Can you poop regularly??🤣🤣
For real though I’m 6 weeks post op and have not been able to go to the bathroom normally since…I only took pain killers a few days after surgery so they wouldn’t be causing it still. I’ve been on stool softeners off and on and they don’t really help. I’ve used laxatives a few times just to get it out of me.
My doctor didn’t seem concerned when I mentioned it at my 2 week check up. Said just to drink plenty of fluids and take colace.
Is this something I’m going deal with for a while? …forever?? I know I need to work on my diet but I’ve been lucky and never really had to deal with this before. Google doesn’t answer this question for long term, just immediately after surgery.
He also mentioned he fixed an umbilical hernia I didn’t even know I had. It was laparoscopic so when he made the incision he found it and said he put a few extra stitches in to fix it. And warned that I need to be extra careful about lifting so It doesn’t happen again.. which straining to go to the bathroom is also freaking me out a bit thinking I’m going to give myself another one 😅
Also…after having a c-section i thought it was going to be a breeze…I was so so wrong😫

I haven't had my appendix removed nor a C-section, but I recommend magnesium instead of the stool softener. I've found that works for me when stool softeners don't. Maybe a daily quarter dose of miralax also. I've heard that appendix removal does impact all that though since it's in that area.

Also make sure you're getting plenty of fruits and veggies. When I'm doing well with those I notice things have an easier time moving through lol.

+1 to magnesium. Worked much better for me PP than colace.

Miralax mixed in a bottle of water. Sip on it all day. If you don't poo do it again next day. Once you do it, if you aren't regular right away start with half dose miralax every day lowering dose as you improve. Once you get backed up from surgery it seems to be easier to get backed up again.
