I enjoyed the first two episodes. I’m curious to see how it goes.
I do not like young Elrond because his face reminds me of Dr. Oz.

I'm withholding judgement atm. I am unsure how I feel. I'm going to give it awhile longer though.

Random thoughts and things:
I think the elf-human love story is weak. Why does there always have to be a love story forced into it?
I enjoyed seeing lady dwarves and more of their civilization. Although there was one too many up close shots of dwarf noses during the stone breaking competition.
I guess there’s not suppose to be hobbits in this story? But it’s fun seeing them.
Is meteor man Gandalf?

Is meteor man Gandalf? H and I were wondering about the dude too. He's leaning more towards Sauron since his magic killed all the fireflies. As for the Harfoots, people just like to complain. Tolkien never really wrote the full context of how the rings were forged, so no harm in including them.

But then he gave me Gandalf vibes and mh said something about the wizards coming from the stars? And maybe this is why Gandalf is so fond of hobbits later on?

But the 5 wizards are all supposed to come at once, so where are the other 4 if it is him?

I am also leaning toward Gandalf. I think they are playing fast and loose with lore because (AFAIK) they don't have the rights to The Silmarillion. So if Gandalf's arrival doesn't mirror what it's supposed to be, that may be why. Also as a general note to myself I really need to stop playing Breath of the Wild while watching this and House of Dragons because it's easy to get lost fast LOL

Episode 3 was good. I'm definitely more on the Gandalf wagon now. Nice that he's helping the Brandyfoots so they don't get left behind. H thought for a society that's all about staying together and not leaving anyone behind, they're kind of sucky with how they were treating Nori and her family at the end.
It's interesting to see Numenor. And Isildur! The whole "hatred of elves" is getting kind of old though.
As for the poor archer elf. I feel bad that his entire company got killed. I figured they would, but I was hoping he'd get away.

I’m really loving the show so far. I think the meteor wizard is Gandalf. I have no further opinions at the moment. I am very tired and can’t think straight. 😂

Omg. How did no one check the package until they passed it off to a kid who admitted he was addicted to power?! What elvish incompetence.

The geologist in me can't accept them being hit by a pyroclastic flow and walking away. That is not a thing.
But they also would not have caused such a violent eruption by adding what to a depressurized chamber like that.
I guess real world science can't really apply here.

I was laughing at the end of the episode. Thank you for writing out Mordor in case no one picked up on that yet 😂

The story is starting to diverge a lot now, yes? Or maybe doing things super out of order. I’m a casual LotR fan, Mh is the super nerd. I’m enjoying it though. I thought it was a good episode. Wrapped some stuff up but also I want more.

I think I had the same epiphany regarding Halbrand at the same time in the show. I really didn't want the nice stranger hanging with the Harfoots to be Sauron, so I'm glad he's Gandalf. Now where are the other 4?

Wrapped some stuff up but also I want more. They don't have rights to a lot of the true original source material, and there's not actually a lot written about the Second Age. But they are taking a lot of liberties. I'm assuming Celebrimbor will be making the dwarven rings next season. And eventually Celeborn has to come back. I love that they've given Gandalf a reason to love the hobbits though. It was definitely a good episode, but a lot of open questions. Like what has actually happened to Isildur? What will happen to the Southlanders now? They believe Sauron to be their king, so when he shows up, what's going to happen? When does Numenor sink? And what happens when the Queen Regent becomes just the Queen?

athn64 of all the people on and off screen I suspected were Sauron, Halbrand had never crossed my mind but as soon as they went from Gandalf-Sauron to Halbrand recovering I was 🤯 so that was a good twist. I’m not usually surprised with shows so it was a nice change.

And Galadriel now has to kick herself because she saved his life.
