Nope, I'm a mess. MH's birthday is also 4 days after Xmas and I've basically just bought him pajamas and I have no other ideas
Our tree is finally "up", but I need to fluff it and put on lights. My parents are coming this weekend and MH hadn't been home in 2 weeks so I have a lot to do but very little help. MH will probably roll in at the same time as my parents. Fortunately my toe hurts a little less today so I'm going to try and fluff the tree after the kids are in bed

I have no holiday spirit this year. Haven't for the last couple. I need to find something to make my Grinchy heart grow.

I thought the last gift for H arrived today, but I opened it and it's the wrong calendar, so I had to talk to the website (thank goodness for the chat feature and not making me talk on the phone!) I am sure that the Islanders are a great hockey team, but we are a midwest football family, and Patrick Mahomes is the calendar of choice.
Also, DS is home with a monster cough. Luckily no fever or anything, just a cough that doesn't let up. And I just got a notification from DDs school that there is a case of HFM somewhere at the school. Sooo, not great.

I'm done shopping, but I still have things that need to arrive and a whole lot of wrapping to do. My holiday cheer is very "bah humbug" and "not great, Bob". I'm blaming it on the relentless bouts of cold bugs and flu that have been going through my house for the past two months, bringing with it ear infections, pink eye, and sinus infections.
I'm just done. Dd2 has the flu right now and I'm crossing everything this is the last round for the year and most of next year. I'm hoping all the hopes we get through all the various family holiday festivities unscathed. Yes, I'm already looking forward to '23. Please, gods, no more sickness.

I lack motivation. I'm pretty well done with shopping, but I haven't wrapped anything. The tree's been up and decorated, but none of the other decor is up. I've got a significant amount of work so that I can hit my quota before I take time off for the holidays.

I have a naked tree in my living room, a pile of Amazon envelopes and cardboard boxes in the garage and very little motivation to rectify either situation. Like enchanted I'm just not feeling really holly fucking jolly this year. I'm off work next Friday and am planning on telling no one, leaving my house as usual, getting a 90 minute massage and body scrub followed by a pumpkin facial and then checking into my parents hotel room early and napping for the remainder of the day. Merry Christmas to me.

Take care of yourself whenever and however you can!

I'm done shopping. A lot of wrapping has to wait a couple more days because my little cherubs like to help. (It would be so much easier to just do it myself but it's very cute that they all want to do a nice thing for the siblings they are usually trying to clobber). Our decorations have been up for awhile, the sticking thing is putting the bins back in the attic until January.

We brought all the gifts over to my parents yesterday (they just live across the alley from us, so it's an easy wagon roll) and in two hours my parents and I wrapped ALLLLLLL my daughters gifts from us and Santa. So, I only have my husbands left to wrap.

I’ll hop aboard the humbug train. I’d be doing nothing if it weren’t for my 10yo. I think I’m done with shopping except we’re probably getting the kid an iPad, but I’m going to ask H to handle that. Now I have wrap and mail gifts. We are going nowhere and seeing no one, which I am happy about. I’m hoping to take a long hike in the redwoods at some point with the fam. And I have a massage scheduled for this weekend. I mostly just want to hibernate.

I still have some shopping to do, I need gifts for my mom and DH, and a couple of my nephews. Plus my girls gave the elf an updated list for Santa so I need to see if any of those things are possible.
I'm not a huge fan of Christmas being on the weekend. I usually make all my cookies and stuff the weekend before but a week ahead is too long.

My 4 year old has been begging for a stupid elf all season so I caved and bought one today. I'm going to have it show up over night. I'm at working now printing out the intro letter and adoption papers. I hate myself right now.

Left a Hershey kiss or similar if kids did something extra nice and not bratty Craziest things 1 time fishing in the fish tank, occassionally swinging from the ceiling fan or sleeping in the kleenex box. Usually just hiding in with toys pretending to be a toy

The 9year old who still believes said it was creepy, and the 5 year old looked at it and just said, “No.” Sorry ILs.

