I think the thing that annoys me about the Fetterman dress code thing is people are rallying behind his decision but God forbid it had been anyone but a laidback white man who shook it up. I mean, progress is progress I guess but just once again hammers home how dress codes are inherently racist and sexist and only change when men decide it is ok.

I’m ignoring the whole thing honestly because it just annoys me. I couldn’t quite figure out why because I love a good fight against a dress code but I think you just put into words why it is bugging me. Like wearing shorts is not the same as wearing natural hair or being able to bear shoulders as a female.

Agreed, and plus also it's all performative nonsense because the government is going to be shutting down and what the heck does that have to do with dress codes!?! but trying to find levity where I can.

What is Chuck doing??? 'Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) invoked a parliamentary maneuver Wednesday in a bid to advance three senior-level military nominees whose promotions have long been stalled in the Senate due because of opposition by Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), who has for months protested an abortion policy at the Pentagon. Speaking on the House floor Wednesday, Schumer said he would request unanimous consent to hold a vote on the three key Pentagon nominations Wednesday afternoon. If Tuberville or another senator objects, Schumer threatened to keep lawmakers in the Senate over the weekend while he proceeds to force votes under the chamber’s cloture rules.' Senate seeks to move on three key military nominations despite Tuberville delays www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/09/20/senate-military-schumer-tuberville/

Hochul signed a law today that allows early mail in voting for NYS. The state GOP immediately filed a lawsuit stating it's unconstitutional 🙄 Please, tell us how much you don't want people to vote a little more.

Tommy had held things up for months and it's causing problems. I do worry how it will come back to bite us in the ass later, though.

Home now after a 4.5 hour district meeting. 😵💫 There were a few riled up residents, some yelling, and one man crying.
Today I am feeling particularly empathetic to the challenges our representatives face in government, making difficult and sometimes unpopular decisions on behalf of constituents, while people are watching you and criticizing your actions.

This is interesting, I wonder if anything more juicy than financial ruin will come about. They, or people I assume associate with them, were just at the school board meeting doing the same repetitive speech one after another about gender affirming care and parents rights as concerned citizens.

Re: project veritas they'd been in some expensive litigation for awhile and I can see that alone being enough to bankrupt them if they didn't have a big donor keeping them afloat.

Re: project veritas they'd been in some expensive litigation for awhile and I can see that alone being enough to bankrupt them if they didn't have a big donor keeping them afloat. Would preemptively declaring bankruptcy allow them to avoid a big payout? I could see them doing that and then instantly reorganizing under a brand new name/tax id, etc.

Rupert is stepping down and his son is taking over Fox.
I thought the son was doing most of the actual running of the business already, so I guess now it's official.
ETA: I wonder how the other son feels about it. I know he thinks differently than his dad and brother (if reports about it are to be believed).

Secretary Pete competed in the Ironman 70.3 triathlon over the weekend. I am just tired thinking of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run - let alone actually doing it
