Barnes & noble didn't have the stranger beside me in stock. I prefer being able to hold a book. I guess I will have to prime it and be patient.

I don't anyone listening to the Up and Vanished podcast? About the Tara Grimstead case? It's riveting and happening in real time I'm a few episodes behind- I don't love the guy who does it (Payne?) and his style but it has been a good story to follow Wait until you get to episode 19 - he kind of loses his shit a little bit. I thought it was entertaining. He seems really young and green to me and a lot of his leaps of logic don't quite do it for me, but the story is great and I do like his general enthusiasm.

I have thread questions but I just started hanging out before the dumpster fire so I don't want to redo stuff ya'll have talked about
Have y'all done a thread on your favorite true crime or your favorite genre of true crime?

I stopped listening to Sword and Scale and moved to True Crime Garage. Sword and Scale was too much for me. I don't mind reading about it but hearing the sound effects freaks me out I like True Crime Garage, but the one guy annoys me a bit. He's always trying to tell jokes that fall flat and disrupt the flow of the stories. I just couldn't with the True Crime Garage guys. Sword and Scale disturbed me too chad. I think it had to do with the sound effects and that guys voice.

I just finished Stranger Beside me. Ted Bundy gives me the serious creeps - knowing that he was just a normal guy that no one even thought weirdly of (until there were too many coincidences).
i am reading Columbine now and I am just so sad that so many signs were missed with them. It is also super eye opening to the wrong info in the press that I believed to be true until this book.

I think they might be making a movie based off "devil in the white city" I feel like I heard Leo DiCaprio is attached to this one? So yeah, will watch. Scorsese will be directing and I believe it starts filming soon. It will be interesting to see DiCaprio play a bad guy, as that doesn't happen often.

No. I don't want to say name because triangulation by skin suiters, but that is not it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Oh Lord, there's more than one mystery axe murder event? *Shudders* There were strings of ax murders prior to the 40's and many experts believe some were related. You have the Lizzie Borden case. Villisca murdeers. Server girl annihilator (Austin Texas). The Axe man of New Orleans. The Vacalet family murders. The Meeks family murders. The list is quite extensive.

Welp, that does it for me. MFM and Up & Vanished will replace S&S. Last Podcast on the Left is pretty great. They do a ton of research first and cover an extensive amount of cases. If you want to know about it, they have probably covered it. They have a very loyal and awesome following on Facebook, too. The guy that does S&S is am asshole, sexist, and has huge red flags. He is currently bagging on people that have mental illness or developmental disabilities on FB and his group followings.

Can you elaborate? I only recently started listening and it seems like a good podcast at first, but if he's a dumpster fire, I'll take my ears elsewhere. +1 I started with episode one and that was great. But I've had to skip several, the content was too upsetting.
He majorly hits on/sexually harasses any female he deems 'hot' in his Facebook group. He also forces you to fill out a survey if you want to stop being a patreon and one of the questions is "what is your mental illness". Dude is a jackass. There are actually groups on facebook devoted to exposing his asshatery.

I've been bingeing the My Favorite Murder podcast while at work and I <3 their snark. Given what has been shared here I will take S&S off my list to listen to I enjoy that they don't get too bogged down in the details, just chat haha.

Be careful about that Columbine book. He's been criticized as romanticizing (for lack of a better word) Dylan Klebold. He's also been accused of presenting his opinions as facts.

Will A Stranger Beside Me give me nightmares? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The only issue I had with it was one day while I was reading it, I got to work at 5am and was the only one in the 30k sqft building there - I was super paranoid thinking - this is exactly how Ted Bundy would kill me. It isn't that scary and for some reason the fact that it happened so long ago - made it less scary for me.

Will A Stranger Beside Me give me nightmares? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It didn't bother me at all and I listened to the audiobook on a five hour drive at night in the rain. I think she does a good job of sharing the story without being gratuitous with the details

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I use my phone and head phones and I turn on a show for the kids in the van. That's pretty much the only way I get my podcasts listened to.

I just started episode 3 of The Keepers. Holy shit this is awful. I'm on 5 and it's crazy. I'm not feeling the shock of it as much because here in Canada the top was blown off that with residential schools. In my work, I've interviewed survivors and yeah, honestly I can't even. It is so unimaginable that a person could do this, never mind having it be so systematic. But some of the things I have been told, are so horrific it's hard to imagine how someone even thought to do it in the first place. The things that are being described in the show also happened systematically across Canada for decades at residential schools. Which I think is even more shocking. Like this wasn't one bad man or one bad school, and that is the truly scary part. How many thousands of people are complicit?