I'm at working now printing out the intro letter and adoption papers. I hate myself right now. I’ve been doing Elf stuff for 5 years and have lots of really easy ideas if you’d like some. Our tree is still naked and last night Clancy put up 2 ornaments and then got stuck in the ornament box. The kid loved it. The other day she was reading The Gift of the Magi to a collection of stuffies. It’s as simple or complex as you want it to be. I love doing it because my daughter gets so excited to see what she’s up to each morning. We also break all of the elf rules and she doesn’t report behavior and my daughter can touch her and sleeps with her most nights.

Does anyone have a recommendation for nut free, gluten free deliverable treats? I need something for my cousin’s family and am drawing a blank. She sent us Baked by Melissa mini cupcakes this week and I want to reciprocate, but I don’t have much experience navigating GF, nut-free food and don’t want to send anything that she or one of her children (16, 14, 10 yo) won’t be able to eat!

Add me to the "hanging in there" crowd. Both my girls are really missing their AZ life and my mom (who is still there). Things don't fit the same way as in our AZ house, and I think we're just at the point that the changes from our move aren't novel or new. They are both so sad right now. I'm trying my damnedest to make this a merry time. But oof, humbug indeed.

I’m struggling a bit with gift giving for the kids. They are in a transition of toys to older elementary interests and it’s hard to think of ideas for them. We’ve also had some illness in the house and that has been a lot. Usually I bake more but with the respiratory coughs and keeping up with all that, I haven’t felt like making food to share.
Snow always helps and we’ve had a lot so far. I’m hoping I can just enjoy the time with them starting Friday when they are home for two weeks.

Would gourmet rice crispy treats that are gluten free and nut free work? My H's work just sent him some from treathouse.com and they're delicious.

Can you maybe plan a special FaceTime session with your mom? I hope your new place starts to feel more like home soon.

It’s so nice to read about others feeling bah about the holidays and not feel alone.
It’s a mix of PPD/A (no worries- I’m in therapy and on meds, just acknowledging it is half the battle right?) lots of lack of sleep, a 5yo who is lashing out about a baby, a baby who cries a LOT in the late evening hours, having a terrible communication spell with my H, and missing my parents and sister terribly.
We did an early Xmas celebration TG weekend with my parents and sister when they visited, but we also don’t really get N a lot of gifts bc he has so many toys already and his grandparents get him too much shit. And were focusing on saving $ since we’ve been doing a lot of upgrades to the house since we moved in and I’m extending my maternity leave but it’ll be unpaid, so I’m trying to cancel out the missing paycheck.
And DH hates the holidays anyway so Xmas isn’t exciting for me anymore. Oh and N (whose FIVE) told me they Santa isn’t real and he was dead serious. I was like, wait what? So there goes the one aspect of Xmas I was excited to celebrate (since we’re not religious). Welp.

Minerva, our old city has a great GF bakery and they ship. Benefit Your Life in Knoxville, TN. It’s one of the few GF bakeries that we’ve tried that the non-GF family members will happily eat too.

Also struggling to get in the spirit this year. I’m recovering from my hysterectomy. The anniversary of my MIL’s passing is this weekend. And thanks to several unplanned expenses, I’m not done shopping.
I’m planning to wear out Amazon when the kids go to school. Maybe I’ll make MH or DD1 do some Target curbside pickups too.

I'm just feeling overwhelmed with too many demands on my time and too much to do. All the Christmas stuff just feels like extra work. Dh says he is getting a computer for ds1. My bet is on a Christmas eve shopping trip. I have all the rest of the gifts on my plate. I asked for a night away at a hotel for Christmas. I haven't been away from the kids overnight since 2019.

Sending huge hugs to everyone struggling this season. I'm on that train too but can't really articulate why I'm so blah. Everything feels like a massive chore and it's all stuff i normally enjoy. I've barely purchased anything for the kids gifts and have no ideas. Every year I make calendars for my family and H's family and the kids and him. It felt like such a hassle and was just not fun. While it's tedious, I usually enjoy the process somewhat. This year I'm just crabby. I need to figure it out and turn it around so that I can enjoy the holiday season somewhat. I really just want to curl up under a blanket and read.
