dc2london , In November a few years ago DD2 fractured her arm from a little tykes trampoline, but they said it was akin to a monkey bar fracture (just above the elbow). What worked well was an outer fleece or puffy vest for layering, and to be honest I took a few old long sleeve shirts and a fleece hoodie and cut the arms off at the top of the cast so she would have long sleeves at least on the other side. The time will go fast! Though I do appreciate she is a fashionista. ETA going back through pics looks like we did find a zipup hoodie that was stretchy enough to pull up over the cast.

MH suggested I just cut the arms off her sweatshirts like Bill Belichick lol. I said why cut both, why not cut just the right sleeve off? Business on the left, party on the right 🤣 I checked her closet and she does have a few button up cardigans so I might just rotate those and button the top button to keep it on her

We are mostly in long sleeve season here, so I welcome any tips on keeping her warm enough. At the moment I've got her in a short sleeved shirt with a sweater over her left arm and the right sleeve just kind of tucked into the sling Poor kid! I hope she heals up quickly. DS broke his arm badly in October back when he was in 2nd grade. We bought him a bunch of t-shirts and zip-up hoodies a size up to wear at the time. The larger size allowed us to put his arm in first, then maneuver the shirt over his head. The sweatshirts could just rest over his shoulder on his injured side.

I just sat in on a meeting where my kid picked his senior year classes, identified his short and long term goals, and generally discussed his college plans with minimal involvement from me (and where I was involved it was to pull him back from taking too hard of a schedule his senior year-like lets go for some easy A’s to balance your harder courses. He also voluntarily decided to take two ‘rocks for jocks’ classes he needs for graduation via summer school so he can get early dismissal all next year.
I am so, so proud of the human he is becoming.

The warm parental glow lasted until his friend called to say their school bus was late so the brain trust of teenage boys decided the safest/best/logical solution would be to walk over 2 miles home on roads drivers reach 45-50 mph on with no sidewalks and no shoulders.
Thankfully the bus showed just as they were walking away. But please trust it was the subject of conversation multiple times tonight, most of which started ‘ But Ma, listen…’
I need to find out who the patron saint of teenage boys is and make the appropriate offerings.
😂 💀 🤦🏻♀️

trueblue I laughed, because of course they would try to walk it. Back in high school, I probably would have done the same. Teenagers, man. I'm glad the bus showed up on time.

One time I walked 2 miles home on 25 mph roads with sidewalks instead of taking the hour long bus ride (I was the last stop). Somehow my mother found out and was furious (I didn't lie about it, I never told her bc I didn't think it mattered). Maybe because my boyfriend walked me home? But he didn't come inside, he had to get to his after school job at Blockbuster. My parents had nooooo idea how easy they had it with me. I got in trouble for the dumbest things.

I called our (Catholic) church yesterday after we got a vote no on Issue 1 mailer and told them to remove us from the roster because we don't want any more mail full of lies. The receptionist was all "sorry you feel that way" and I wish I had said more than I did, but I know it fell on deaf ears. Our local Catholic churches are going all out with giant vote no banners, passing out signs after mass, etc, and it's all in the name of "protect the children". I could probably yell about it all day.
MH took DD to a different Catholic church nearby that's a "non-territorial faith community" of Marianists so they follow slightly different rules, but the local right to life group had put flyers on every car during mass.
I'm really disgusted with Catholics right now. I've struggled a lot with my faith in recent years because they're been a lot of BS in general and they've obviously always been anti-abortion, but they're not even mentioning abortion in these mailers/flyers/etc. It's all lies about children.
TL;DR The local Catholic churches in Ohio are fear mongering with lies about Issue 1

I don’t attend any of the Catholic Churches, but I’ve seen the signs all around and all about protecting the children. I’ve struggled with faith a lot lately as well. I’m actually getting really nervous for this election. I just can’t image if it doesn’t pass. Or maybe I just don’t want to imagine if it doesn’t pass.

There was polling this week that showed 58% of people plan to vote yes. Obviously that could be wrong, but it's pretty in line with the Aug vote which I think was basically the first step for Nov, most people knew what the state was trying to do. Turnout is going to be crazy high. Early voting already appears to be higher than a presidential year.

Our ballot is just bonds City bonds and school bonds. So many say city and schools have plenty of money no on bonds without even looking at the info. Yes it will raise property taxes but not by much. And some are because exiting taxes have expired so won't raise taxes any.

I double checked a few places and it turns out there are no active elections for my district this year, which explains the absence of any election signs around us. I am soaking up the calm before 2024.

Baby O was diagnosed with HFM today. And N has thrown up 3x since picking him up from school. And DH is having insane nerve pain where he cannot sit down or hold our baby without extreme pain where he’s basically crying. And he can’t get a pain injection until Thursday.
Wtf man. And my palms have felt itchy since the moment I realized BabyO had HFM. 😩😩😩

DD1's special ed teacher emailed ahead of our next meeting that she's seen enough to add on math services- we started this year with "we need more data and observations." In the words of Dave Wasserman, she's seen enough! Phew!
