We've been watching Shogun on Hulu, and it's really good! My husband and I are really enjoying this too! The beautiful scenery, sets & costumes combined with history and Japanese customs make it so interesting. The acting is quite good too. I also learned it based on a very popular book/real life person.

Has anyone watched Hightown? I guess because it's the final season I'm getting non stop ads for it. It was never on my radar before. Was thinking of giving it a try.

We haven't started season 3 yet but we watched the first two seasons. We enjoy it, Monica Raymund is great. I grew up on Cape Cod so watching was a no-brainer for me. Lost my mind when I saw they filmed a season 2 scene on one of the actual bridges. ETA: should mention there is a lot of drug use/drinking on the show, and it is very adult.

I’ve been watching The New Look on Apple+. The reviews have been mixed, but I’m glad I gave it a chance. I think it’s so interesting. It follows the lives of Christian Dior and Coco Chanel during the Nazi occupation of Paris. Juliette Binoche, love her, plays Chanel. She does an amazing job showing her sense of entitlement and self-centeredness and how it led to her entanglement with the Nazis. Her casual anti-Semitism. I worried it might be apologetic toward her, but I don’t see it that way. The most interesting and valuable part is the story of Christian Dior’s much younger sister, who is swept up with the French resistance and sent to Ravensbruck. (Not a spoiler.) www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna138868

We’ve been watching Manhunt on Apple TV+ (about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth after Lincoln’s assassination). I think it’s really interesting so far (I think it’s 3 or 4 episodes in and released weekly). Tobias Menzies is so good. I never got far enough into Outlander to have negative associations with him, but I remember that conversation from when he was on The Crown.
The guy who plays John Wilkes Booth is excellent, and apparently also in Masters of the Air on TV+ (I haven’t watched that, but MH said it’s good).

Just finished The Gentlemen on Netflix. I LOVED it! Funny, fast paced, amazing cast, absolutely cannot wait for a season 2. It’s like British Breaking Bad with a sense of humor.

Fallout on Amazon Prime is really fun. Post apocalyptic but campy and not too dark. It’s based on a video game.

Enjoyable if you know nothing about the game but even better with lots of little Easter eggs if you've played. I binged the whole season over a weekend and loved it. So many great actors in it as well.

Is anyone watching Not Dead Yet? It's loosely inspired by the book Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up. H & I are enjoying it as a 20 minutes sitcom in the middle of the week.

I watch it and *sorta* enjoy it. I def. liked season 1 better than 2, and now I still put it on when it's on my DVR, but find myself zoning out and not paying attention and also not caring that I missed basically the entire episode lately. I think it outlived its interestingness in its original storyline, but unfortunately has nowhere else to go.

Definitely this, 2024, year) and then we binged the first season and I think it was 3 episodes into season 2 at the time, and I agree that it was better. I say loosely based on the book in that her name is Nell, she’s a writer of obituaries, has a roommate named Edward, and is recently out of a relationship that ended on her terms. I’m upset at what they did to Cricket, she was THE BEST in the book, but over all? It’s mindless sitcom.

Baby Reindeer, anyone? I think I’m on episode 5. I binged it yesterday and I absolutely loved it. It’s so raw and all the more powerful that writer is the lead actor.

I thought it was really well-done (in an intentionally painful to watch sort of way), but I wanted more info. at the end. I won't spoil anything for those still watching, but I've tried googling to get more info., but even though Richard Gadd (the actor who plays Donny who the true story actually happened to) is a real person and comedian who speaks publicly about his experience, he also seems private and has protected the privacy of his stalker (which is understandable, I don't want/need to know who she actually is), but I've been unable to find the answers to the questions I'm left asking, which is frustrating.

Anyone watching Under the Bridge on Hulu? I started it today, but then realized after the first 2 episodes it's only dropping 1 episode a week and now I'm annoyed because I want more.

This sucks. I stayed up late and finished last night. Was going to start my deep dive lol.

Funny side story- on 4/20 I thought H was talking about The Witcher (that he had been watching) but he was actually talking about Baby Reindeer. He’s like, it’s just so crazy that the lead actor on here also wrote this. Oh really? Huh. Yeah, I think he might have actually directed it too. What? No way. Maybe directed an episode; not the whole series. That would be near impossible. Well, it’s based off his true story. The Witcher??? What?? No!
I laughed for so long.

It's worth finishing it if you can though. Only 7 episodes and a couple are only 30 minutes. I was blown away to learn that not only is it based on true events but that the actor playing Donny is the actual stalking victim.

I stumbled onto a show called School Spirits on Netflix this weekend and I'm loving it. It's about a girl who was killed at her high school, and her ghost joins other spirits that were killed in the same location and haven't 'moved on' yet as she tries to figure out what happened to her.

For anyone who likes adventure stories (and can suspend disbelief for magical elements) I highly highly recommend Renegade Nell on Disney+. One of the best series I've binged in recent months.
