Some good news, no more outrageously gerrymandered maps in Wisconsin.

SC runs their GQP primary on Saturday; the whole circus cannot end soon enough.

I hate how much it costs to run for office. Such a huge waste of money.

Yikes that's probably one of the worst pictures of him I've ever seen.

He has been looking very, very old lately. I said that to my mom the other day. He looks sooooo old to me the past six-ish months. It's concerning.

This is just devastating and another instance of where Chaya Raichik sets her focus, violence follows.

The school nurse didn't call an ambulance when Nex was physically unable to walk to the office for help. Th nurse should also be charged.
As a middle school nurse and the mother of a trans teen, this story made me physically ill. Like, I choked back vomit. I know it's not the only one, but...that sweet baby reminds me of mine. And then I have to get out of my head because the following thoughts are literally unbearable.

He has been looking very, very old lately. I would even say the last 140 days or so he has aged significantly. Being on the wrong side of a genocide is showing.

I feel so much for Nex's loved ones because not only have they lost them, the hate they're (most likely) receiving from vile trolls while they grieve is sickening.
Not to mention I don't have a whole lot of faith their murder will be charged and prosecuted appropriately.

This is really interesting! gifted link wapo.st/3wpLfzo"Traits associated with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) such as impulsivity and distractibility are known to make many everyday modern tasks more challenging. But they may also offer humans an advantage by helping them to forage more effectively — a key technique used by hunter gatherers and nomadic tribes to survive, a new study published Wednesday suggests. According to the study in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B, people with ADHD-like traits are less likely to dwell among depleting food resources and more likely to explore other options instead — which can give them a foraging advantage in some environments. The findings challenge some of the negative associations of ADHD, described by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as “one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood.” And they appear to support the “evolutionary mismatch” theory of neurodivergence, which posits that such traits are disadvantages only in certain environments."

It would be nice if something could be done about education etc. to reflect that and not just be we must medicate you to cope with modern life.

The medical reports say there was no trauma, and the reports from the school and police are so contradictory. The whole thing is fishy and I have zero faith this family will get any kind of justice or answers. It's absolutely devastating and disgusting. An artist I follow lives in Tulsa and is working to raise funds for Nex's family and some other organizations in the area doing good work.

I have been continually surprised about how much of the elementary level education looks exactly like it did in the 80s. Like yeah, there are computers and more “projects” but the structure and presentation of materials is really unchanged. I know catering to the minority of students wouldn’t be a solution but it seems like a lot of what would work better for ADHD/neurodivergent students would also work well with neurotypical students. A least variety would help. Especially since I feel strongly that it’s a spectrum more so than all or nothing.

Her teacher has "flexible seating " where they only have a few desks, and everything else is soft seating with large pillows and carpets. DD1 does so much better laying on the floor than at a table. But yes, we already know that not everyone learns the same way (I myself am a kinetic learner) and we should accommodate that better

Almost anything I implemented in my classroom for my ND students, I did for or offered to all of my students. A) bc I, too, believe ADHD is a spectrum, B) bc I know how hard it is to get a diagnosis for even a child presenting with obvious signs, and C) it might help a neurotypical kid too, and it definitely won't hurt!

Was anyone here affected by the massive AT&T outage this morning? We don't have AT&T but it sounds like the impact was enormous.
