DS16 just walked in with a borrowed skateboard (he hasn’t ever ridden one). H volunteered to show him how to do it because he skateboarded in the late 80’s and has never broken a bone.
So I predict a double ER visit tonight. 🤦🏻♀️

After 1.5 hours on the phone and 6 pharmacies (and multiple locations within chains) I found one that had DS13’s ADHD meds in stock at a mom & pop pharmacy at double our normal price. I am dreading doing this again in 30 days. I hate this for you and everyone trying to get these ADHD meds!

We finally heard back from the psychiatrist, hallelujah!!
They tried to send DD home again today because the nurse wasn't there. And then I got an email from the teacher that made it sound like she was waiting at the school for me when she should have been at Rec, and there was about 20 minutes where we had no idea where she was or if she had been waiting all day in the office for me to come get her. So that was fun.

The pharmacist let me know that the manufacturer has started rationing out the medication when it does come back in stock so there’s no guarantee that a) it will be available at all and b) if it is that the pharmacy will get a sufficient amount to fill their regular orders let alone the parents scrambling for leftovers. I have the luxury of a very flexible desk job that allows me to call pharmacies and coordinate with my pediatrician’s office and disposable income that allows us to bridge unexpected costs. If I didn’t have both there would be no way through this for us. My heart breaks for all the kiddos who are suffering through this b

So Monday night I fell down my stairs and fractured at least 4 bones in my foot. The PA at the ortho clinic said its the same kind of break people used to get falling out of stirrups. I'm in a boot for 6-8 weeks, with at least the next 2 on crutches. I just wanted to whine a bit. I miss you all my new job doesnt really allow for being here or listening to cspan all day

Sorry but can I just vent about how much it sucks having to start paying student loans again! I'm especially bitter because under the proposed relief that failed all of my loans would have been forgiven. As if things weren't already rough with all the rising prices of everything. I'm really feeling the pinch! That really sucks and I am so sorry.

Minerva, Nota🎃, and everyone else, I really hope they come through with student loan relief for you. We finally got my husbands loan discharge paperwork this week. He was part of the borrowers defense lawsuit and we were notified in February that he was part of the accepted class, but it took until now for it to actually happen. We're supposed to get refunded for any payments made, so we're still waiting for that.

byjove, you’ve dealt with so much bs from that school. The house across the street from me is going up for sale and the SpEd and counseling folks at our ES are great. Just saying. (Though your neighborhood is way more fun than mine!)

I am dreading doing this again in 30 days. I hate that, especially when a pharmacy will have 28 and not 30. I ended up finding our Costco to be the best one to get ours filled, not sure if they are an option for you. I also reach out with about a week left, because calling around to already short staffed pharmacies is on my list of my least favorite things. Then getting the overwhelmed nurses at the pediatrician’s office to send it to the exact right pharmacy that isn’t the one on file. 😩

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry about my day at this point.
Started at 6;15 this morning when I let both dogs into the backyard followed less than a minute later with DS shrieking that something got Eva, he could hear the commotion from his bedroom window but didn’t see anything. Dog comes limping to the door. We check her all over, see no obvious wounds and decide she must have twisted her knee, ankle, shoulder, whatever, and decide to just keep an eye on her. But her whole posture just looked “wrong” for lack of a better word. I took DS to school, get back at 7:45. By then I could tell something was really wrong. She felt cold to the touch, she looked “crooked” her back was hunched up and she was just out of it. I checked her gums, they were pale and took her temp, which was low by several degrees, all sign she was going into shock. Our vet says take her to the emergency hospital immeditately. By now I notice 2 tiny bite marks near her eye. Takes 30 min to get to the animal hospital. By then, she has a huge fluid mass gathering on her chest. Vet discovers she actually has two sets of tiny bite marks on her face as well is one inside her lip. Vet says she isn’t limping so much as she is just wobbly on all 4 feet. Vets first instinct was a snake bite. We have one venomous snake in SE Michigan but they are rare, not aggressive and we live at the top of a hill and this snake like low wetlands. It would be really weird (I’ve seen garter snakes 2-3 times in the 18 years we’ve lived here but never any sign of a Massasauga) but all the signs are consistent with snake bite.
I settle in while they start a bunch of testing and start calling around to locate anti venom. (It’s rare enough in our area that anti-venom is not really on hand anywhere.)
I get a call from a number I don’t recognize. I answer and the woman explains my DH gave her my number. She is a former co-worker who is dating one of DH’s current co-workers and my DH told her it would be ok to call and ask questions about my mastectomy. (I have no idea how DH forgot to give me a heads-up, that’s another discussion.). She is very clearly distraught and sounds like she was crying so I realize I can’t just push her off until later, so ok, we’re going to talk about it right now in the vet’s waiting room. I come to find out that she has already had a single mastectomy and she is really not ok emotionally with everything that happened to her. She has lots of anxiety about cancer returning as well as disappointment in how her reconstruction turned out. She feels like a disfigured freak. So we talk for a long time about all of the changes, the healing process, dealing with uncertainty, etc. I cannot believe I talked as openly and as long as I did about the shape of my boobs in a crowded lobby. The size, the shape, how they feel, how my husband thinks they feel. How they feel like public property these days because so many doctors have touched them in the last year. I thoroughly enjoyed the look on the receptionists face when I offered to let this stranger come over to my house to see my boobs. (This woman was agonizing over whether she should have gone with a double mastectomy so at least hers would look the same. I offered to show her my plastic surgeons work in case she wanted a second opinion/revision). Truly a weird morning.
Around 1pm, I end up leaving my dog at the vet overnight for observation. An hour later the vet calls with an update. All the blood work comes back indicating NOT a snake bite. As a matter of fact, the bloodwork looks just fine. BUT, further X-rays show a pneumothorax. So my dog was bit by something very small but maybe also kicked by something the size of a deer that would cause blunt force trauma to the chest. No fucking clue what happened to her in our yard in the span of about 90 seconds in the dark. But she has been getting IV fluids all day and her vitals are returning to normal.
Everything will be fine, but man, what the fuck happened today?

4speedy what a rollercoaster of a day. Glad the dog is on the mend, what a bizarre situation. I also love that you had that conversation openly and that you are helping her. It can’t have been easy for her to make that call.
