It's October and I'm feeling late to the game. We have no idea what we're doing this year, but we usually try to do a family theme with DH, DS, me, and occasionally our dog. Of course, now my brain is going on possibly finding a fun and/or tongue-in-cheek way to incorporate the bump. I love the idea of getting one of those mat shirts where the bump is the Death Star. Bonus for a "That's no moon" on the shirt. But we did Star Wars two years ago so I don't think DH will go for it.
What are you guys doing for costumes? Do you do a family theme, or even dress up at all?

We have done family themes before- last year DD was Dorothy, our dog was a lion, I was the witch, and H was the scarecrow. This year DD is being Boo from Monsters Inc, my bump will be Mike Wazowski, and H will be Sully:)

We’re doing a “traditional” Halloween theme: DH will be Dracula, did is a witch, and I’m going to be a skeleton - completely with the semi-tacky fetus skeleton on the stomach LOL. My parents and sister will be participating too so that’ll be fun. We usually do a little party on their cul de sac and roast marshmallows and I make chili.

We are doing a family theme as long as the kids will cooperate Last year we had two costumes, for the first I was a chocolate bar, my H was a graham cracker and my daughter was a s'more. For the second we were a family of sugar skull skeletons. This year my H is being a bowler, my daughter is being a bowling pin and I'm being the bowling alley with my belly as the bowling ball. I'm already planning on doing the Wizard of Oz next year with me as the good witch, my older daughter as Dorothy and the baby as Toto and my H can be the tin man or scarecrow. I love Halloween.

For DD's first two Halloweens we did family costumes. They are so much fun. But being pregnant and doing a DIY home renovation I just decided to let her pick out whatever. She's going to be Chase from Paw Patrol.

you guys are all so much more creative than i will ever be! i have never put much thought into halloween, but i can't wait to see it through dd's eyes this year. i think we are going to try and find some baby scrubs and cap and throw those on her along with a pager or something. she's nearly 2 and starting to understand stuff, so we'll see how it goes. i would like to do something with myself but haven't felt inspired yet.

This year my kids are going to be dressed as their favorite treats. My 18 year old even decided to join in. He will be an Oreo cookie, DD1 will be a pink sprinkled donut, and DD2 a chocolate chip cookie. DH and I won't be dressing up.

H & I don't dress up. The big kid (6) is going to be a ninja turtle, Leonardo, I think, and the 2 year old is going to be a llama. He lobbied hard for her to be April O'Neil, though, and I almost let him win, but I was afraid it wouldn't look like she'd even dressed up.

We are boring Halloween people. My son has refused to go trick-or-treater the last couple of years. We dressed him up as a train engineer when he was 1. This year (he is 3), I have convinced him to at least try trick or treating. He says that he wants to go as an only child. So, I am thinking I will get one of those skeleton pregnancy shirts and make a shirt for DS that says only child. It is kind of funny to me.

You just reminded me that BIL (who is doing his residency) gifted DS some scrubs, and I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how we can possibly use them. I was thinking PJs, but Halloween costume kills 2 birds since I haven't bothered to think of a costume yet

I just found out that for the first time since H was born, my husband doesn't have a gig on Halloween! So now I can plan something.
Last year was our first year in our new house, and we only got a dozen trick or treaters. So this year we may all go out as one big family!
I'm pretty excited to plan! H (a boy, almost 4) had decided he wants to be a butterfly with wings and a tutu. My feminist, gender-nonconforming self is so pleased.

We don’t have my stepson so will be taking DS (2) out for his first time. I made his ghost costume, MH and I won’t be dressing up. I’m usually in my winter coat by the end of October lol. I may draw some whiskers on my face and be a lazy cat but that’s about it this year.

Adore all of your family costume ideas!! We've never done family costumes but they're so fun and creative.
I usually pull something together last minute. His first year he was Daniel from Karate Kid and last year was a skeleton (jammies and black eyeliner on the nose).
No idea what he'll be this year but he's obsessed with trains!

My 4 year old FINALLY decided! I told her it's bought to she's stuck with it. She is Gekko from PJ Masks and she wanted her little sister to be Owlette. I'm trying to talk DH to be Cat Boy to complete the trio. If you aren't familiar it's a Disney Jr show about kid super heroes.

I bought my cat a XXS dog's "button up" shirt, she's gonna be a nerd. LIKE THE REST OF THIS FAMILY.

DD has been saying she wanted to be a bat all week. Today we went to a couple of different stores and didn't see a bat costume. Luckily, she found an Elsa wig and and costume and decided that would be perfect. Last year she went as Anna...I'm sensing a theme.

DS wants to be a ghost, I already made his poncho. I can’t find knotted hats in his size so I’ll probably have to make it. I keep putting it off but hopefully get around to it in time.
