clementine, I was sad to see Special K on mirabelle list too. I eat a bowl of Special K for breakfast every morning. Morning is the only time that milk tastes good to me and Special K has been hitting the spot. I am pretty sure it is healthier than some of the other stuff. For me, I can tolerate the most food between 8-4. After 4, I food is very meh to me. I eat a package of cheese and crackers almost every day, I've been drinking a Coke almost every day as it settles my stomach. I rarely drink pop when I am not pregnant. I have eaten way too much Taco Bell. Their chips and cheese have been tasting so good. DS and I went to Pizza Hut for dinner last night. The breadsticks were amazing, the pizza was meh. I am trying to eat decent because I have been fighting high BP and I had gestational diabetes with my son. Food is soo difficult for me with all of my nausea and vomiting, but I really am trying to eat somewhat healthy especially at lunchtime when my stomach tends to be less upset.

You all are such good pregnants. I have not once thought twice about eating the "forbidden" foods. Gimme all the lunch meat and sushi and runny eggs.
A lot of the food restrictions are out of date anyway. As I understand it, a lot of it is based on catching bacteria like listeria and e.coli, but if those shits are already in food, non-pregnants would be getting them, too. Our processing procedures have come a long way and the risk of those things being in my food is so low, I just don't worry about it.

Rama I'm like you. I don't eat tons of it, but I do eat it. If it sounds good, I'm game. Also, woodenshoes I can't eat after 4pm either. My all day sickness ramps up. I typically eat two breakfasts right now... (my bacon and cheese sammie, and then cereal a bit later).

you guys are making me hungry and making me feel better about my food choices! gummy bears are a pretty constant snack in my life right now and hot chocolate is happening every night. i'm trying to have some self control with ice cream for now, but i'm currently on vacation and just had some pre-dinner gelato. no regrets.

I have abstained from runny eggs so far only because I get my eggs super fresh from my mom's chickens. I need to buy some from the store and then I want my eggs very runny. Have even seriously considered making DH take me out for breakfast purely so I can get a runny egg.
Also would eat sushi if the opportunity arose.

I feel better about eating my fresh chicken eggs runny than I would about runny store-bought eggs! Mine are a heck of a lot fresher. Unless you mean you'd buy pasteurized eggs at the store, which I know is a thing, some places.

The internet says I am safer with store bought... I was going with it. Lol

I missed lunchmeat so much last pregnancy but tried to be a good pregnant by not eating it. During and since that pregnancy, there have been multiple listeria outbreaks in things I ate in spades like apples, Sabra hummus, etc. but never lunchmeat. So I have almost zero guilt about eating it this pregnancy.

Just eat all the things you can eat, unless it's legitimate poison. Then avoid that.

I'm essentially living on toddler food, namely mac n cheese. I had chocolate pop tarts for dinner the other day and promptly passed out for the night. Since H loves me, he picked up Krave double chocolate cereal at the same time, so obviously that's breakfast whenever I decide to eat that instead of said pop tarts. The special K cinnamon pecan was good too, but who am I to turn down chocolate. It was toast with flavored butter all day every day for a while, but that hasn't been sounding good lately. Pizza is still good. Basically that's about it as far as foods that don't make me immediately nauseous at the thought.

I hate when people are all "well, my (insert doctor here) said... but, my OB said he'd be more concerned about bean sprouts, spinach, frozen yogurt or soft serve ice cream than he would be lunch meats, sushi or runny eggs. I'm a smart person & I'm ordering/buying those things from reputable places & not, say gas station sushi.

I just ate two fresh from the oven cookies. They were delicious and I'm considering a third.

I think I have a box of brownie mix, but I'm a little worried about heavy chocolate brownies. Today is the first day in 2 weeks that food is starting to agree with me.

I made a big batch last night and only wanted one plus some dough. Fun tip for the perfect consistency of chocolate chip cookies that I found on Pinterest and actually liked: melt the butter completely before you mix in in, and use egg whites instead of whole eggs. Soooo soft and fluffy without being cakey like when you add too much flour.

I thought of a food confession: I have eaten almost an entire container of since Sunday with various fruits. Some of it has even managed to stay down.

I hate the lunch meat thing. I always crave Jimmy Johns while pregnant. Last time I tried real hard to abstain, but this time I'm like fuck it. With my first pregnancy spinach was recalled like five billion times, but Jimmy Johns wasn't.

I wish the outdated food precautions would die. I'll pretty much eat anything while pregnant ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm the opposite at the moment. I gained about 50lbs my first 2 pregnancies, but this one I don't have an appetite and am actually struggling to make myself eat enough food, and since I'm not craving anything I am better about eating well (sometimes). Same. Which is why I didn't comment in this thread, I feel like I was dealt a good card here. But I will buy a Taco Bell Quesarito minus the rice anytime I'm in town. Also +1 Rama to not worrying about the food restrictions. I usually get cooked sushi anyway, and lunch meat was one of the first and few cravings I had. I indulged and I'm fine. ETA also what tinyjoys said. Also I eat microwave Kraft mac&cheese a couple times a week as one of my six mini meals a day. I don't feel at all guilty.

I'm with you guys on the outdated food recs. Give me all the sushi and lunch meat. For a while all I could stomach was bologna sandwiches with barbecue chips. I hadn't eaten bologna in probably years so it was a weird craving.
Right now my go to snack is slim jim sticks. I brought a big box of their mini ones for this trip and I'm almost out.

I will eat all the lunch meat, unless it's from a sketchy place that I'm not confident it isn't old. I ate sushi in my 1st tri of my 1st pregnancy and got food poisoning at 8w so I avoid. I mean she's totally fine(ish) .

Yep, the only things I avoid are hard liquor and higher mercury fish. Also I try to avoid packaging with BPA. That's something I started doing in my first pregnancy and actually just kept on doing. The stuff I've read about BPA particularly in acidic foods like canned tomatoes is concerning. But I'll definitely enjoy a half glass of wine here and there once I get further into second tri and I don't avoid lunchmeat or sushi or anything like that. The statistical risks of food poisoning IMO don't warrant total avoidance, particularly when those foods can be a solid nutritional option for protein and healthy fats. So I guess those are my "confessions". Unfortunately I haven't been treating myself to anything really fun, though, and all of these posts are making me drool. I'm trying reaaaalllllyyyy hard to keep my weight under control because I gained so much during my first pregnancy (I started to refuse stepping on the scale once I hit 60 pounds ??? ) so I've been very careful about carbs and calories. Omg it sucks so bad but it seems to be helping. Yesterday at my 15w appointment I had only gained 5 pounds so far, and I think by this time last time I was already well over 10.

I just wish food sounded good. I haven't had a craving or even a moment of "oh that sounds good" in weeks. If my body didn't need it I could quit food all together.

Cold & fresh fruits & veggies and ice water sound so so good, but carbs a la Munchos chips or Sprite/7Up stay down so much better 😞
