Also our recent experience. Pretty sure my toddler's COVID came from sitting 50 MINUTES in the waiting room at the pediatrician last Friday, then he had a light but persistent cough on Sunday pm (negative test), faint positive Monday morning That absolutely infuriates me. It's also killing my will to "tighten up" any of our own activities. Both times COVID has come into our house have been unavoidable activities (school), not something fun or social. Oh that's so weird. I didn't think schools were a major source of transmission /s

Both times it came to our house was from school infections. Eta but school was also the only real exposure most of us had to others.

My kids cleared the 'vid! They both tested negative on rapids this morning, and Mh and I have somehow stayed negative this whole time. Little one is still out of daycare through Thursday though, bc he won't keep a mask on. Send help

I think we're done with this round of COVID at our house. The kids are back at daycare and they just have to make it through this one week for us to be able to go on vacation. I'm glad they didn't get it, but also we've now done this three times where only one person in the family had it, and there's never been any period of time we've felt like we can just not worry about it even for a little bit because we've all just had it. I don't know if we're doing this right. ðŸ˜

Also, I can't find my vaccine card. I've never had to use it because I've never done anything fun that required it but now I need it to travel to Canada. I can download and print out a record of my shots from MyChart -- is that enough?

I think then you upload a photo of your records.

I did do that already but I think you're supposed to also bring a paper copy? Yes you’re right. It looks like the mychart print out would work. I would be anxious too though. I always bring everything when I go to Canada, birth certificates, marriage license (why? I don’t know) but they’re usually pretty chill at the border.

We went the summer before covid and I brought birth certificates and expired passports for our DDs and I was surprised they actually wanted the expired passports over the BCs. We were like sweating bullets (for no reason) and the agent was chill. lol. I bet a lot of people are like that. Dozens of us?

The state has some COVID vaccine registration/record thing so I requested a copy, in case that seems more official. I can't even begin to guess where my card might be. Oops.

piratecat I live an hour from the border, birth certificates are totally fine for the kids and all you need. Do you have a safe? My 17 yo couldn’t find his vax card once and it was safely in his dads… safe.

We got the girls boosters today since school starts 2 weeks from tomorrow. I'll be interested to see if they have any side effects this time, especially my youngest since she had covid in May.
We did it at the pediatrician this time rather than Walgreens and it went a lot better. Plus they were able to do it in my 6 year olds leg which is better since she's so small (30 pounds).
I was disappointed to find out that the medical building is now masks optional though. I told the girls we will still be wearing them at the doctor no matter what.

We kept the kids' cards in a very visible spot and there was only one place I thought mine would be and it isn't. And thank you all for confirming that I don't have to abandon my kids at the border.

I thought there were still federal guidelines for masks in healthcare facilities. That's what we were told for DD2's allergist appointment last week. We would have masked regardless.

I honestly don't know. If there is then there a quite a lot of facilities in Iowa that aren't following the guidelines. Knowing our governor she probably made it illegal to require them 🙄

Our hospitals started peeling back their requirements in March and April. I had missed that memo and got the lovely experience of being there for day 1 in two different hospital systems. Good times.

I'm on a BMB with a primary care doctor in MI and they are going mask optional. She was told to think about all of the patients they impact negatively by wearing a mask. I was about ready to go to the mattresses on her behalf.

I'm not sure if they kept it that way though now that cases are going back up.

I get that people hate masks, blah blah blah, but medical facilities should be a given for masking. The majority of people are there because they are sick. Who wants to be exposed to every random thing floating around a doctors office? I will never set foot into another Dr office without a mask.

I need to look at DC’s new school’s Covid policies, but I’m afraid. I want DC to wear a mask, but not be the only kid wearing one. They were fine wearing one in summer camp but everyone was required to do so.

The school is at least still doing the weekly testing, but all other mitigations are gone. DD2 is okay being the only one masked. It makes her feel safer. But after DD1 got picked on last year, she's a lot more reluctant to keep it on.

DS got his second vaccine yesterday! Of course he had a sore arm in the evening but whatever.
But then he woke up at 4am saying his head hurt, his tummy hurt, he felt like throwing up. He was burning up , so he got Tylenol. I am exhausted, working 12h today. He had baby spit ups, no actual puke at least, and his fever was gone by 6:30 when I left for work.
He kept saying ITS THE STUPID SHOT THAT MADE ME SICK AND I HATE THE DOCTORS. So I chuckle and DH says hey it was a nurse that gave it to you so blame them not the dr! So now he keeps yelling I HATE THE NURSES WHO DID THIS TO ME. Except now I won’t get sick and die from the virus (bc he is still adamant that he didn’t have it when we all did). And DH laughs and I’m like asshole!
*reminder DH is a doctor and I’m a nurse so we just rib each other and laugh when DS says this shit.
