For the purposes of this check-in, we will define extended breastfeeding as breastfeeding beyond 1 year. Questions are repeated and suggestions are appreciated! 1. How old is your LO? 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3. Does your LO drink other milk besides breast milk? How did you introduce it? 4. Who is your BFing role model, if you have one? Pregnant & BFing Moms: How are you doing this week? Any issues with supply, pain, aversion? Questions for other moms? Tandem Nursing Moms: How are you doing this week? Any current challenges? Questions for other moms? Non-BFing question of the week: You have $30 to spend at your local thrift store. What treasures do you go hunting for?

1. How old is your LO? 2 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3 3. Does your LO drink other milk besides breast milk? How did you introduce it? DS2 gets about 6 oz of WCM every day with his daycare lunch. He didn't immediately love WCM, so I gradually began mixing in with whatever I pumped after 1 year, then gradually backed off with the BM until he was left with just the 1 cup of milk along with his lunch and snack. 4. Who is your BFing role model, if you have one? I greatly admire anyone that has nursed multiples.
Non-BFing question of the week: You have $30 to spend at your local thrift store. What treasures do you go hunting for? My favorite thing to find is stuff someone hand made -- crocheted blankets, embroidery, hand-sewn clothes, etc. I also love vintage costume jewelry. Of course, I can't find those things every time. If I had to spend the money that day, I'd probably look for some interesting clothes for DS1, or a frame that I could use for a poster or print.

Oh. I had posted on the last one. I'll just copy and paste.
1. How old is your LO? 22 months next week 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? before bed, some MOTN (though I started trying to cut that out last night - it went okay), and morning 3. What is your LO's most annoying nursing-related habit/quirk (nipple twiddling, skin pinching, hair pulling, etc.)? Latching and unlatching constantly 4. What are your LO's favorite foods (besides mommy's milk)? banana, chicken, peas, green beans, cheese, peanut butter, bread
Pregnant & BFing Moms: How are you doing this week? Any issues with supply, pain, aversion? Questions for other moms? I'm 4w5d pregnant, and last night I was having a lot of pain when she was nursing before bed, which is part of the reason I decided to go ahead and cut MOTN feedings out. It didn't hurt when she nursed this morning, so hopefully that doesn't continue long.

Congrats Risscaboobs ! 1. How old is your LO? 20 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3-5 during day and overnight. although, sometimes the early morning nursing is like a long session on and off and that itself could be several sessions. 3. Does your LO drink other milk besides breast milk? How did you introduce it? She has cow's milk at daycare. I think they do 1%. She doesn't really have it at home because I nurse her..... should I be giving her milk too? I just give her water with meals and access to water sippy whenever she wants it. 4. Who is your BFing role model, if you have one? Myself. Does this count? Ha. I try to talk about breastfeeding with other moms because it doesn't really seem to come up that much, especially extended breastfeeding. I didn't really have anyone that I looked up to before I started but most of my friends BF'd around a year. Non-BFing question of the week: You have $30 to spend at your local thrift store. What treasures do you go hunting for? I probably wouldn't. THis is probably an UO but thrift stores and garage sales aren't really my thing.

Congrats Risscaboobs! 1. How old is your LO? 12 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? ~4/per day and usually 2 times at night. But the past few nights it's been a lot at night. 3. Does your LO drink other milk besides breast milk? How did you introduce it? Not yet. 4. Who is your BFing role model, if you have one? Hmm...I don't know. Non-BFing question of the week: You have $30 to spend at your local thrift store. What treasures do you go hunting for? I like to get stuff for DD from consignment stores. I don't have the patience to search through all the racks for stuff for me most of the time.

1. A couple days shy of 21 months. 2. A lot 3. Not really. She has a dairy allergy and we have tried some dairy free milks, but she won't drink them (I use them for cooking though). 4. I would say my mom.
QOTW: probably art work

Risscaboobs, when I was KU and BFing, the pain and nursing aversions would come and go.

