I took DD to the library this morning where they did a bunch of science demonstrations. She actually got chosen to help with one. She did it which surprised me because she is normally very shy. Then we had lunch with my sister. We need to be home packing. We are going on vacation Friday.

So yesterday DS briefly mentioned that they said there was going to be no camp on Friday. Since his communication is still kind of iffy, I asked this morning & sure enough, it's true. It's kind of annoying because there was no mention of this. At the beginning of camp, the only day off listed was 4th of July. I can't help but think they added this last minute so they can give themselves a day off after this field trip tomorrow. Like, good thing I have no life & him staying home is no problem. What about other parents that don't have that luxury? The director of the program said something was going to be coming home today about it. I'm curious how they phrase it. Not even a 2 day notice. That's pretty messed up.

Lo & behold, nothing "came home" with him. Shocking. The group leader just mentioned that there was no camp on Friday. I'm pissed because they go swimming on Fridays so that's another week that he misses out on. Even if he didn't miss things due to other camps, there was that one week that they went & turned around because of the weather so they were already one week short. This makes twice. I didn't get the chance to ask why because DS was next to me & his mouth was going a mile a minute & when he gets like that I get scatterbrained like an idiot. I'm sure their reasoning will be because of the field trip. So annoying.

We are headed to Charleston, SC. Will visit the beaches there. Staying a little over a week. I'm so excited but dreading the heat.

So I couldn't let it go, I emailed the top guy of the rec dept to ask & be a biatch. He said "traditionally there's no camp the Friday after because of the long hours both staff & participants have." If this is such a tradition, why not have it posted on the welcome packet we got in the beginning so people could know in advance? They knew what day they were going from the beginning, mark the next day as a day off. SMH.. & second, you're telling people on Wednesday? You can't notify a little farther in advance? It's just rude.

NamasteBirches, I'd be annoyed about the Friday thing too. It makes sense to not have camp after the kids and instructors had a really long day/field trip the day before, but maybe put it on the calendar/give advance warning so parents can take off work/find other care if they need it.

Nothing exciting here - it's just a regular Wednesday. Although tonight we're going out to eat, so at least I don't have to cook!

I'm hoping people that aren't as flexible as we are confronted them on the spot when they picked their kids up so they at least know that they were definitely in the wrong. Have a day off, fine but be courteous to people's schedules/lives.

What started off as me being solo parent for the weekend ended with me being pretty damn busy with work/trainings & just not having much time to get on here.
