I’m starting to get nervous about the NY Gov race. The gap between Hochul and Zeldin is getting smaller in latest polls. I'm starting to hyperventilate over Wisconsin's senate race. Well and the race for governor too, I guess.

'Former president Donald Trump’s company charged the Secret Service as much as five times more than the government rate for agents to stay overnight at Trump hotels while protecting him and his family, according to expense records newly obtained by Congress. The records show that in 40 cases the Trump Organization billed the Secret Service far higher amounts than the approved government rate — in one case charging agents $1,185 a night to stay at the Trump International Hotel in D.C. The new billing documents, according to a congressional committee’s review, show that U.S. taxpayers paid the president’s company at least $1.4 million for Secret Service agents’ stays at Trump properties for his and his family’s protection.' Trump charged Secret Service ‘exorbitant’ rates at his hotels, records show www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2022/10/17/trump-secret-service-hotel-rates-records/I know in the broad scheme of things this is a pretty low priority, but how did this just slide? As federal contractors, my boss has to be very careful with how much we quote and invoice our federal clients. He said we could get in major trouble if we are found to be overcharging.

This is why polling sucks. People think their votes aren't important based on what sometimes are SMALL samples. Not to mention intentionally skewed results, biased questions, etc

'The Internal Revenue Service will allow Americans to shield more of their income from taxes in 2023 because of higher inflation, the agency announced Tuesday, raising income thresholds for all tax brackets and increasing the standard deduction...The standard deduction — the baseline amount of income that filers can collect tax free — will increase to $13,850 for individuals and $27,700 for married couples. It is the largest adjustment to deductions since 1985, when the IRS began annual automatic inflationary adjustments.' You can keep more money from the IRS next year, thanks to inflation www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2022/10/18/irs-deductions-brackets-inflation/

Super 🙄. DS1 has already had a run in with kids using the term gay as slang/slurs so not educating them in school will just make that worse 😡

I know that bill won't get signed, even if it were to pass the House and Senate, as long as Joe is POTUS, so that's at least something for the next couple of years, but I also know these bigots don't give up, so I really need everyone to take elections seriously from now on, no matter how "small" the office is.
***I know everyone here knows/feels this. I'm just venting here because I hate everything right now.

Super 🙄. DS1 has already had a run in with kids using the term gay as slang/slurs so not educating them in school will just make that worse 😡 DD is dealing with a boy in her class (5th grade) who is using it at a slur and she tried saying something to him, which made him make fun of her. She said something to her teacher and the teacher didn't have much to say. They both got fussed at for talking
