I think the most likely story is plastic surgery. She’s got a history with fillers, Botox, etc. She’s so public that any visible areas (like a face) would be super noticeable for quite a while. Would plastic surgery take place in a regular hospital? Like they have staff for everything...it's not like she needs to run out to get milk. If it was plastic surgery I would think they would have planned the break and not really announced anything. Well maybe something went wrong.

And/Or someone was going to leak that she was there and they got ahead of it.

Well maybe something went wrong. Or someone was going to leak that she was there and they got ahead of it. I mean I certainly hope nothing went wrong, but I'm willing to bet it was a combination of these and there were complications to whatever was planned.

You caught me before I edited to “and/or” bc I totally agree.

When did we see Kate last? I wonder if she had the surgery a while ago and now there are complications that came up suddenly and unexpectedly when everyone had assumed she’d be good to go by now. (Another vote for mommy makeover)

(Another vote for mommy makeover) I feel like it was Christmas? So maybe she had something done right after the holidays.

She was last seen Xmas day for the church service/walk
I've seen online speculation about a burst appendix where maybe by "planned" they mean a very short period of time

I dunno. I don't think this is a mommy makeover. I could be wrong. (I would like one of those, though!)

I posted that tweet yesterday where an ambulance/motorcade of sorts was seen going to the hospital 12/28 I think.

Morning news is reporting she "will be out of the spotlight for months". NBC highlights were: Planned Elective Possibly through the muscle Motorcade at Sandringham Engagements to resume after Easter Willy also to have lighter schedule in the coming months

My SIL gave birth in the same hospital wing as Kate. A normal birth resulted in a 5 day stay with high tea daily 😂
So, a 2 week stay for something that normally takes maybe a week tops doesn’t surprise me.

Has anyone at NBC ever seen an anatomy textbook? Planned/elective just means it wasn't emergent.

I have a friend who was positive for a few cancer markers, so she preventatively had a double mastectomy and hysterectomy. Perhaps something like that.

Even laparoscopy has to "punch" through the muscle. Those core muscles are what keep us upright. Eta mine felt like I did a thousand sit-ups. Teeny tiny incisions, but lord I literally needed to hold onto things to sit and stand. I remember wishing for an ADA grab bar next to the toilet because peeing was an ordeal.

I had a mommy makeover and it was not really a big deal and you couldn't tell I had anything done within 5 days. I wasn't racing anywhere but I could easily walk places and wear clothes that didn't highlight the OPs. Obviously I'm amazing and my healing is top notch (do I need a smiley? This is meant tongue in cheek) but I feel like something must have gone pretty wrong to be taking a multiple month break for those planned surgeries.

I wonder if Kate has a chronic condition like Crohn’s Disease or something similar. It can stay in remission for long periods of time but would also account for her thinness. Maybe she had a flare-up around Christmas that has necessitated surgery with an extended hospital stay to get the flare-up under control.

Everyone was like we know we shouldn't be speculating but we are anyway 😅

Hmm, my cousin's wife had a large intestinal resection several years back due to Crohn scarring. She was in the hospital for 5 days, as they had to wrap part of her intestines around an anchor point to keep it in place (I am sure there is a better medical description). Clearly, she is not a future queen, so I can see something like that.

I keep thinking along the lines of Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, etc. I wish you good drugs, Kate, for whatever it is.

I also was thinking that a 10-14 day stay is a frequently standard amount for Psychiatric hospitalization for serious suicidal ideation. Obviously hopefully not that.

I both wish her privacy but can't help but wonder what's happening. Easter isn't until the end of March so disappearing for 2 1/2 months after a 10-14 day hospital stay feels like a big deal.
I hope she's ok.

My friend with diverticulitis losing a bunch of intestines to infection he stayed over a week.
My nephew's appendix ruptured into his colon somehow. It was not considered emergency surgery cause first they put him on some strong antibiotics and scheduled exploratory the next day to figure out what happened. And he stayed in hospital 10 days on iv antibiotics. Took him long time to recover.
So there's a few things that can get you 7 to 10 days in us. I'd imagine there's hundreds if things for a future queen that will get you 10 to 14 days.

I’ve also seen speculation that KP is padding the length of hospital stay just like they do with pregnancies. Then maybe she can sneak out of the hospital in 5-7 days without too much notice. Kind of like how they sneak into the hospital to give birth but in reverse.

Looking at it as a nurse, none of the options for a 2 week hospital stay and subsequent recovery period look good expect if it’s plastic surgery. Bowel surgeries can be so complicated with life long issues, which was my first thought taking the press release at face value.
I wouldn’t be surprised though if this is part of a greater coverup for mental health/eating disorder treatment. She’s in hospital to stabilize her physically and then would need extensive day treatment to aide in her recovery.

I honestly can't imagine her needing a mommy makeover. Her waist always appears so tiny. But obviously I'm not one of the most photographed women in the world so I can't really relate to that pressure.