Risscaboobs, Congratulations! 1. How old is your LO? 22 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 2-3 3. Does your LO drink other milk besides breast milk? How did you introduce it? She JUST starting liking cows milk. I first offered her WCM around 16/17 months but she wanted nothing to do with it. I continued to offer it here and there but she would always try it and spit it out. DH drinks a lot of milk and she started wanting what was in his cup so he shared a little with her and over time she started liking it. He drinks skim milk so that's what she wanted at first but I just got a small jug of 2% and she happily drank that. She still mostly drinks water but with one or two meals a day she'll get the milk. 4. Who is your BFing role model, if you have one? I don't think I really have one. Pregnant & BFing Moms: How are you doing this week? Any issues with supply, pain, aversion? Questions for other moms? Tomorrow I'll be 39 weeks. Nursing aversion has come and gone this pregnancy but yesterday was bad. I left like she was slurping and my skin was crawling. I wanted her done so bad, I actually snapped a little at her which I NEVER do. I felt horrible. Yesterday was the first time I thought weaning might seriously need to happen. Today was great though and she happily nursed for 15 minutes this morning and I felt completely normal, so who knows... Non-BFing question of the week: You have $30 to spend at your local thrift store. What treasures do you go hunting for? I can never find things in thrift stores that excite me much. I would probably check out the kids clothing racks and the books.

1. How old is your LO? - 2.5 years
2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? - 2-4x
3. Does your LO drink other milk besides breast milk? How did you introduce it? - cows milk. I introduced in a cup shortly after he turned 1 & he took to it right away. I wanted to make sure he would have some milk option if we had to be apart before I gave my frozen stash to my BFF when her preemie came home. Nowadays he drinks 2% when he asks for it with breakfast.
4. Who is your BFing role model, if you have one? - I don't have one. I'm continually inspired by those who come through the Newborn Check In, figuring things out, learning how to nurse with this particular baby or babies. But a role model? Can't think of one. I didn't really know anyone who nursed more than 6 months before I had DS.
Non-BFing question of the week: You have $30 to spend at your local thrift store. What treasures do you go hunting for? - I'm not much of a thrifter. Storage/organization stuff, or things for DS.

1. 21/19 mo adjusted. 2. 5am, a few times in the day, nap and pre bed...so many. 3. He'll drink cows milk, but we don't really push it at all and he's usually fine with water. He started getting it at daycare, because he wouldn't drink a bottle...ever. 4. Not a role model, but I love how open P!ink is about BF and pumping.
I know the boy is not even close to ready to wean, but I am getting there. I've been cutting sessions short and redirecting lately. We have successfully night weaned though. No boob bedtime to 5ish am and while I'm not a big fan of him needing a hand on my chin mole, it's still progress. He's spending two nights away next weekend while we go to a wedding, so we'll see what happens when I'm out of sight and out of mind.
My thrift store has a surprising amount of designer jeans and cool jackets, so I'd probably start there.

1. How old is your LO? 15 months
2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 10+
3. Does your LO drink other milk besides breast milk? How did you introduce it? Yeah, she drinks wcm and sometimes almond milk. Around 11 months I just gave her a cup of wcm and she drank it.
4. Who is your BFing role model, if you have one? Is this a thing? No one. 🤷♀️

1. How old is your LO? 21 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3, most days. If he's sick (which feels like alllll the time, thx daycare) he will nurse more. 3. Does your LO drink other milk besides breast milk? How did you introduce it? WCM, we introduced it around 14ish months I think, just gave him a cup of it instead of BM one day and he drank it like it was nothing. He loves it so much... I think we probably need to limit it. He was iron deficient around 12 months, deficiency was gone by 18 months but I'm due to get him re-checked soon and I'm afraid his levels will be low again & we'll need to cut back on WCM. 4. Who is your BFing role model, if you have one? Anyone who is breezy about NIP, I never could get comfortable with it and I think it was a big part of me not leaving the house much for a long time after C was born.
Non-BFing question of the week: I'd look for old-school Tupperware, serving dishes, vases.
