lunch. Also doesn't help when you step on a scale and yh is standing there and goes, "WOAH!"....uh, eff off dude, you're way over your starting weight(starting being when we first met) too!

Well thats just shitty. I don't think I can go a full day without it without dealing with the withdrawal migraines. And my migraines have been acting up as is. I can't deal with that right now. Last time I was vomiting and bed ridden when I gave it up cold turkey. But I think this is a change I can make work. And I'm going to set reminders on my phone so I stick with it.

peachsmama I think I mentioned this before but I used to have a massive Coke (a-cola) addiction in my 20s and I, too would get terrible withdrawal headaches if I didn't have it. Each step lasted about 1 week First- I gave up Coke in between meals, so I could have it breakfast, lunch & dinner Second - I gave up my breakfast Coke Third - I could only have one at lunch or dinner but not both Fourth - every other day I had 1 Then finally I gave it up completely. I gave it up completely for about 3 or 4 years then started drinking it again but consciously never let myself get back to that level again. At my height I was probably having 75- 100 ounces per day

Starting tomorrow.. LOL.

peachsmama just be careful with coke. My sister used to drink quite a bit and ended up with interstitial cystitis.

Thanks for starting this.
Basically, I'm a wreck since vacation early this month. What's worse is that I had been doing really well before that so I feel like absolute crap and my gallbladder is protesting.
I'm starting a sort of elimination diet/cleanse thing on Wednesday. Basically fruits, vegetables and legumes for three weeks. Then I add stuff back in. And no caffeine! Yikes.
I do know my fibro symptoms are much better controlled when I eat mostly/all PBWF so hopefully I'm getting back on the right track.
I'm probably going to be a raging bitch for awhile though.

Yeah cagoldi it was terrible. And regular Coke, not Diet Coke. I'm disgusted when I look back at it. peachsmama you can do this. Definitely do the slow ween thing. Think of it like breastfeeding- you can't go from all day to none overnight! But seriously, you'll feel so much better

Another issue is I can't tell A I'm doing it. Because then he just harps every time I slip and then I drink more in protest. #mature

peachsmama, you'll need to eliminate it from your house to make it easier for you. Tell him it's a family change.

You can do it, peach. I think a slow paring back is definitely the way to go.
Can you try substituting something healthy when you get a craving? Like get a craving, take a 5 minute walk?

I've been really good about being active, for about 8 months now, but I struggle with diet. H does his best to support me but he has so many dietary restrictions that we end up eating a lot of things that wouldn't be my first choice (H does the cooking because of our schedules). It's not feasible for us to have two separate meal plans. Blerg.

Stick to a schedule like I did. Knowing that I couldn't have one 'now' but if I made it to dinner or whatever, i could have one really helped.

Peach, do you like lacroix or other sparkling natural water? That's how my sister kicked her diet coke addiction.

Peach, do you like lacroix or other sparkling natural water? That's how my sister kicked her diet coke addiction. This is what I did when I was pregnant. Since I couldn't drink them bc of gestational diabetes. Turned out I was just craving the carbonation. It might not be that easy for you but it will help to still get the carbonation fix. I'm trying to stick with a regular exercise and healthier eating program. I haven't defined yet what "healthier" means, but I know it doesn't include dessert/sugar every night so that is one thing I'm cutting out, at least for a while. And trying to do more paleo, less carbs and smaller portions.
I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes this morning.

Soda is my biggest downfall, but also I eat lunch out almost every day. It's usually a burger and fries, or a crispy chicken sandwich, sometimes pasta. Usually nothing healthy. If I would just start packing a lunch it would help me immensely. I'm starting to feel like I did last fall/winter with my extreme acid reflux issues. I'm not puking every day like I was then, but I'm afraid if I don't make some changes soon that it may start again based on the way I've been feeling. I really don't want to end up like that again. So change has to happen. I really like jewels plan for soda reduction. I'm going to try that. I will never cut it completely. I HAVE to have my morning Pepsi. But if I can cut back to just 1 in the morning that will be a huge improvement!
