Tired is right. I made it to work at least so my car survived the oil change. Guess that's good news.
C got his first big boy bath last night. I just wanted to try it out and he did well and seemed to enjoy it. I'm having a lot of feels about putting away more of his baby things though. The boppy is mostly just taking up space too.

We were up once an hour last night. He just cut his 2nd tooth and I can see that both of the top ones are close to cutting as well. Even with Tylenol the poor kid is a mess. I also feel like I'm starving to death and it's only 8am.

I really don't know why I'm exhausted. I feel like I could sleep 8 more hours. J was up at 6:15 which isn't unusual.
It's gray, gloomy, and cold here so I'm sure that is contributing to it.

I'm so sick of my coworkers telling me what I want in my dream home.
CW-You're building a ranch, right? Me-No CW-Oh really? But you're putting the master on the first floor? Me-No. CW-I thought you wanted a master on the first floor? Me-Nope, I never said that. You guys are the ones who keep talking about it. CW-You're too young now to realize it but you're going to want one when you're older. Me-*rolls eyes*

jubilantsquirrel I woke up starving today too. What's for lunch? waitwhat It felt like fall yesterday here. Definitely contributes to wanting to crawl into bed.

goldenlove I hate, hate, HATE having a first floor master What do you not like about it? I'm sure they work for some people but I'm just not interested. I already have enough must haves on my first floor, I don't need to add a master suite.

waitwhat, I'm jealous of your weather right now, believe it or not. We never got our rainy day last week and all this warm weather and sunshine is starting to make me cranky. I just need one cold, rainy day to reset and then it can go back to being warm and sunny again. goldenlove, I'm debating between chicken pad thai and the burger food truck that's coming today. Pad thai sounds really good, but so do fries.

Sorry you didn't get your rainy day. And fries always win!

goldenlove I wouldn't want a first floor master either. I like being on the same floor as my kids.

I've never had a first floor master, but I don't think I would like it. I feel like it would kind of render the upstairs useless, especially after kids move out.
I look at so many houses online all the time I have my dream layout in my head. And also on my phone because I Google image search everything and save all my favorite things. I should probably get Pinterest.

Once you're old and don't want to use stairs, you can just live on the first floor. Or they like to mention my parents when they get older. Like can I just live in the moment and build what I actually need for the next 20 years first?

I already have enough must haves on my first floor, I don't need to add a master suite. Ok so maybe I'm not that passionate in my dislike lol, but I wouldn't choose to have one if we had a choice. 1) there's a bedroom above us and you can hear everything going on when there's someone using it. This will be a child's bedroom one day so I imagine it's going to get pretty annoying once it's used everyday 2) you can hear everything going on in the rest of the downstairs. So even if H takes M for an hour or two Sunday mornings it's pretty useless. 3) being separated from the rest of the bedrooms. Maybe the privacy will be nice one day, but not for a long time. Even when M was in the crib we had it downstairs because the thought of her being alone up there all night freaked me out and having to go up and down the flight of steps one million times a night is not something I want to be doing. We've also missed a few maintenance issues because we're not spending the time up there that we would be had our bedroom be up there.

But yeah, I would only be thinking about what I want from a house now, not 40 years from now. I would want a main floor guest room though. And a den so I can have a craft room. I much prefer open concept/great room layout, so I have no use for formal living and dining rooms and would rather use that space for a rooms that will actually get used. I also want a bonus room.

:::waves:::
I've been love titting like a maniac but sitting and putting together a post has proven difficult. Anywho, Sunday with both kids went so well, B was super helpful and I'm scared to say it but I think we're turning a corner in the awful age of 3. I've been really conscious about how I speak to him, discipline him and make sure to spend time with him and he is doing way better.
I've been so productive this morning and it's only 10am. I've been selling a bunch of stuff that we have around the house that we don't use, it feels freeing and cash in hand is AWESOME. So far I'm up to $1180, so amazing!
I'm off to Home Depot again this morning, I've got to but some more edging that I'm going to use for a rock garden. MH is so close to coming home that I might put this project on his to do list. We'll see.

I'm very torn on what house I LOVE, it's a huge part of why we didn't build a few years ago.
We have a bi level right now where the kids bedrooms are on the main floor and our bedroom is above the garage. I love this layout for now, especially solo parenting a lot of the time, everything is accessible. We have a completely finished basement with the full size windows and a guest room/full bathroom.
As the kids get older it'll be hard because the rooms are a bit small, but one of them could move downstairs and the other kid could have the two rooms upstairs if they want. After a lot of wavering we decided to stay here at least until J is 6, B will be 9, and we'll see where we are at.
One thing I do know is that I do not want to be house poor, we want to be able to take vacations and allow the kids to have and be a part of whatever they want and having a bigger mortgage just for them to have a bigger bedroom not sure makes sense.
Our retirement plan, depending on where the kids are, is to sell the house buy a condo downtown in our city and a condo in Nice, France.
Whoa...I've got house feels today 😐

We have a website called kijiji, it's like craigslist for you guys I think. I've also used Letgo, but it was hard managing 2 places to sell stuff and i've been having success with kijiji.

It's fine for guests, but they don't often have guests.

vino, I wish I could get MH to sell things. He thinks it's too much work so instead we donate everything, which fine but there are some things we've donated that I know we could get some good money for. Re: houses. I've been planting the seed in MH's brain that we need to move. Our house is on the smaller side and I don't love the flow. But if we want something bigger we're going to have to pay more than double what we bought our house for or move to a different area. I'm not against moving to a different area, but we'd have to go like 50 miles south to make it work. So, I think we're stuck for a while. Seattle is expensive AF.

SILis babysitting the boys for a few hours this afternoon (we are starting trying to get H used to being away from me), so I'm just sitting here pumping.
Re houses. We are hoping to move in 2-3 years. We are just startimg year 3 of our 5-year fixed rate, so the timing works out plan-wise. We need something bigger. Not massive or anything, but as it stands the boys rooms are WAY too small (like they are good for a toddler bed, but once we get into regular sized beds and a dresser, there is zero room for anything else). Plus their play room is tiny. Again, ok for toddlers, but once they get a little bigger, they will need more room to play and have friends over. Luckily for us, our house (though smallish) has great resale value because of location (less than 5 minutes from the mall, hospital, and university). We could move to the edge of the city, or just outside the city, and get a bigger/better house for a similar price. And for us, moving outside the city is not a big deal at all (we'd actually prefer it).
