H had a conference in Grapevine Tx in the fall. DD and I are going to go with. I searched through threads looking for Dallas/Grapevine threads. And have found a couple of suggestions I’m excited about. But wondering, is there anywhere specific you really like in the area? Is it worth heading to downtown Dallas for some wandering as well? I won’t have a car though…so also wondering, will Downtown Dallas be too much of stretch carless?

Downtown Dallas is not walking friendly. There is some public transit, but a car is almost necessary to get around, especially from Grapevine.

I figured as much about the distance from Grapevine to downtown Dallas, but thought, maybe if it’s worth it, I’d figure another way to get us downtown. But sounds like for the few days we’ll be in town, sticking to the Grapevine area makes sense.

Grapevine really isn’t walkable either. If you are staying at like The Gaylord you’re good but otherwise you will probably want a car to explore.

The Gaylord has a fun water park we like to go to when we’re up there.

I’m going, and taking DD, because it looks like a decent spot for a kid! And jaygee, I’m devastated. We’re actually there early Dec.

Although, no offense to grapevine, we must be destined to meet in a more fabulous location. Make sure to have some yummy Texas BBQ

The pool is great and decent dining options. Y’all should have fun! We stayed there a few years ago and enjoyed it.

The Gaylord is a great hotel. There’s not a ton to do in Grapevine, it’s a standard suburb. There’s a Legoland and an aquarium if your kid is at the right age for those. They’re not far from the hotel, but you’ll need a car or an Uber/Lyft. There’s a cute downtown area with a Main Street that has cute little shops and restaurants, too.

How old is your DD?
Can you rent a car? Bc that would give you a lot more freedom.
Also it’s so funny to me bc I was born in Grapevine almost 42 years ago and back then there was a dance studio and a saloon and nothing else 🤣 the Walmart going in was a BIG deal. :::shakes cane:::

Go to Esparza’s for amazing food. I have that scribbled down due to an earlier recommendation from you! And whoa, that menu looks spectacular, I flipped through it the other day and it just goes on and on….and makes me happy. And DD will be 10, and for sure. We could rent a car. But we’re only there a couple of days so I wasn’t sure it was warranted. But definitely open to ideas!
