Hi! The midweek check in is kind of like a Randoms. Feel free to join in, this board could use some fun. How has your week been? Any plans for the weekend?

Just went with my mom and DD to pick up my aunt from the airport. I wish we could stay a little longer, because I hardly get to see her. But at least I'll get to see her for a few days before we leave.

DS is at camp. He ended up getting invited to a STEM camp after his computer camp until 3:30 this week so my days ended up being longer than expected.

Soccer starts tonight This is the first year DS will be on the official "team." Since he was 3, he was doing the instructional program but he has aged out! (well, technically he could stay but 3 years in instructional is enough, it's time to move on & when they were going through birthday years, his came up for the signups for the team.) He's not the most athletic kid & can be rather goofy but I think I'm gonna like having some structure for him rather than the random things they do at instructional. The only weird thing that came up is a couple weeks ago, I got an email saying they needed a coach. DH expressed interest even though I would have preferred him not to be one since that's our time to relax. Lol so I emailed them back with just some questions before committing & they responded with a mom expressed interest & maybe one could be head coach & the other assistant? DH wasn't interested in that. The next thing I know an email comes through from her as the coach. Okay then. I suspect maybe they knew each other which is why they chose her right off the bat before taking the time to talk to us but anyway the thing that I don't understand is that we're paying for soccer.. more than instructional was & I always thought that this was when the real "coaching" started. Like, true skills & all that.. by real coaches.. not a parent volunteer. It kind of makes me scratch my head a bit. Instructional was a real coach & he's dealing with pre-school kids/kindergarten kids. There's something wrong with this picture. Lol

auri I hope the time you get will be enjoyable and won't pass to quickly. NamasteBirches wow you are one busy mom. So many camps! Also yeah that's kinda weird. Why would they "move up" only to essentially lose the better coaching. That doesn't make sense. I know a lot of kids sports around here have assistant coaches that are volunteers but I would just assume that the coach was someone who was trained.

I should have picked out a carpet cleaner weeks ago, but I still can't decide. So many models with tiny differences makes it hard to sort out which to buy. I hate shopping for stuff like this. Anyone have one they love or hate?
I can't believe the weekend is almost here. The week has gone fast so far.

Yea, I've been calling myself his chauffeur & life planner this summer but at least I'm getting a break in between it all & he's having loads of fun & experiences. As far as soccer, maybe this is an out of the ordinary situation for them I'm not sure but looking at the schedule a lot of the last names are very familiar to me as parents so idk if maybe a lot of them have previous soccer experience themselves or what but still, it's parents. I'd much rather prefer an outside person. We also live in a college town. I bet it'd be so easy to recruit a couple of guys/girls from the soccer team to come out & coach. So weird.

NamasteBirches I completely agree. I get being coached by parents, but the parents should have some background. I am not looking forward to starting official sports. We are avoiding it at the moment and have found plenty of instructional, 4 -6 week activities instead. However, I know it's coming.

We are having an odd week. I have some volunteer commitments today and dd1 has soccer. We've had play dates and Doctor appointments. The dog had an appointment. The weather has sucked. My kids are going stir crazy and my house is a wreck. I'm feeling so overwhelmed and I cannot catch up. Oh and I turned on a job ap Monday. So overwhelmed. I guess the plus would be $ at which point I'm peace out on some of these house tasks I'm dealing with. Can I hire a laundress??

Life just feels very busy lately and I'm just feeling rather burnt out. We had a couple of play dates this week which was nice and today we are going to the zoo. This weekends plans consist of cleaning my house, including full organization and getting ready for new carpet to be put in next week.
I hope everyone is well!

So soccer was good. DS did really well. Sometimes he can be a wildcard with his behavior & you're just not sure how he's gonna behave &/or participate but he was awesome. I was so proud. As far as the coach, she wasn't bad. She had a little meeting afterwards & did a sort of intro. She apparently has coaching experience but just not with this age so she was open to all the comments/suggestions, etc. She kept asking everyone who was at the instructional's practice often for pointers (which we were every.single.week.) Said if anyone wanted to be an assistant, feel free. DH said he wanted to, he was being funny & critiquing things. I think he was feeling a little snubbed that they didn't give him a chance so we'll see. First game is in two Saturdays!

Wow sounds like lots of busy parents around here lately. We're finally slowing down and I'm enjoying it. dizzycooks if you hire a laundress, will you pretty please share her? younglove ohhh I love new carpet. Not the price but just having it in feels about a billion times cleaner (and softer). NamasteBirches well at least she has experience. I hope your H want feel snubbed for too long, although I can understand why that would bother him. Hopefully he'll have fun anyway.

cam I usually just go to the grocery store and rent the Rug Dr when I need my carpets cleaned. It does a pretty good job.

Rug Dr does have a good reputation, but Bissel and Hoover make lighter weight ones which would be so much nicer for stairs. I am hoping they also have a good track record, especially because they are obviously known brands in the vacuum world.
