I need help. We are probably going to have between 30-40 people. I've invited 16 kids of varying ages but there is a good chance they won't all come. At least 2 vegetarians. What are you feeding people? What beverages will you serve.
I'm thinking of brunch. I want to enjoy his party and not spend the entire time in the kitchen. Our party is from 11am-3pm. A meal is required in my circle of friends.

So for us, we keep party good super simple. C's birthday I did a couple of pizzas, chips/cheesies, fruit tray, cake. I had juice boxes and bottles of water.
If something more is required/expected, I would try to keep it to stuff you can do in advance. That way you can actually enjoy thr party. You could do a bunch of salads (macaroni, potato, etc) and a main meat. Or have a pot of chili made, cesar salad, garlic toast. Or spaghetti and just do a small pot of meatless sauce.

At this point, my plan is to do a lumberjack bash. So I want to do a chili bar. One crockpot of regular beef chili, one of white chicken chili, and one of a vegetarian bean chili. And then have toppings--cheese, tortilla chips, sour cream, avocado etc.
Basically, it sounds good now but I may scrap it and just order pizza. For B we had barbecue catered. We did pulled pork and corn bread and we made a bunch of salads (mac, potato) to keep costs down. I bought some raspberry lemonade for the kids and threw it in a jug, water, beer and wine.

We did Mexican food for B's first birthday; I think our party started at 12. It was really fun, the adults loved the margaritas, and it was easy to prep everything in advance (we did chips and salsa, a taco bar, chili, fruit salad and corn casserole). I made everything myself bc it was a smaller group but you could also have something catered relatively inexpensively.

The last party I went to had party subs and fried chicken. We're still trying to decide what to do. H might make pulled pork and mac and cheese. I'll probably buy a bag of chicken nuggets for the kids too and make a salad. Or we'll do pasta and chicken. No idea yet.

We're doing barnyard theme. About 35 people, of those there are about 10 kids. No special diet unless you count Hs veganism 🙄
My plan is this but I will probably cut down on some of this, these were just the ideas I found and liked and thought were easy to use.
Apps: Chicken Feed (Chex mix) and Hay (pretzel sticks) Vegetable Garden (veggies and dip) Baby Chicks (deviled eggs) Pigs in a Blanket
Main: Hot Digs and Burgers Pigs Tail Pasta (corkscrew pasta salad) Pig Slop (baked beans) Old Macdonald Mac n Cheese Cabbage Patch (polish Golumbki - stuffed cabbage)
Dessert: Hay Bales (Rice Krispie treats) Lasso (licorIce) Sheep Wool (cotton candy) Cow Pies (brownies) Cake obviously
Drinks: Moo Moo milk Duck pond lemonade Water Adults - Moo-mosas wine and beer

sarahwithanh there is a place near my parents that does breakfast pizzas. Think eggs on pizza dough with cheese and toppings. We had it at both my sisters baby showers and they were a complete hit. You could search for something like that if you wanted to stick with brunch. Add some pastries and a fruit salad. Good to go!

sarahwithanh i have a really tasty breakfast casserole recipe (egg based) if you're interested. You actually have to make it the night before and then just pop in the oven before serving. I always get a ton of compliments and it sits well--we've taken it to early tailgates, etc. It's also easier to keep warm than say, scrambled eggs or whatever.
