There is a weekly check-in on the Breastfeeding board for extended breastfeeding. Come join us! Posted Thursday mornings.
How is it going?
Any challenges? Anything getting easier? Any changes?
Any questions for the other mamas?
How often do you nurse?
How is nighttime going? Do you still nurse overnight?
What is your favorite thing about nursing?
What would you like people to know about breastfeeding that aren't that familiar or may have certain opinions?

I just joined Extended breastfeeding support on fb and really like it! It's the group with 12K members
How is it going? Really well!
Any challenges? Anything getting easier? Any changes? We really haven't changed much in frequency/ habits for several months (not counting some teething, etc).
Any questions for the other mamas? not at the moment
How often do you nurse? 4-6 times a day and overnight
How is nighttime going? Do you still nurse overnight? We still nurse overnight. She probably nurses 1-2 a night but honestly i'm not even sure. I can't remember from one night to the next. She usually nurses around 4/5/6 am... somewhere in there and goes back to sleep. I'm great with that because she goes back to sleep. She has been waking up literally one hour after we put her down every night. That is frustrating but we are going to work on it starting this weekend. We did Jay Gordon before and may try something similar but it's a little harder because it's so early in the night and we aren't in bed yet. DH usually goes and gets her and if can't get her back down, I go to bed with her.
What is your favorite thing about nursing? i never would have guessed it in a million years before we started, but I am the mom that absolutely loves it. I had a take it or leave it attitude while pregnant but it's really one of my favorite things to hold her and nurse her.
What would you like people to know about breastfeeding that aren't that familiar or may have certain opinions? Just that it's a normal, natural and healthy thing. The US seems to be closed minded towards it. I've gotten some comments and i'm sure we all have. Just little things. My aunt said, "you are still doing THAT." Like it was a horrible burden for me. She doesn't have kids but that's not really central to this. I myself did not see much if any breastfeeding and/or extended breastfeeding growing up and will admit that before having DD i thought people that did extended breastfeeding were kind of weird. I feel totally bad saying that now but i just had no exposure to it. I'd like for it to be more normal and I think maybe that's happening but maybe I'm just exposed to it a lot more now. I don't know.
ETA: I only really saw one example of extended breastfeeding, my best friends SIL, and she actually is kind of a strange bird so I'm not sure if I really thought extended bFing was weird or just her. Regardless, I wish I had more exposure to it and I hope I'm helping to give people more exposure. I would like to talk about it more but it's not something that comes up a lot!!!!

You are a rock star @kelltothekell! I was at a friend's house for a dinner party last month and one of the moms there nursed her almost two year old at the table. It threw me off because I have never seen that before but after a second I realized it was normal and of course natural.

Yup still going strong. All is essentially unchanged. I nurse in demand probably 2-4 per day and 1-3 times per night. I am both ready to be done and ok. Continuing on so I guess when one of these feelings wins out I will change. Have been lucky not to get a lot of negative comments but definitely surprise that I am still nursing. I certainly have nursed any and everywhere so I feel like I have done my duty in exposing people to the world of boobs for food. I really wish people knew that whatever works for them and their family is what is best. Don't try to follow someone else's plan. Just do you.

I’m in the same boat as above - 2 to 4 times per day, and probably twice at night. Sometimes finding it sweet and happy we still nurse, and other times completely over it and annoyed at her insistence.
I’m both totally over it and heartbroken at the thought of it ending.

As you all know I’ve been done for about a month. We almost slid back when she was so sick with croup. I really wanted to nurse her to help comfort her when she was so miserable. That was so hard. I came so close to trying. Especially since I’m not completely dried up yet. How long does that take!?

Still going strong here. 2-3 times during the day and 2-3 times overnight. I will happily give up the overnight ones if it means she sleeps all night. But I’m not ready to give it it. H said since I gave DD1 the option to nurse till 2.5 I have to give DD2 the same. We will see. I am not ready to give it up yet though. I like that time for us.

We still nurse just twice a day, morning and night. Sometimes one extra time in the afternoon on the weekends if he's having a tough day. I'm going out of town for a week next week, and then again in two weeks, so we'll see if he's still interested after that. Makes me sad but I'm also starting to feel ready to be done.
