He is talking about peaceful protest vs violence and the problem is everyone seems to think peaceful means hate speech and violence

I breastfed for 6.5 years. The idea that support isn’t necessary because it’s ‘natural’ is asinine.

Jfc I just saw a video of police shooting rubber bullets at UCLA students edited to add a link. (Not a graphic video, a summary of this creator's experience there. She is an A+ follow www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRwaQco6/GMA was there live this morning and it was so disheartening

They think they can demagogue the protests to make Dems look bad Yes, this is what they're aiming for. Sadly I already had a sense of doom and that trump could win. Biden’s handling of all of this is pushing me towards trump will for sure win 😞

Yes, this is what they're aiming for. Idk I feel like this is a flawed take (in the tweet). There are plenty of reasons for pro-Palestinian protestors to be upset with Joe, all on his own merit. Of course there are, I don't see where the above claims otherwise? Only that the horseshoe that happens is on full display and to not consider that bad actors (and the GOP) are taking advantage would be naive. It's completely indefensible that we keep giving weapons and parts to Israel. I'm angry. As many (most? I'd hope) are. These students are so brave, and I support their right to protest and admire them putting it all on the line. There are however, agitators joining in and taking advantage of the situation to create more unrest and stoke violence. Just like what happened in 2020. We're heading for another summer of extreme protests, and I don't think it's at all a coincidence that it's happening again in an election year, and right now. Why not last fall, or in January? Xwitter is cesspool of misinformation with far right voices and bots being amplified and tiktok is not any better, especially you fall down particula fyp rabbit holes. Not to say that there isn't good information out there, there is, but it's hard to wade through and when emotions are high people often react before digging for the truth. Just yesterday a bunch of people mistook a reporter's posts about ongoing protests in the country of Georgia to be about the state. 🤦🏼♀️ I do want to be clear, those points are not at all to take away from legitimate protests. And I definitely understand protests can turn violent all on their own and that violence is often the only way people without power or a voice get to be heard. So no condemnation on my part, only concern because things are at a flashpoint. I hope I'm communicating my point clearly, it's difficult in just text vs in person conversation without any of the other things like inflection and tone that help with effective communication.

Two CT state house representatives from opposite sides of the aisle banded together to try and stop a bill that would license board-certified lactation consultants. The 2 bitties had this to say: Breastfeeding is natural. You know when you have a baby that's going to happen. Honestly, this is so natural that I am shocked we need a consultant Women have been breastfeeding babies for centuries,” she said, adding licenses were never required. You know why? Because it's a natural thing. Nobody needs to be taught how to breastfeed. Thankfully the bill passed CT house — I am forever grateful for my lc www.ctinsider.com/politics/article/ct-lactation-consultant-license-bill-house-ok-19423597.phpI had no idea about this and I'm so glad they did not get their way. Wtf.

Of course there are, I don't see where the above claims otherwise? "Imagine being so pro-Palestinian you would vote for Trump" is disingenuous. Who said someone chanting "f that guy" is voting for the other guy? Throwing the threat of a Muslim ban at Arabs who are rightfully angry at Joe Biden, at Palestinian Americans who have lost scores of community members. That's a rhetorical tactic meant to detract from the real and horrific things happening in the name of U.S. politics right now.

And that's not to say there aren't agitators, bad actors, etc. I agree, elle, it feels like we're on the precipice of something scary. But I don't want to fall into a trap of shaming people for votes.

Wtf. If it’s so natural why did I have so much trouble even with a consultant and would cry all the time and continue to try for 4 months because even though I knew formula was fine it’s been ingrained in my head how breast is best and it’s natural and I felt like less than a mom because it was miserable to me

But I don't want to fall into a trap of shaming people for votes. This will probably make me sound like an asshole but I am going to say it anyway. I am fine with vote shaming the people in the group(s) I belong to. White people (and white women) should be voting for harm reduction. Period. It's ugly and I wish things were different but these are the cards we've been dealt. The least we can do as people not directly under threat is hold our noses and vote for the one who will hurt people less. And then continue to push our government and hold them accountable. That's not to say people aren't allowed to be angry and say fuck Joe Biden, of course they are, but the people I see most often saying they refuse to vote for him now*, are white. I won't speak on how any Muslims or Palestinians or any POC should vote. That's not my place. *and lets be real, not voting is as good as voting for TFG

Republicans benefit from these protests in several ways 1. 'Dems are antisemitic' 2. 'Joe Biden's America is chaos and crime' 3. 'Elite universities are brainwashing young people' It's so cynical and so grosd

Our campus protests are mostly tankies who fuckin love this kinda thing. And it’s mostly non students, particularly the really destructive stuff. It’s not great and gives fuel to the fascists.

This is when I really wish we had ranked choice voting. Being able to send a message without ending up with an authoritarian.

Oh FFS. I was only able to nurse for as long as I did because of an LC. As is the case for many, many women. Yes. Mine + the amazing women I met in the weekly BF’ing moms support group she led + AmyG are the only reason I was able to make it past like week 2.
